It’s your ignition switch located in the steering column I had the same issue and it only got worse to where I turned the key 20 times in order for it to start
contaminated starter switch, it's located under the steering cover, next tym before you start the car, push the car key in deeper and add a little down force before turning it, it should start at once until you are able to replace the switch
My 2007 accord had this same issue lol I had this issue for a whole year but it would ALWAYS start. I ended replacing the ignition switch and now always starts on first try
This is the ignition switch. It’s a super easy fix, just gotta take the panels off under the dash and remove the entire assembly that the key goes into. I did it back in 2020 and haven’t had an issue since.
@@inmyopinion9305 you’ll have to find an ignition switch, it’s a small curved black plastic piece with a white plastic cylinder on top. The repair was easy and I did it myself in 10-15 minutes. Look up some video guides and you’ll be able to do it for next to nothing yourself, but if you don’t want to do it, a local mechanic shouldn’t charge you too much. That’s an ignition switch!! I just did that but I haven’t put out a video on it yet. Super simple job and there are other videos on it. Just the electrical switch part is needed not the actual lock cylinder
It could be anywhere from a simple bad battery issue to something more expensive such as a camshaft. My car had this issue for like a week but wasn’t significant enough to bring my attention until one morning it took 2 cranks to fire up. From there, It developed quickly till the point I couldn’t start it at all. Luckily I brought it into a mechanic just in time where they diagnosed the problem by plugging the jumper cables to my battery and long behold, She fired up smoothly. My initial concern was the chances that my bad timing chain wore out to the point it wasn’t letting my vehicle start which I heard a few instances with other people. I was very lucky!
Yes, the bendix wasn't engaging on the starter. That's a starter on its way out. Basically it's not springing in and out to grab the flywheel on the transmission to turn the motor over
ignition switch just on the other side of where you put your key in. the contacts in the switch wear out over time and it starts buzzing and eventually the car will not start.
I had an issue of my car not starting at all i replaced my battery even though my okd one wasn’t dead and even replaced the starter, now the car starts but does this on the first try and then when i start again it starts and its been 2-3 months since i bought it, it always takes long cranks to start even after replacing the starter and last night my key got stuck on ignition and the only way i can get it out is but unplugging the battery. Is this a sign that i should replace ignition ??
Check all ig related fuses make sure battery is at 12v . Or check to see if it's in park. Sooner or later everyone does it so don't feel like a big dummy....... (wRedd Foxx voice over)
I check everything electrical. The battery is good and then I check the terminals and then I check the wiring harness if any cuts or copper is burned like crazy. My 05 honda Accord had a burned fucken bad ground copper harness that I had to replace it and no immediately started turning on.
One of three: starter (bendex or relay), dirty (contaminated contacts), failing ignition. First: Check the terminals / contact, then change starter, if it continues it’s likely the ignition.
Future / Aspiring Mechanic here: Almost everyone commenting on this is dumb as a box of rocks. Common problem with honda accords. Especially up to 07 accords. The grunting like noise you're hearing is a failing fuse. You would know if it was the battery or alternator. A bad battery takes longer start the car, and a failing alternator will usually act the same. But key points to diagnosing a bad alternator are low power to accessories. Such as headlights and etc. You'd also hear a growling like noise. If you're unsure, automotive parts stores such as AutoZone will test your battery, starter and alternator for free. Replace the fuse and everything should be kosher. If it's not the fuse, definitely the starter.
I have an 04 Accord and mine you have to turn the key to the 2nd click before it starts. Wait for your gages to move I always look at my gas gage and once it finishes moving then start car
