    -----------------------
    On teams up with Emmy®-award-winning director Andrew Hinton to bring you The Man with the Halo. This inspirational short documentary tells the unfathomable comeback story of Tim Don, the fastest Ironman triathlete of all time, after breaking his neck in a cycling crash.
    Coming just days before the Ironman World Championships, where Tim was a favorite to top the podium, the crash looked to have ended not only Tim's hopes of becoming World Champion, but potentially his career.
    Despite the long road to recovery ahead, Tim's resolve to fight for his dream was clear. Walk the comeback trail with Tim on a journey filled with bravery in the face of adversity, determination and, above all, inspiration.

    What a great and inspirational story. I am recovering from a C-1 fracture. I'm out of the halo now and I'm in the process of weaning myself off a hard cervical collar. I had been training for my first marathon when I broke my neck. I've set my sights on finishing my first marathon next year. I've been riding the Peloton and doing PT on my lower legs. The doctor says running is still a few months away, but I'll get there. Seeing Tim's grit and determination to bring himself back from his traumatic injury was an emotional and motivating experience for me. Thank you Tim for sharing this window into your journey back to Kona.

    Hi Tim: Following your story and watching this documentary, I feel like I’m you. You see I also broke my C2 vertebrae in a cycling race last August. I was also 39 years old at the time. Unlike you however I opted to have 40mm screw put into my neck. I would love to come to Boulder to meet you. I will send you a message via Facebook. Thank you for sharing your story. Good luck in the training and I’ll be cheering for you at Kona 2018 👍😀

      Peter Luftensteiner hello! I had my halo off about 7 weeks ago now and was in a hard collar for two weeks and now home free! As lateral movement is between c1 and 2, my left movement is restricted a bit but it’s a consistent improvement, I’m back to an almost normal life now. It’s been a very frustrating summer, but I’m ready to move on with my life. How’s it going for you?

    • @peterluftensteiner4376
      @peterluftensteiner4376 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      rory baker nice to hear you‘re doing good! summer was also rough for me but in my case they had to do a surgery where 3 vertebraes are connected by screws and some metal. in two days i will be allowed to move my head again which is pretty hard atm, but they said i will get back almost 100% of my mobility 🙌🏻 guess we just have to be glad to not be paralyzed after all. i only had the stiff neck but no halo, can‘t imagine the torture from it 😧

    I just recovered from my C6 and C7 fracture after snowboarding in this winter 2018. Had HALO for 2 weeks, didn't work, had to do surgery. Even Halo for two weeks was nightmare and hell, especially trying to sleep.

    8 years ago, I decided to self-train for triathlon in a province in the Northern Philippines that hadn’t even heard of triathlon. To keep me company, I’d turn to my heroes in the magazines and on TH-cam. And here was this Englishman, testing a Venge, eating his ‘jungle oats’ doing his own ‘moderate, medium and mad’ runs training and I thought: ‘ This one. This guy is one of my heroes.’ Bit odd, funny, hippy-cool and yeah- I go for the unique heroes. Well, heck, Tim Don! You might’ve missed Kona ‘17 but you are now bigger and more iconic than that race. You, dear great man, are a unique, truly-your-own kind of heroic mark in the yhe history of Ironman. No champion compares to you now. Because you inspire us, in a far distinct fashion. You, Tim Don have come back to Kona and have made your own incomparable, heroic, inspiring legacy.

    Wow, an amazing story! I had a cycle accident in 2009 and had a head injury and 11 broken bones in total including two vertebrae in my neck and 3 in my back. Sadly, those 5 are still broken and give me constant pain and the maximum I can do on my bike now is 2 hours before the pain is too bad. Your story is inspirational to me and quite rightly to others. It bought back many memories but thank you for telling it and sharing your journey.
