Nice video, I'm a bit confused between the rode mic pro and Shure VP83. But your review helped me decide which mic was best. Going to definitely purchase this one!
Diego Cardoso I have one, it's a high-pass filter. High-pass filters let the high frequencies through and filter out the low ones. Low-pass filters do the opposite. High-pass filters are sometimes called "low-cut filters," which my guess is the source of your confusion. Low cut = high pass.
@Jman 2081 No. It's high pass also known as low cut. Why the fuck would you want a low pass filter on your microphone? You need those high frequencies to understand what the subject is saying. Low pass filters are for synths, effects, and special post-processing needs. Microphones have high pass filters which filter out rumble and wind noise. It's very common for the terms to be confused. One thing is for sure, it's not a low pass filter - he made a mistake.
I just bought one for use with my Canon 80D. I have been trying to eliminate the hiss from the audio, and wondered if you had any tips. The audio in your video sounded great. Was that from post processing, or in camera?
Finally, someone that does all the angles to hear all the sounds.
Very helpful review. Thank you!
Great review - simple, short, and to the point. Thanks!
Great video! Just got one last week

Hello! Could I use this microphone to record with a smartphone?
Thanks! That has become a great help.
1:50 you mean high-pass filter.
Adam Ragusea not really. It's a low-pass filter indeed. Check Shure's website and you'll see.

Maybe I missed it, but what was the mic's settings for this video you did?
It does sound really smooth~
Have you bought anything from Hidalgo? Just wanna know if going to a risky place like that is worth the low-priced gear there.
+Jilianne Ashley Yup I bought a few Yongnuo flashes from Hidalgo many years ago!

+Thane Hanson in the camera lower the audio gain in the settings
turn the audio down on your 80D to one or two notches from off then turn the 20+ db gain on the vp83
How has the mic been working for you? Thinking of adding it to my 80D also.
0:06 Shotgum hahaha

Are you still using this microphone?
Yup!
For some reason my Vp83 had a different screw built into it
The sound has a small distortion, which RODE doesn´t has.
