I had a female flowerhorn in a 75 gallon tank she lived alone because she didnt like roommates. Had her for about 7 years. I even had her lay eggs a few times. Mine would change colors depending on her mood. Pale red and green when she was happy. Bright red when she was in attack mode. One day I brought home her favorite meal, a dozen crickets. She seen the bag, turned bright red and began jumping and hit the lid of the aquarium. Knocked her goofy and a day or two later she died. That fish was more like a dog than a fish. Id put my hand in the tank and she would rub against it and want to be petted. RIP Dori
Im sorry that happened, I've always wanted a flowerhorn they just seem like great fish and great pets in general I just have never had the room or the money for one, maybe someday i'll get one
I actually brought a flowerhorn home today from someone who didn't want the commitment of having this beautiful fish and i would like to hear everything i should know such his behavior when coming to a new tank
you say not to get floating pellet type food for a flowerhorn but could you recommend one? All of the ones I have looked at that for specifically for flowerhorns are a floating type
Love ur care tips bro 👍 so next month im gonna change my tank for my flowerhorn cuz its too small i have 15 gallons maybe i should get 55 galloons already 😊
Of course your name is Gus and have a flowerhorn! My name is Gus too and I have a flowerhorn... there goes my TH-cam carrier! He is a red base with blue-ish green full pearl white eyed King Kamfa. He has zero black spots or stripes. He looks like cotton candy. His name is Geronimo.
You should be just fine until it reaches the 8inch mark. After that you're going to want to upgrade 👍 You can use a bare bottom tank but they really like sand. Hope this helps!
You're welcome 👍 And yes, but if you're flowerhorn seems happy and you keep a lot of open space you might be able to get away with it. Keep an eye on him and if he begins to become too inactive then it's better to upgrade. 👍

Good one, Gus!
Do different strains of flowerhorns get different sizes? I think I have a red dragon and a few people told me they the RDs don’t get that big.
Sweet. Love flowerhorns👍👍👍

What ph and filter do you recommend?
7-8 for thee ph. The filter depends on your tank size.
Mines are nuts lol 😂 so aggressive but my Oscar is king of the tank
Thanks
