No wonder it’s a bad horror game, it’s called alone in the dark. Entire reason the dark is scary is because you don’t know if you’re alone or not. If you’re alone in the dark, there’s nothing to be scared of
I have not finished the video entirely (which I plan on doing). I just want to say Alone in the Dark (1992) isn't a survival horror game either by design. More over the game was designed to be a psychological horror game. Even the remake emphasized that it was psychological horror. The survival horror aspect was just made by accident.
Other than the insane $60 price tag for a AA game, this is more of a Supernatural Mystery Thriller than a horror game. At least it's still much better than the previous games in the series, that of the 2008 game, or especially Illumination from 2015.
I also think the game is pretty bad mostly due to it's gameplay the puzzles are mostly easy and not rly interesting and they just reused the same puzzles 3/4 times wich is a freaking joke except for 2/3 exceptions they also used those useless collection objects to unlock major stuff in the game like the shotgun (instead of creating more puzzles) the fact that the manor part is completly safe is also a big issue now regarding combats, as you said they just feel super weak and rushed, melee weapons all feels the same, like there is no difference between picking up a pipe or a pickaxe, the game also lack any kind of inventory for weapons (even the original 1992 game had inventory management !), wich make the presence of throwable object spoil that there will be enemies in the area so you are never surprised, talking about ennemies there are just 4 of them in the whole game not counting the 2 weird bosses and they are pretty dumb the story is also just completly disjointed and the whole lifetime/dimenssion come out of nowhere and is not even questionned by the charracters
I can barely even remember seeing trailers for this game, then I saw the poster for it on the PS store, seeing David Harbour and thinking oh shit this is gonna be sick. Then BAM, I open TH-cam and see video after video saying it’s just not good. Man, what a shame. Amazing vid btw, you definitely deserve more subs.
There is only 1 survival horror game made in the past 5 years, and it is RE2 Remake (excluding indie games). All the others are only masquerading as survival horror (RE4R, RE:Village, Dead Space Remake, The Callisto Protocol and especially Alan Wake 2).
It's a horror adventure game. Different boundaries, different box. Even in the ORIGINAL box it say Horror Adventure Game. It was originally trying to to a point and click adventure game in 3D back then.
What's your favourite Survival Horror game?
Fifa19
@@matthewsainsbury-dale4956 scariest game on the market to this day 😂

Interesting good to know
the only problem with this game is the 60 dollar price tag. give it a 50% discount during october and i'll buy it fr
60 dollars purely because of the big name actors involved:(

I haven’t played the 2008 game or 2015 one and hadn’t even heard of them until this game was released.
