2:16 is probably the most "welcome to the internet" reaction possible. He throws in "here's a nine year old who died", she stops nodding her head, surprised reaction for one quick second, then back to nodding and bopping as soon as he says the next line. Perfectly encapsulates what Bo was trying to illustrate in this song about attention span, shock value, etc. bravo
To be fair, Mel's return to nodding may not have been in response to the next line and an example of a short attention span, she seemed to be reacting throughout like "yeah, Bo's not wrong about any of this"
"Your inside's out" is such a clever one-off lyric. Because over the internet, suddenly all of the thoughts and comments that one would normally keep to themselves via self-control has an anonymous outlet.
It's also a fun little reference he does throughout half the album, where he fits the word "Inside" in a whole lot of the songs. Not all of them but still a lot, and I'm sure that's intentional
SOME of his material is JUST silly nonsense. Most of it is extremely nuanced and layered self aware observations on modern society. Highly recommend "What" "Make Happy" and of course "Inside"
If you hadn't guessed. He's the personification of the internet. His laugh is how he captured us at a young age and from there it was just a waiting game.
you guys are one of the few reactors i see actually taking in the message of this song, really good stuff The "funny" stuff bo was saying is actually scary af and I could see you guys could understand that.
@@Wasserkaktus Wow, you're right. I didn't notice that during my first watch. I love Bo's subtle self awareness. I don't agree with all of his views, but his social commentary is mostly on point.
I like how you guys realized in the first 10 seconds that this is a tragedy and not a comedy. I just binged reaction videos to this song and it's amazing how many heads it goes right over, or they don't realize until the end. I guess because Bo is a "comedian"
You definitely gotta check out more of his stuff if you like this, he's really good at putting a deep meaning behind lyrics, "Art is Dead" is a great example.
You two were actually so thoughtful and demonstrated a real understanding of what he is talking about, compared to others who just listen and nod and think "wow that was funny" or "cool song" and don't give any thought to the messages behind what he does. Almost everything he does is commentary on life in some way, and some things that might seem like they are making fun are actually sympathizing with the subject matter, or the opposite. Bo Burnham is one of those artists that you always have to look at the deeper meaning and read between the lines.
I have looked up, a lot, of reactions to this and seriously you were the ONLY ones who NEVER paused the video to interject. Until the end. I appreciate that you didn't stop the song. This was a reaction worthy of subs.
Indeed. Commentary should be always at the end of the video, especially for pieces like this. It's better when you get the whole dose of it, because the big picture kicks you really hard in the stomach and that's how it is the most effective.
"it was always the plan, to put to world in your hand" all the good, all the bad, all the lies and all new lies, all in your palm the utility and usefulness of the internet is endless, and so is the mental strain, anxiety, and harm
It isnt saying the internet is what made the world a bad place, it's about the massive influx of information and and constant stimulation we now take in at a ridiculous pace
The internet could be incredibly beneficial to us, but it is becoming something terrible. People gaining addictions, everything on the dark web, social media harming people's mental health. I don't think it was supposed to turn out like this.
Inside is a special he did all by himself in one room over quarantine, its a deep special, wouldn't say it is a comedy special but it is incredible, his older comedy specials are amazing to, hope you check out some more of his songs and skits
The irony of a song that vilifies contemporary internet culture, being reacted.... to telling us "every thought you think" all of the time...everything all of the time.
I'm ten years older than bo Burnham. I remember when people didn't have the internet at all and I was a teenager when AOL ruled the world. I'd legit never heard of him before this special and when I heard this I was terrified, kinda, and I thought This guy actually gets it. Holy crap. What did we allow to happen to our kids today?
That's so interesting, I'm 10 years younger than Bo (born 2001). One of my earliest memories is when my parents got new flip phones delivered to our house. I've never NOT had "the world in my hands", and it's great. I learn proactively, I've found real supportive communities online, which have been a great help so as not to feel so alone, especially as a teenager (not unlike you did, I'm guessing). The internet also ruined my mental health for many years, the effects of which I am still fighting. It's so, so, SO addictive and I can't decide what's worse, knowing it's addictive and not being able to live without it, or pretending not to know. And I know it's worse for my younger cousins because at least I didn't have access to iPads as young as they have now. I think we've gone too far.
@@isabellp.5730 It's terrifying because even now as a full grown 40 year old adult I still have to check myself from reaching for my phone, like, all the time. I refuse to let my kids have social media at all. I know, because back in the before times in the 1900s, (and we're quickly approaching the point where people like me who were born in 1980 will be thought of like I think of people born in 1880) we used to have Lan Parties and internet cafes that online friends can be and are often real friends, but when I scroll through, say, Facebook I notice that on a lot...not all but a lot, of comments there's comments on those comments where the new commenter tells the original commenter what a piece of trash they are and I wonder what that does to a young kid's psyche? Being told you're a piece of trash constantly for commenting on something when someone disagrees. I...can't imagine it's good.
So I was 20 when you were born, probably. In just those 20 years, a blink of an eye in the course of human history, things have changed more than they did for thousands of years before that. It's quite literally a new world that even now most people aren't sure how to navigate. Evolution never prepared us for this.
His special that this is from is one of the most hilarious, sad, and poignant things I've watched in a long time. I highly recommend it. Also pretty much any of his songs is worth reacting to. They're always hilarious, and always make a deeper point. He's a brilliant artist.
"Inside" is a masterpiece and should be watched by everyone at least once. Please react to All Eyes On Me (Hands up), which in my opinion is the best track from his special. That and White Woman's Instagram.
Awesome track. Someone posted a pitch-shifted version earlier so you can hear it in Bo's regular voice. I love the original, but you gotta hear it this way too. th-cam.com/video/X3UQFVMdPYU/w-d-xo.html

Your facial expression were spot on. I had a lot of feels listening to this. The disturbing and insightful and funny things. This is such a truth bomb.
One amazing thing about this special is he did all the camera and lighting and sound setup, the lighting control, and edited it all together himself, in one room, over Covid year. Notice him picking up the little remote on his keyboard to cue the lighting changes. You guys should check out his live song "Can't Handle This (Kanye Rant)."
I just discovered this guy yesterday and I'm burning through his videos. So far this is my favorite and your reaction really enhanced it for me! More please!
You two are wonderful. I've periodically checked around for reactions to this song of his specifically. The pair of you are some of the only individuals reacting that actually understood what it was that Bo Burnham was trying to get across. You've more than earned what little I can do to give kudos and thanks. You have my sub and like.
So I have watched Bo since his first videos on TH-cam back when it was still very new. His growth is absolutely unbelievable. I highly recommend going back and watching his stuff from the beginning.
His film is brilliant. Even when he titled it "Inside", during the pandemic, when we are all limited in our movement, but in fact, he means what is happening inside ourselves, won me over 100%.
I'm glad I discovered this mad genius of a filmmaker/comedian and there are so many layers and interpretations to take from this song alone. Not even mentioning how personal, intimate, and emotionally relatable the rest of the soundtrack is on top of how he instilled so much of himself behind and in front of the camera. It is quality content like this that keeps Netflix in the game regarding the streaming wars and allow them to shrug off numerous controversies that they get caught up in. Otherwise, one takeaway is the internet is a tool that we as humanity ended up abusing and have changed the way we interact and rule society towards our own detriment. It is the greatest and most destructive invention we have made, only for it to be the reason we are stagnating ironically enough. Anyway, check out the special and don't be surprised if you put this banger of a soundtrack on your playlist! X)
This is how a reaction video should be done. Listening, reacting and discussing with a flow that doesn't disrupt the thing that is being reacted to. The fact that there wasn't any annoying pauses and the big discussion was done at the end makes me happy. This reaction also covers the deeper meaning in the song which is great because most reactions just cover the music and lyrics, not the message that is being broadcasted. You earned a sub and my respect S and M!
Bo Burnham is a comedian, screenwriter, and gives social commentary. He did it all in his room inside quarantine this last year. The Netflix special is called “Inside.”
All of Bo Burnham's stuff is great, but caution if you wanna 'react' to any of the netflix specials specifically. His new one ("Inside") is amazing, but any reactions are getting hit hard from Netflix. His youtube songs and clips are usually safe though. He likes to tote the line between hilarious and uncomfortable, but almost always has deeper meanings to be pulled from his stuff. (Mostly, some are just pure comedy)
6:44 in the special there is another song where he literally says "your fucking phones are poisoning your minds, ok, so when you develop a disociative mental disorder in your late 20's dont come crawling back...(he interrupted his rant)"

Bo Burnham is absolutely next level. A good follow up to this song is That Funny Feeling from the same special. There’s no video for it on youtube tho, unless a fan has uploaded it and it hasn’t been taken down. So you’d either have to do the lyric version (which is fine, since there’s no really visual component to it) or watch the netflix special
This is just one song from his Netflix special Inside. Watch the whole thing at least twice. I’ve seen it four times since yesterday. And it’s “Burn-um”
Never heard of Bo Burnham but heard inside worth a watch. Happened to do magic mushrooms and put this on. Unbelievable experience, watched it 3 times in a row and passed out. Woke up the next day and watched it again with a more sober mind, and my thoughts were the same. This is one special watch.
I am 44. I remember the world pre-internet. We did a lot more shit outside. We still had encyclopedias but if you wanted to know something you went to the library, something not many people do now adays.
You two are the first I’ve seen that really “get this!” Thanks so much for a great reaction. Next, try: “How the World Works” or “All Eyes on Me.” He uses different styles of music and sketch comedy. If you can, find the (4- minute plus) version of “How the World Works” with the visuals because he’s singing a song for children with a sock puppet on his hand. It starts silly but turns dark when Socko sings. Thanks 🤪
i watched this vid so many times it’s weird to see it flipped on screen haha. thanks for not pausing at the tone shifts and just appreciating the song. best reaction to this FOR SURE. you guys watched it through then actually analyzed it and really appreciated the lyrics. so good

Honestly the only reaction video I've seen where the reactors actually understand and appreciate what they're listening to
Thank you so much Nicola. We really enjoyed the video.
It's so cool to see people's first reaction to this song and see them appreciate the themes in it.
I now know I've watched welcome to the internet too much when I could tell at the line "Have a look around" that the vid was flipped
Mom said “a much better place”, Let’s start listening to mom….and dad but we need to check ourselves. True story
i don't have anything useful to say but i really appreciated your thoughtful response to this
i hope y'all get a chance to watch the whole special, i watched it last night and it's... wow. like really good y'all. thanks for the reaction!
My kink is watching people react to anything from "Inside" and actually understand it.
Elom musk sort of mentioned the internet basically makes us into all knowing cyborgs, the key is learning to filter the false data from the knowledge.
There is a famous modern quote..... "In the age of information, ignorance is a choice."
You two are the first I’ve seen that really “get this!” Thanks so much for a great reaction. Next, try:
“How the World Works” or “All Eyes on Me.” He uses different styles of music and sketch comedy. If you can, find the (4- minute plus) version of “How the World Works” with the visuals because he’s singing a song for children with a sock puppet on his hand. It starts silly but turns dark when Socko sings. Thanks 🤪
He’s great. All his stuff is brilliant
i watched this vid so many times it’s weird to see it flipped on screen haha. thanks for not pausing at the tone shifts and just appreciating the song. best reaction to this FOR SURE. you guys watched it through then actually analyzed it and really appreciated the lyrics. so good
Bo is a genius. To come to that conclusion from just this song means you're pretty smart too.
“It was always the plan, to put the world in your hand.”
We can’t have people sitting around, thinking and shit.
A much better place is the damn truth.. I remember when a stick was my favorite toy and my ass better be home before the street lights came on
