Vergil did actually steal Nero's arm. His arm wasn't the Yamato itself. It had already existed at the start of DMC4, and it absorbed the Yamato a few missions into the game, which unlocked his devil trigger. He stole Nero's arm, destroyed it, and retrieved the Yamato. Nero was capable of wielding it outside of his arm, and even offered to return it to Dante, implying that he didn't need to lose his arm to give it back. Vergil just isn't one to ask nicely for more power.

V saying he is but two days old, was a quote to a writing by William Blake, which if I recall is describing the birth of an angel. So I'd take that sin off, for they used the beautiful use of a William Blake poem, to actually tie into V's literal existence of being 2 days old, and as well as him being as close to an angel is he could get considering he was essentially the light inside of Vergil.

Cast aside, there's no coming home!" In DMC 5 it is indirectly stated that Vergil had believed that Eva (his and Dante's mother) left Vergil, to protect Dante, which would leave him to feel Cast Aside, but that's irrelevant, What's important is "Bury the light deep within" imying that Vergil desired to Bury something within himself, His humanity could be the light the song is referring to, as Vergil "cast aside" his humanity to become stronger V is Vergil's humanity, If "darkness" that is referred to in "Devil Trigger" is a Nero's Demonic side, which he later embraces, then one could assume Vergil's humanity is the light that "Bury the Light" is referring to

Adding extra details from extra media is okay, but only including important details in that extra media is not. About Patty’s age, Vergil met Nero’s mom before the events of DMC3, evidenced by the fact that Vergil would have to be alive to have a kid, meaning there has to be around a 20 year gap between DMC3 and 4. 1, 2, and the anime took place about 10 years after DMC3, and with a 3 or so year gap between 2 and 4, that would mean Patty would be about 16ish during DMC4, a little younger than Nero. Having another 2-3 year gap between 4 and 5 would give Nero some time to become more of an adult, and would also mean that Patty is well within the reach of being 18 during the events of DMC5. This could totally be refuted though, as producers, directors, and writers have all thrown different hats into the ring of the DMC timeline.

If I'm not mistaken these are the following facts that we know for sure: - Dante and Vergil were 8 when Eva died. - At the time of DMC 3 they were both 19. DMC3 manga they were 18. - Trish mentions when she meets Dante that his mother and brother died 20 years ago. This would make Dante 28 years at the time of DMC1. - In DMC4 Nero is meant to be the same age as Dante and Vergil were in DMC3. Assuming Vergil showed the Fortuna prostitute his motivation roughly a year before DMC3, this would put Dante at 38 years old by the time of DMC4. - DMC5 is confirmed by developers to take place 5 years after DMC4. Nero is now 24 and Dante & Vergil 43. - Patty was 8 in the anime and 18 in DMC5, meaning Dante was 33 in the Anime. This fits the timeline of being between DMC1 and DMC4. - Regarding DMC2, Matier apparently returns in the prequel light novel to DMC5 and mentions that Dante didn't return after the incident in DMC2 roughly 10 years ago. I haven't read the light novel so can not confirm this, but I'll link the reddit thread I found mentioning this. That means that DMC2 happened most likely a few months at most after the anime putting Dante's age at around 33-34 at DMC2. 27:09 How vergil came back is actually explained out of game. Basically in a manga, Dante had faced off with the Demon Balrog, (the devil arm dante starts with in 5 thats similar to Gilgamesh and Beowulf) Balrog had used a small piece of Yamato to do that thing vergil does to manifest into the human world. Dante however killed Balrog, but that piece ended up being found by Vergil, who was crumbling to pieces due to being nearly destroyed as Nelo Angelo (vergil had reformed after Mundus was killed/banished by Dante) Vergil used that shard to bring himself to the human world. Track down Nero, rip his arm off to get Yamato back, and did the ritual that made V and Urizen come to be.

I wouldn’t say he knew. At least purely canonically, we can’t say, but even just in theory, V was suspicious the whole time. Dante didn’t really believe anything he said in the beginning until he saw Urizen for himself, it’s stated in the game itself, and after seeing V’s actions throughout the rest of the game, he probably started having a hunch that something was up. Hearing what V said before stabbing the cane through Urizen quite probably made it all click. It’s quite probable that he didn’t really know up until then, even if he had hunches

33:46 this game has a feature that I name fake damage. It depletes the enemy’s health bar but it can’t kill until the last hit of the move you can take judgment and sword masacarbe (don’t remember how to spell it) that only the last move in the combo can actually kill an enemy
33:27 Fun fact! Dance macabre and judgement even though they do great damage, they cannot kill until the very last hit, meaning you can spam it all you want, but as long as you don't get the final hit it will NOT kill!
Now that's a way to return. Good job. Also that reference to Bleach about Ichigo and his true Bankai is so on-point. Edit: Added reference about Bleach.
About that King Cerberus damage part : Judgement works like Dance Macabre where even if it could kill the enemy, his health remains at 1 until the end so you can finish him off with the last hit of the combo. You just got unlucky because Cerberus went invulnerable just as the last hit connected.

No sin for the fact that Nero didnt realise that Dante and Vergil were family despite of the fact that people mentioned several times during DMC 4 and 5 that he had the blood of Sparda? Or that Vergil didnt know Nero was his son?. Yes, the guy who had his sword and looked more like him than his twin brother....
The pacing is off, and the environment gets a little repetitive. The fact they could not get all the additional lore in is forgivable, Imo, because it would have broken the pacing entirely. I like that it is available as separate media, myself. But what it truly wanted to do, it did ssstylishly.
The ending felt rushed, again. Nero gets an eleventh hour power and swoops in to unrightfully claim the win at the end just like in 4 despite being a little boy and picking on weak demons but getting his ass beat when it came to the big bad just like in 4. Nero didn't surpass anyone or get any closer to being MC material. They power creeped Dante and Vergil up to ludicrous heights that Nero couldn't possibly reasonably reach within a single game, especially how he legit just kept getting carried (literally and figuratively) throughout the whole campaign up until the literal last 10 minutes. If they can do the stakes, pacing, and development in 6 right, he can be Dantes replacement, but he didnt grow any in my eyes.

To answer your sin about Sin 111, judgement does "Fake" damage (it'll deal damage, but not kill) until the final hit, similar to other multi hit moves such as million stab or dance macabre. The final hit, unfortunately was during cerberus' invulnerability. You just got a 6 foot share of bad luck.

I think the reason dante wasn't found as a kid is because his demonic power was dormant while vergils was activated so he probably attracted the demons towards him cloaking dante in a way
33:37 most of the attacks in judgment do not do "kill damage", they deplete the enemies health but dont lower it to 0, the only part of it that does do kill damage is the last shockwave, which cerberus was invincible during.
I started both the Mass Effect series and the Uncharted series in reverse from the third title of each. I did the same thing with the Bad Company games.
Great video but so far I just have a couple nitpicks. One the whole secret passage way needing blood to activate it was never stated to the case if anything it could be water and Dante just used blood (a form of fluid just like water) because due to the Qliphoth there was a lot of it and no water because tree probably destroyed the city's water supply. I just assumed Sparda used water because the blood Dante used was from the Qliphoth which was never there before. Two Dante probably sensed Trish was inside Cavaliere. V also knew Trish was inside Cavaliere because he said "I know who you really are" and he promised to be gentle because he didn't want to harm Trish in the process. Nero was able to sense Malphas as he approached her and he was devoid of demon power at that point. So its pretty easy to believe that Dante could've sensed Trish inside Cavaliere. Three it may be due to how Trish worded her dialogue and I guess its a sin on the localizers/dialogue writers but what Trish meant about Urizen not being a demon was that due to her being from the Underworld and knowing so much about it she never in all her life ever heard about Urizen and he came out of nowhereso he can't be from the Underworld. Which could be why she questioned if he was a demon. Trish probably should've said "Urizen is no demon I ever heard of". Four while I do get where you're coming from with the sin about Cavaliere R being DLC exclusive so no form of DLC weapons is okay in your books? Say like we get a weapon DLC down the line that adds new weapons like Agni and Rudra or whatever or a new form of Balrog or another Devil Breaker with new features and moves. It isn't like Cavaliere R where its available on launch but added much later after launch. Also I'm surprised that you left out the DLC Devil Breakers in this sin and chose to only focus on Cavaliere R. Five as for why Dante never mentioned the whole Eva thing to Vergil. It could in part be due to the fact when Dante landed in the illusion room he then realized that was what this was all about. DMC3 Dante was really young and reckless and really only wanted to fight Vergil so he never saw the big picture until it was too late. Dante spent most of DMC3 just wanting to kick Vergil's ass for fun not really wanting to reason with him and even ignoring his lineage. It was at the end he matured and wised up a bit. Dante ultimately changes at the end and decides that the best course of action would be having to kill Vergil and not reason with him because deep inside he still wanted to fight Vergil because in Lady's own words they derived a twisted pleasure from it. Basically what I'm saying is Dante is bit too immature (even at the end) to want to reason with Vergil and explain the full story nor was he aware that was why Vergil turned evil. If anything at the of DMC3 Dante assumed Vergil is doing all of this so he can be like Sparda. Six Dante knew V was also Vergil all along as well. He even stated right before stabbing himself with Rebellion that Yamato could separate man from Devil. So where would Dante assume his human side would go? He recognized the book V was holding, the way they talked to each other in the graveyard scene is also suspect, and when Trish told Dante V told her everything it was clear Trish knew Dante as well. Dante let V deal the final blow because V is also his brother and wanted to honor his human side's dying wish (he probably assumed since he was the human side he would want to do the right thing) and for all we know Dante thought it would be funny in a cosmic sort of way if Vergil's power hungry demon side is taken out by his frail, weak human side.
@White-Van Helsing ...except deep, obscure tech does not constitute better gameplay. 4 has some of the most annoying enemies, and is an unfinished game.
@White-Van Helsing See. Arguing that the pacing is off in DMC5 is legit. And the environment does get stale, after a while. But V being boring is more of an opinion, with which I severely disagree on higher difficulties, while DMC4's enemy designs are as unfinished as the game itself. The latter is a fact. Mods are also not an argument. Too many do not play on PC. I myself do, but mods that fix core issues do not change that the game still has these issues. This is not Skyrim, where mods actually carry the entire game.
You have to admit that DmC had the best level designs tho. It's combat was pretty good as well considering it was different (the combat, not the style grading)
@@hououinkyouma3864 The "fixed" version of DmC does have overall better gameplay. But that doesn't mean much, considering how old and impactful DMC3 is. And, tbh, I severely dislike the DmC fighting aesthetics and visuals. They look...shady. In every other aspect, excluding camera issues and extreme, high-skill gameplay, DMC3 wins. The latter aspect is not relevant to 99,7% of the player base, in the first place.
Ok, so I doubled checked on Patty's age and no. Patty is supposed to be around 8 to 10. TAS happens maybe a year after DMC1, meaning she is some 3 years younger than Nero, who was born sometime around DMC 3. DMC 2 happens somtime after DMC 1 and the novel Before the Nightmare says that the events of the second game happened 10 years ago. So if DMC takes place close to TAS, that would make Patty's age 8 at the time. Nero is arround 16 to 18 durring the events of DMC 4, which happened 5 years before DMC V, meaning during TAS he would have been somewhere between 11 and 13, having being born arround 10 years before DMC 1, the rough aproximate would be correct. Even so, there are no oficial ages in the DMC universe since they retcon the story every few years.
Meh. Dante is 19 in 3 and 28 in 1. He’s almost 40 in 4 when Nero is 19 and Nero is 24 now. Dante’s 29 in the anime when she’s 10ish so it really doesn’t add up. Nero and Patty are actually about the same age

@32:30 On this point, I think this only works if they were actual dogs, not "dog-like" demons. It's worth noting that both King Cerberus and OG Cerberus feel insulted when Dante refers to them as "dogs." I'm assuming that demons classify each other as belonging to different "tribes." If both Cerberus identify as demons, then King Cerberus calling other Cerberuses as belonging to a "tribe" is accurate.
Wait, if the whole incident was brought about by Urizen, who is half of Vergil, then the Mallet Island demons coming back COULD make sense. 24:13 I went back and played DMC5 again and I finally get this part now. What V was getting at I believe is that Nero WAS useless, as in the Prologue, right after the events of m10. Because V was speaking to Dante and Dante didn't have enough memory in his memory card any more after he got knocked out in m10. So basically he was telling Dante that he went to get Nero as a failsafe measure right after Dante told him to go back because he realized this is far worse than expected. But Nero in his weakened state stood no chance, hence he WAS of no use back then. The game made it sound like V still don't have faith in Nero but in reality it's not, hence there's no such counterpoint as "Nero actually landed a hit in m8" because they're simply not talking about current events but a recap of what happened when they first fought Urizen. And I just realized that today. Crazy how playing in a non-chronological order messes with your brain Edit: Which could also be a translation issue similar to how Vergil's "My son means nothing to me" were actually "My son? You're not making any sense" or something along the line in the original jp script
Actually the reason why you didn’t kill king Cerberus with judgement is because the attacks in judgment cannot fully kill any enemy, it leaves them at one hp until the final blast of judgment hits, Cerberus can still do his transformation even if judgment is being used. So that’s why you didn’t kill him with judgment and you will accept this ending to a boss fight

Hey what do you think of vergil theme
Vergil did actually steal Nero's arm. His arm wasn't the Yamato itself. It had already existed at the start of DMC4, and it absorbed the Yamato a few missions into the game, which unlocked his devil trigger.
He stole Nero's arm, destroyed it, and retrieved the Yamato. Nero was capable of wielding it outside of his arm, and even offered to return it to Dante, implying that he didn't need to lose his arm to give it back.

Additionally, if you read the manga it turns out this was, in fact, V trying to crack a joke.
Human side, not 'light'. Angels do not seem to exist in DMC Universe, and the whole point of humanity is it can swing either way all on its own.
@@ВладиславШаклеин-ч7м incorrect
In the song Devil Trigger, Nero's Theme
The lyrics go "Embrace the darkness that's within me"
While also referring to a demon that is "Clenching its power, trying to break free"
This would imply that the darkness within Nero, is his Demonic side
Vergil's theme is called "Bury the Light"
In this song, it says "Bury the light deep within!
Cast aside, there's no coming home!"
In DMC 5 it is indirectly stated that Vergil had believed that Eva (his and Dante's mother) left Vergil, to protect Dante, which would leave him to feel Cast Aside, but that's irrelevant,
What's important is "Bury the light deep within" imying that Vergil desired to Bury something within himself,
His humanity could be the light the song is referring to, as Vergil "cast aside" his humanity to become stronger
V is Vergil's humanity,
If "darkness" that is referred to in "Devil Trigger" is a Nero's Demonic side, which he later embraces, then one could assume Vergil's humanity is the light that "Bury the Light" is referring to
Except v is only two days old and has no name at that point, since it takes place two days after vergil cut v off. He also isn't saying v isn't quoting poetry, the fact he is doing that is completely irrelevant to the sin.

Yes, and even then, Nero was using his own sword. His demon was swinging Yamato.
Foolishness Nero, you shouldn't have Put the Yamato into your Devil Bringer in dmc4.

If I'm not mistaken these are the following facts that we know for sure:
- Dante and Vergil were 8 when Eva died.
How vergil came back is actually explained out of game. Basically in a manga, Dante had faced off with the Demon Balrog, (the devil arm dante starts with in 5 thats similar to Gilgamesh and Beowulf) Balrog had used a small piece of Yamato to do that thing vergil does to manifest into the human world. Dante however killed Balrog, but that piece ended up being found by Vergil, who was crumbling to pieces due to being nearly destroyed as Nelo Angelo (vergil had reformed after Mundus was killed/banished by Dante)
Vergil used that shard to bring himself to the human world. Track down Nero, rip his arm off to get Yamato back, and did the ritual that made V and Urizen come to be.

"Aw shit"
Here we go again
I was about to sleep myself, then I saw the video and was like aw hell what does he have to say about this beautiful game
31:40
The fact this wasn't 3 sins was a missed opportunity.
Biggest Sin of this game: Making DMC: Devil May Cry look like crap.
JK, and welcome back!
@White-Van Helsing ...except deep, obscure tech does not constitute better gameplay. 4 has some of the most annoying enemies, and is an unfinished game.
@White-Van Helsing
See.
@White-Van Helsing
3 is much deeper than DmC in every respect.
You have to admit that DmC had the best level designs tho. It's combat was pretty good as well considering it was different (the combat, not the style grading)
@@hououinkyouma3864
The "fixed" version of DmC does have overall better gameplay.

Yep! Her age checks out for DMC5
Meh. Dante is 19 in 3 and 28 in 1. He’s almost 40 in 4 when Nero is 19 and Nero is 24 now. Dante’s 29 in the anime when she’s 10ish so it really doesn’t add up. Nero and Patty are actually about the same age

The sin DT move that you were talking about at 33:33 is called Judgement. Judgement will not outright kill enemies until the final "explosion or burst". What happened was a very nieche situation where when dante did the final explosion cerberus had already started the transformation move which made him invincible. @32:30 On this point, I think this only works if they were actual dogs, not "dog-like" demons. It's worth noting that both King Cerberus and OG Cerberus feel insulted when Dante refers to them as "dogs." I'm assuming that demons classify each other as belonging to different "tribes." I'm not a tech guy but considering DMC5 already falls short of stable 60fps and has some long load times on base consoles, PS4 and Xbox One might not be able to handle turbo mode and Legendary Dark Knight mode. Though personally I'd be fine playing a lower graphics setting for those modes if that would keep the performance up.

@@floatsyourgoats6200 they probably didn’t release it on pc for similar reasons as not that many PC player have the hardware to run the special edition so it would be a waste until it more widely in use

Crazy how playing in a non-chronological order messes with your brain
Edit: Which could also be a translation issue similar to how Vergil's "My son means nothing to me" were actually "My son? You're not making any sense" or something along the line in the original jp script
Actually the reason why you didn’t kill king Cerberus with judgement is because the attacks in judgment cannot fully kill any enemy, it leaves them at one hp until the final blast of judgment hits, Cerberus can still do his transformation even if judgment is being used. So that’s why you didn’t kill him with judgment
and you will accept this ending to a boss fight
