the NFHS has really clarified what's going on on the rules side by making the
restriction that all tights and sleeves shall be the same solid color and must
be the same color as any headband or wristband worn headbands and wristbands
shall be white beige black or the predominant color of the jersey and
shall be the same color for each item and all participants they must be the
same color as any sleeves or tights worn so this really clarifies and makes
things very very simple everything's got to be the same color the one exception
is that braces do not have color restrictions so we want to make sure
that we can identify what a brace is by rule and we're good to go so on this
slide here we've got examples of arm sleeves just straight up sleeve sleeve
with a pad compression sleeve for the lower leg a compression leg sleeve with
a pad it's up to us to determine what is considered a brace the general
guidelines are a brace is defined as anything that contains hinges and/or
straps or an opening over the kneecap typically a knee brace may have hinges
here straps here opening on the knee yes no it could be as simple as this
structure here but just to review any arm sleeves tights kneepads sleeves
anything worn on the arm and or leg is a sleeve except the knee brace and shall
meet the color restrictions simple straightforward
just to review headbands headband is anything that goes entirely around the
head could be pre wrap an elastic band new this year headbands with extensions
the famous Skylar Diggins look headbands with extensions not legal in high school
review of hair control devices hair control devices anything that goes
around hair but not the head no color restrictions on hair control devices a
team could have 12 players wearing these twelve scrunchies as hair control
devices legal something with a hair control device that contains hard items
    illegal
    you

    yes

a point of emphasis this year is protecting the free-throw shooter and
there are new restrictions and rules new this year
opponents of the thrower and teammates of the thrower are not allowed to
violate the semicircle that the free-throw er shoots from defenders are
not allowed to cross plane of the free-throw line prior to the ball
contacting the ring or the backboard it is also a foul if the opponent of the
thrower crosses the line and contacts the thrower and that contact is more
than incidental that is a foul
    you
all right important in this place to look at mechanics the center official is
responsible for these two players violating and the thrower violating the
trail is here to help with players violating outside the arc but note the
mechanics used by the center official when he turned raises his hand and turns
his shoulders so that they're parallel to the end line he can no longer
officiate these players this is his responsibility to officiate these
players we have the lead to handle action in the Leeds primary it's
important to keep our body open to officiate all the players on the lane in
regards to violation player and white indeed across the plane incidental
    contact in my opinion
that's a fantastic pre-shot routine before the ball contacts the ring
