Hi Kerry, thanks so much for making a video about us. It was a big surprise to see! We're glad you like our Pods and especially that you'll be following us. 2024 is going to be a very exciting year for us!
Steel is real! I live in Phoenix and wood dries, shrinks and moves big time. Bolt-together wood furniture always needs tightened up when brought from non-desert environments. Not to mention termites don’t eat steel. But i think with steel you really want spray-foam insulation.
@@susanbeals7597: @5:28, it looks as if the company is going in a different direction. Spray foam is not really a thing over here and has attracted some bad press because of poor application by people who basically don't understand the product and how it should work.
Kerry, this is a great video! I liked the 2bd 1 bth home. I would greatly consider placing an island with stools in front of the kitchen and getting rid of the dining table. The black metal with wood exterior is so attractive and elegant looking. It's always awesome watching your videos!
I’m in the UK. Great to see companies this side of the pond. Also, GREAT to see something bigger that I can actually ‘live’ in ….a home. And customisable. Definitely going to check this out. Thanks! I thought I’d found all the ones over here.
The one piece of information I need to pique my interest is always the width. This is because I have a small lot with a 1,122' house on it, and the ADU I'm looking to put on it needs to fit behind the house between the back wall and the back property line with setbacks taken into account. With setbacks, it can be no wider than 12', but if I attach it to the house, I gain some more room for amenities like passage between side yards, sunlight, and wheelbarrow transit, because the setback required between house and another building is removed if attached. The steel frame is interesting because I would love to put it on piers instead of tearing up my yard for footings. Now that I've commented, I'll have to see the remainder of the video to see if they ship to California. It looks like they have the shoebox shape that I've been looking for.
Twenty years ago my wife found nine acres really close to where I worked. She picked out a Victorian-looking home from a plan magazine. We priced that with both steel and wood framing. The steel framed building took a month longer and was a bit over 30% more expensive. It still required a full slab. We went with wood and lived there for a bit over twelve years.
Terry, regardless of whether anything you show is what im looking for, I just find you hilarious. Its just nice seeing what is available. Look forward to seeing your vids. Love ya man.
The Pod Factory. Very memorable name. Big win.🏆 I’m definitely a steel frame kinda guy. Living in a northeast big city, I’m just used to everything being steel framed. Even the hotdog stand on my corner looks steel framed. 🌭 I have to admit, the layouts on their two biggest models are great. And the kitchen cabinets are nice. I’m impressed by their interiors.👍 Great video Kerry. Love that this late in the year, a company, never before featured on the channel, is being showcased. 🙌😎
Hello Kerry!! Love steel frame prefab homes. So just a thought as you did say they can be customized. Pocket doors add to useable space in each bathroom and bedroom. Also, a lot of wasted space in the bathroom. Again, with a pocket door you could have a half bath and a full bath with a shower, which is needed with 4-6 people living in the house. Happy Holidays to all!! Thank you Kerry for your videos, great way to enjoy my morning coffee.
Great content Kerry. Steel frame homes are not subject to termite damage here in Australia. Are twice as strong and half the weight of equivalent timber frames.
I’ve been watching your videos for a long time and I’ve always wondered 😁 “ do you live in a tiny home ?” I’ve noticed that some TH-camers that have similar content live in tiny homes
Been watching your videos and appreciate them. However I notice you don’t pay much attention to what Utilities they have. Heat and AC etc. also many of the units seem to not have placements for refrigerators. Curious if this is just an oversight?
The ultimate flexibility would be to be able to have the Pod 72 built as a one bedroom home with a ensuite and large walk in closet. As it sits, it's about the size of some of the original Levittown homes.
Love this one! Thanks for showing it. I really like that they have bigger kitchens than many others. Also love the black on wood exterior. Keep us posted if they ever ship across the pond.
I have been looking for ADU's with Steel frames. The closest i got was a barndominium. Small apartment at one end and workshop at the other. I love this build. Shipping may deter from sales in the US... pricey!
Kerry, I really like a steel framed home; I live in FL where we get hurricanes and such. I can’t do a flat roof. I love the hifab C-shaped, but it’s wood framed. Any others out there to look at for SE section of the US? We all have termites, humidity, rain and big storms. 😮
If I ever run across another leprechaun I might wish for one of those. The biggest one of course. (Biggest house, not the biggest leprechaun, they are kind of mean.)
Hi Kerry, I kinda stumbled across your video and was totally intrigued! You are so funny 😂 in your comments and I'm also looking to but a tiny type home. These are truly so much better than the wood frame built homes. I like the steel- framed idea which is termite proof, as well as settling like wood does, also no mold, etc. Thank you for such a nice video, and all of the info given. I liked the (3) bdrm design. Miss Ve 💃🏽❣️👍🏽
really like kerry’s channel. was wondering whether there is sort of a prefab/modular home monthly magazine or industry event where these things can be seen?
Hello again Kerry, most of your followers prefer steel or aluminum framing for obvious reasons, terminates don’t eat metal, more precise cuts, less waste over all stronger and more durable. Lastly the perfect prefabricated affordable modular home would combine metal frames with wood finishes for walls some exterior decoration and interior decoration as well. But the supports should always be metal because of cost! Your reviews on all wood prefabricated modular homes made from wood cost a lot more especially if it’s a very strong wood or rare wood, engineered compressed and treated wood, the price goes up and not down 😮😮😮!
Wait!! What??? You don't have a desk??? OMG EVERYONE we need to create a patron for Kerry so he can have a desk!!! (Geeze Kerry I didn't know things had got that bad for you 😕) 😂😂😂 this is a joke y'all: haha
Hey Terry, in Ontario Canada here looking at same light Guage steel frame adu/homes in Arnprior near Ottawa called Metaligna/Craftmodular Appears the Craftmodular side is homes. Looks like a great idea for good price. Anything I should know from your perspective?
Sorry for the mis spelling . Start looking 👀 for homes built with FRP. It’s fiber reinforced polymers. Strong as steel .. lightweight. I’m a consultant and work with it . Just a thought.
Personally I prefer steel framed construction because there's less of a degradation and creature side of it. I do, however, want to have my unit attached to my foundation with anchors and fresh concrete. I am also, actually, looking for round, or roundish, layouts. Oh, and I'm in a wheelchair so no weaving around walls would be nice. I'm definitely thinking I'll need something custom! So I'll also need something small so I can afford the custom parts.
People should start caring about the building materials used. (if they can consider the option) Steel framing checks more boxes towards sustainability, it never contributes as a fuel source for fire, can not be degraded by pest and termites, and will never mold or rust (if you used galvanized). In terms of sustainability, steel is recycled more than wood, paper, plastic and aluminum combined. How fast can you plant a forest and replace the wood you took out of our earth?
As always Kerry....I enjoyed your coverage of these pods but put off they wouldn't give you pricing. YOU....of all people...smh. However seems like a nice product and I LOVE your terrarium.
I am looking for something really inexpensive. I have land on Big Island. I don't need insulation. Pretty much looking for a shell. thanks Janine in Boulder
Steel seems like better option, unless you want to add on to it- but it might be better. Yes, terrarium, and the nice wood square. Why are you a scrunched against the curtain? 😂? I like this design: metal and wood. Not as impressive as others you've shown.🥶🖤🔔👍💓

Those are very attractive. I think the big windows are a great idea in a misty, rainy place like Ireland.

Agree, and yes, closed cell spray foam insulation is perfect for steel frame and steel container homes.
@@qwertpoo1 absolutely, that's why a lot of viewers ask in the comments if their is a wind/ load criteria.
I’m in AL and agree with you on all points.

Yeah, did not notice the terrarium, which is a surprise. I saw the (scrap wood art / food tray / writing board / pin-up message, too do list board).
Love the terrarium and the video.
Thank you.

Good stuff Kerry! 👍
Frame very important. Galvanized steel excellent idea

I want this… in south Florida on stilts pls! I’d also take the “cassette” version of this to contend w the hurricanes!

Wish there were more of these in the US, at similar quality
Check Bone Structure. They have operations in Quebec, California and British Columbia. They are a good steel frame, pre-fab, North American option.
thank you!@@brcyca
Great looking homes and I like the fact that they are steel construction.
As far as I know termites don't eat steel.
I'm not even in the market for a prefab, but watch your videos because you are hilarious. PIVOT - back to western Canada.
haha thank you! appreciate you tuning in. I have some cool videos on the west coast of Canada planned for 2024!
Thanks, Kerry!
That is one big and important hexagonal terrarium you've got.

I prefer steel and 660 sq ft with an attached garage for colder climate Nice set ups and looks great ! Thanks Kerry !

Steel makes a lot of sense. I'd buy it. Pod 22 is the one I'd get.
I’ve been watching your videos for a long time and I’ve always wondered 😁 “ do you live in a tiny home ?” I’ve noticed that some TH-camers that have similar content live in tiny homes
Alright, connections. Now we need units that can stack to either make a 2nd floor ... or a small apartment building.
Very nice. You crack me up with your humor. Thank you. It appears that only one bedroom has a closet.
Thanks for watching John! Glad to hear you're enjoying the videos
I’m all in if I ever move to Ireland!
Steel sounds great, but does it transfer every bump, knock, step and hit around the house? Have to walk in one to be sure
I also like it, Kerry 🙆 A good frame, a good design, let's wait for more information about the price 🙂

I've viewed them they are not bad the one bed is about 60k or so for a basic one.
that's reasonable!
Are there any tiny homes priced tiny available in Texas?
Nice aesthetic here, but a shared bedroom wall for the 52 is a deal breaker.
