Can confirm it doesn't work with the big 350kW Tritium's. Just completed a big 3000km round road trip in my Ioniq 6 and autocharge only worked on a 75kW and a 150kW I used. Not the 5ish 350kW ones I visited
Yes, we have the Evie swipe card. Is this new method a good idea? I am not sure. It seems in Europe that they are all now converting to just swiping your Debit/Credit card and I think that is where we should be going. We are using our credit cards now for everything, specially in Australia, so it just makes sense to use it, as we have them with us all the time. Using your debit card, you won't have to register an account. Just swipe and charge...
Specifically the Evie chargers where it won't work. - the oldest Veefil/RT50s - the ones with old school LED screen - the ultrafast 350 units which are quite fat, cables plug to the side and they have a large square screen, includes some installed quite recently. And a number of EVs where the naughty manufacturer has used a common MAC address won't work.
You're activating AutoCharge not Plug and Charge, which is a separate product pushed by the VW group, the title of this video is very misleading. The Plug And Charge standard is a whole other ballgame using a centralised system with certificates and roaming accross charging providers. AutoCharge is something you have to activate for each charging provider, it has no roaming like Plug and Charge. So if you look at the VW group cars you'll see that VW, Skoda etc can't use AutoCharge, they're pushing their Plug and Charge system, because they own Ellie, a roaming provider, they basically want a piece of your fast charging payments.
I’m very eager to learn more about how this works. I didn’t think the CSS port in a 2020/2021 MG ZS EV could exchange any sort of unique ID’s, and if they could always do this, why hasn’t anyone done this already?
7:14 Hi Chris sorry to be a spoiler for you. But using any device whilst in control of a car a learner is driving is an absolute no no. Love your ev stuff though. Cheers Russ
Still should be totally focused on the learner driver and not be distracted by anything . You are legally in control of a vehicle. Explain that to the court if involved in a serious accident injuring some unfortunate, ( I was just making a youtube video and missed it)? It's not just hand held tech that's a problem, it's distractions that is! Utmost concentration is a must with a learner driver at all times! Distracted drivers Kill. Just be vigilant and be safe out there, that's all .
Thanks Chris for the usual very informative video. Another barrier gone in making "on the road charging" easier.

Charging a Tesla at a Tesla Super Charger is sooo easy! Great video!
Yep, they nailed one of the key issues for EVs.
Great Chris. I hope Chargefox comes on board soon as well.
Great video Chris! I just set this up today and it was a seamless experience.

Yes. Autocharge works in the states. Commonly on EVgo and Evconnect charge networks.
Why can't we just swipe a credit card lik at a bowser. Why do i need apps?
I’ve been looking forward to this. But lately I haven’t had the need to use public fast chargers.
Same. I seldom use them personally. Most often just for reviews.
Thanks Chris
Hopefully, Chargefox can learn from this rollout mistake. I had to delete it off my phone before it would work on my wife’s phone.
Just to add, you only need the one RFID card. This can then be used at any charger company which you have your payment details recorded with.
Good to know!

Best summary and comparison of Plug and Charge i have ever seen
Great job maybe can be a topic with those reps at the expo
Thanks. I'll be there today

I was equally surprised and glad it worked.
Thought it was 1st June 2024.
Either way our last Evie session was December 2023
The Evie app reports my Tesla model 3 2022 is incompatible 😢🤦♂️

Maybe a fixed GoPro, like at the charger. Not handheld, he is just talking to a cam, not operating a device.
