  • My apologies in advance for the jumpiness of the video and not showing the complete build. I filmed most of it in 4K which my computer didn't like at all. It was a nightmare to edit. Let me know if you have any questions though, and I will see if I can answer them.

    Getting ready to make my own. I was thinking of keeping the mattress on while folded so will weld a brace to keep the whole bunk away from the wall for the thickness of the mattress. Another to keep weight down was thinking instead of using plywood and metal spacers, use lawn chair webbing to place the mattress on. Just thoughts but will figure it out as I go. This was exactly what I was thinking. Thank you.

    Another EZ fab - plywood bunk bottom piano hinged to wall with chain falls supporting plywood from ceiling... extend chains for next lower bunk... repeat of room for submarine three stacked bunks... Good luck!

    Very simple design. Nice work also. I'm going to be making a set for my 6x12 and use high density foam for a more custom size of 30x72.

    Hoping you still answer questions on this older video. First off, I really like the design you used. My question is. If the Etrack was removed would the bed frame lay up against the wall flat? Only protruding the 1 1/4” thickness of the steel tubing plus 3/8” or whatever the thickness of wood used was?

    What are the dimensions of each bed, and did you find a mattress or pad for them? If so where did you source them from?

    Nice. What. Kind of frame, or metal wall support do you have your bed attached to? Thanks

    Hi I am building a toy hauler my trailer is 8x20 with 7feet 2'' height!
    Most probably 6" higher than yours! How high is yours ? I might be able to raise both beds ((upper&lower)by up to the 6"!
    Very nice job
    Thanks!

    How hard would it be to move the entire frame 3-6" from the wall so you could fold a mattress or foam pad up with it?

    • @JohnHarmon
      @JohnHarmon  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It wouldn't be hard at all. Frame stands on its own, so it is just a matter of pulling away from the wall

    Very nice work brother.
    If you were going to buy materials, what size tubing would you use so you wouldn't have to reinforce with bar stock?
    I like the way your trailer is set up so you can use it for hauling or camping. Its like you set it up with my needs in mind...lol
    Thank you for the video.. Thumbs up and a sub coming to you.

    • @JohnHarmon
      @JohnHarmon  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not completely sure, but maybe 1.25 square tubing, at least 1/8" thick for the long runs.... possible more (but just for the long runs... for the short ones 14 gauge seemed sufficient)

  • @kilrmac
    @kilrmac 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very nice, can you please tell me what size tubing you used.

    • @JohnHarmon
      @JohnHarmon  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1-1/4 14 gauge tubing; however, I had to weld 1-1/4 x 1/4" bar stock to the longer lengths of the beds to give adequate support. The cross pieces are 1/2" square tubing.... basically I used what I had on hand.

    Excellent bunk beds for camper and the first time mentioned using it fir n adult. Would these be light weight I mean considering making it out of wood? I am looking to Reno my camper . Take the queen bed out and put in one or possibly two sets of bunk beds. I want to use the it to go camping with group of friends. I do have a brother in who welds but I don’t think he is into making this for me. Would this be very expensive to get someone/welder build approx.? Do you mind telling me the width of the bunks and also how much room did you but between bunks? Sorry for all the questions. I have been searching a while looking for bunks and these look amazing. Great work.

    Great job.....How much did it cost to build these 2 bunk beds and how long did it take ? Could you do the same thing but in wood ? Would wood be cheaper ? Tks again

    • @JohnHarmon
      @JohnHarmon  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't remember the cost. I used material I had on hand for years. You could do it out of wood, but it would probably be heavier. Cheaper all depends on type of wood, sizes, etc. That all varies by location too.

    • @JohnHarmon
      @JohnHarmon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't have either. I just based it on the size of a large, adult sleeping bag. Sorry, if I had them I would share.

    • @savage6394
      @savage6394 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Forget Privacy all enclosed trailers vary in measurements. I would recommend measuring the space you have to work with. That way you don’t spend time and money then realize when you fold the frame up against the wall it hits the ceiling because you built them too wide.

    • @JohnHarmon

      Actually, there is a thin baseboard trim around the bottom of the trailer. I think I had it resting on it accidentally. I think I remember it being hung up on that now that you mention it.
