    From the sound of this, Planet Irth has had extraterrestrials infiltrating the recording industry since the early 1960's.

    She wore blue velvet
    Bluer than velvet was the night
    Softer than satin was the light
    From the stars
    She wore blue velvet
    Bluer than velvet were her eyes
    Warmer than May her tender sighs
    Love was ours
    Ours a love I held tightly
    Feeling the rapture grow
    Like a flame burning brightly
    But when she left, gone was the glow of
    Blue velvet
    But in my heart there'll always be
    Precious and warm, a memory
    Through the years
    And I still can see blue velvet
    Through my tears
    Ohhhhhhhhh
    She wore blue velvet
    But in my heart there'll always be
    Precious and warm, a memory
    Through the years
    And I still can see blue velvet
    Through my tears

    I'm not surprised that this never really caught on because it's kinda eerie and creepy.
    Like voices from beyond the grave or something.
    But I'm used to that, so I like it.👍👍👍😎

      Are you kidding? Where would Peter Frampton, The Scorpions, or even Daft Punk be without talk box?
      Try listening to "Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi sometime or "Rocky Mountain Way" by Joe Walsh.

      @@nicok.5266 The thing is OP said "I'm not surprised that this never really caught on..." I disagreed and offered evidence as to why I disagreed. Here we are 50+ years later and the technique is mainstream (It was put in to common use within a decade). What are you trying to say?

    • @nicok.5266
      @nicok.5266 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Brigand231 i think what the op was trying to say is, that he's not surprised that this never caught on in the time it was released, and therefore isn't that popular now (i'm talking about pete drakes music, not talkbox in general). Most of the stuff you mentioned does not have that eerie or "creepy" vibe to it, especially not for the time it was released

    • @insertnamehere8730
      @insertnamehere8730 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Brigand231 they don't really talk into it though. They play guitar and shape the notes, but they don't sing words through it and that's what never caught on. Some groups have done the word thing, but for Pete Drake he's the only one to be a frontman talkbox singer guy

      It's because he is singing through this invention he made where he turns his steel guitar into a "talk box." He plays the guitar while singing into a sort of chord and it makes this crazy sound. Futuristic for it's time for sure, I am so impressed that they could do this back them before computers and modern electronics. Like, jesus, this was 50+ years ago
