These were fantastic live. Got War Crimes album when it came out in 88 and was so excited to see them live the first time (at the Richmond, Brighton, UK). They did not disappoint. Saw them lots.
The 'A' stands for Anarchism. The 'E' stands for Egalitarianism although Flux used to to stand for Ecology/Environmentalism. Either way this is a classic record.
The (E) is for equality, ironic though as anarchy is a rejection of ideological constraints and pre-set dogmatic ideas of what one “has” to be, or what one is “expected” to do. As such are not the A and the E at odds? Who enforces the equality? Who specified the assessment of equality? As such, and under the A solo, I am only there to speak for myself, I have no need or want to speak for what you do or do not with yourself or your ability, as such I expect the same in return. The emphasis on Equality as an idea is always humorous to me here. Is it equality under the law? If so, then why have anarchy attached? Is it equality under a state, as law is an apparatus of it. Is it equality under a peer group? Well that sounds an awful lot like hierarchy and coerscion to be like a group.
@@DiamorphineDeath please read more. anarchy is not the absence of rules. the world is, after all, not made up of individual systems but social/interactive systems. if you believe it is the former and the latter is authoritarian please stop using the joker from batman as your reference point for anarchism. anarchism as a political belief system is about destroying the alienating power of the state and says we as communities can carry out the administration of society without the power of government and corporations ruling over us as individuals.
Still a classic, but I don't understand why people call them crust punk, they sound like a hardcore punk band to me. They were more influenced by hardcore punk bands, you can see in early pictures the members have Negative FX, Discharge, Negative Approach stickers on their instruments. Crust is slower, dirgier and very influenced by doom metal. Amebix and Antisect, the founders of crust punk sound nothing like this, they are much slower, have no blast beats and are very heavily influenced by doom metal and politically by bands like Crass.
@Swiatek702 Ok, after some googling (? :) ), I found that it is more progg (a pletora of genres, common in the 70's Sweden not proggrock or progr. trance) that is socialist, hippies were/ are more anarchistic. It was a cultural clash that brought me to that mistake.:)
