As a journal maker there is no better compliment to me than my books having purpose, being used and being loved. This is wonderful Liz, I’m loving the ICAD system. I think it will sneak into my system too. Thanks for your constant inspiration! ❤️❤️

It’s not simple at all. Getting everything you need takes physical effort not an exchange of money. Quiet is nice but isolation is painful.

Thank you for sharing! So many journal flip throughs have me asking, "where do you write?" I love your idea of using index cards and using a paper clip to attach it or washi tape. Love this!

A great idea. You, Wendy, Grammie and Gayle are the “go to” for me. Someday, I may be in your world of creating, but I better hurry up, I’m getting old. Love watching not only for the ideas, but it is relaxing.

Do you decorate and sew things on your pages before you bind them in your journal? How do you sew things on a page when it’s already in your journal?

    • @MrsCog
      @MrsCog  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I sew most of the images, tabs and drippings onto the pages before I sew the signatures into the binding. I made a video a while back on how I attach things to a journal or book that is already bound. th-cam.com/video/EBnVu-om1dE/w-d-xo.html

Thank you for explaining and showing your ICAD system! I also appreciate you sharing how you're using a journal like that because it can be intimidating once you receive one to actually start using it without feeling like you're going to ruin it. I always find your videos so informational and inspirational!

I NEED ROUTINES, and LISTS ... or I don't function well. I'm going to make one of my pretty journals I just bought into a "Control Journal" kind of thing. THANKS FOR SHARING AND INSPIRING!!! AND the ICAD system.... oh, there will be lots of TEA/COFFEE dying going on here SOON!!!! Great Video!!!

Love this idea. I live in a log cabin on a river in Illinois. It was an old 1930 hunting lodge that Mt husband and I spent 15 years, pay as you go, fixing up. We don't have bears but we have a pair of great horned owls, deep, possum, groundhogs, raccoons and all numbers of delightful birds, my favorites being the woodpeckers of all sizes, and of coarse the stunning cardinals and yhe humble titmouse and my wake up calls in the summer mornings..the tiny wrens. I love them all. Thanks for sharing the ICAD system. Looking forward to seeing your garden this spring!

I'm a bit late here, (& not necessarily a homesteader), but this was an excellent video about using our journals in so many ways.
your idea(s) easily transfers to a prepper type journal or even for a house or vehicle maintenance type of journal. or for keeping track of pets needs: feeding, medical, etc.
can't wait to get going and make these types of journals.
LOVED the quote on the front of the journal 💕

Thank you so much! I see so many TH-cam videos on HOW to make a junk journal (which I just learned about a couple weeks ago) but nothing on how to use one. I was beginning to get the opinion the only draw to them was in the making of them. I currently use a journal that is similar to a junk journal in that it includes a complete diary for the year and ephemera is already printed on each page. It includes sayings and vintage artwork. I rarely use the actual diary part - mostly only fill it out after special events or while we are on a trip. I use it mostly like a scrapbook and insert my memorabilia into it. I purchase one for each year from the same company. The notice just came that the diary for next year was due to be sent to me around the 10th of October unless I send the card back telling them not to. Since learning about Junk Journals, and finding them fascinating, I have debated on if I would like to make one for next year and use that as my diary. Until I found your video, I wasn’t sure because I wasn’t exactly sure HOW to really use one. Now, I think I will give it a try. Thanks again!

My son has a dream and that is to build a log cabin in the country.. in stages.. with self sustainability in mind... I am pretty sure he will make it happen. I think he would be so interested in what you have to share... I love how you have spoken about your well, generator and solar panels and how you have written everything down on your index cards.. just love it and also that you mention it is a journey... that is what is important...enjoy the journey. Thanks so much! We are actually on the grid but with the ability to live comfortably off it. The best of both worlds. Cog is a writer but we have put some videos of our little homestead on his YT channel over the five years we've been here. You can find them in my YT playlist here. th-cam.com/play/PL8dMaK0RkkBJJOzDKWS17-Tp4wJtRVfYb.html

Thank you for sharing how you journal in your junk journal. I live in the suburbs and always though how lovely and uncomplicated it would be to live in the country, but wow I'm thinking maybe not. Tfs. Sue💜

It’s not simple at all. Every one of your needs takes physical effort to fulfill rather than an exchange of money. Quiet is nice but isolation is painful.

elsa Grace Hi Elsa, I’m not sure how to take your comment, I only meant that I was unaware of the difficulties of living in the country, not having lived in the country or away from other people. Do you live away from people?

Hi, a friend thought that you had a journal making video from go to wo, for newbies, but as you have so many to go through, I was wondering if you could let me know where it is ?. I would love to watch it.

Thank you for sharing with us!!! I love seeing those if you with such amazing journals share how you use them!! Your journal from Wendy is gorgeous!!! I also love using coffee dyed index cards but have never thought of embellishing them to that extreme and using one a day to write down something on!! I love that and will be using that idea for sure!! As for as the country, I’ve grown up in the country! We are in between right now and will prob always stay in our very small town (like with one red light) lol but we love country life!! ❤️

I so enjoyed this video! I loved your journal. I have a simple note book that I had to do the same thing in. My husband when he was still in the military. And was either TDY or deployed. I had to know how to do or fix things. He is now retired and with the blessing of God home all the time. But you have inspired me to transfer the info to a beautiful journal. I have been wanting to do one on our home. Tyfs. Can't wait to see more of your work in this journal. Hugs V

Elizabeth your video couldn’t have been better timed for me! Love love love it. We just closed escrow on 7 wooded acres with ponds and streams. A new chapter in our lives as we begin to develop the property for our retirement homestead. Your journal is brilliant! So excited to get one going! The well driller comes Saturday! Yay! Now I will have the perfect avenue for organizing thought, ideas, maps, plants, animal life, oh my the list goes on. Whoop whoop! Thank you, thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much Julee! You must be so excited to move forward with the next chapter of your lives. Make sure to ask the well driller before he leaves what the "static water level" is and what the "recovery rate" of the water in your well is as you use it. It's amazing (in a homestead geek sorta way) to learn all the things that go into our comfy modern living. Happy homesteading and journaling, hugs!! :-)

Mrs Cog thank you fir sharing your homestead wisdom. Lol I love being a homestead geek. I have been to the water masters office researching wells, depth, static levels, gpms and water quality of the wells in the surrounding area. It’s fascinating!! Hugs to you! 💕
