ROT.. 30 yrs ago it took an entire semester in college to learn these. It took Alux 18.5 mins. Unreal. In my experience the most important number is sales & customer retention/experience without these the others measurements don’t matter. When you are at the top/ peak of your business, celebrate but do not become complacent. There is always someone working on taking your business down. Thank you Alux. I recommend a same video about stock market : ROE, EPS, etc...

    Dear Alux Team,
As a Business Head of $ 60 Million Dollor BSE Stock listed company in Mumbai , India, I always go with following Numbers :
    1. Topline Revenue - Total Sales.
2.Bottom!one Numbers - PBIT level Numbers.
    3.Volume Numbers.
4.80/20 Principle in monitoring Sales and Marketing Activities.
    5 Revenue Collection Numbers..
Though, there are other several Other Coordinates to run the Business, there very critical at Macro level.
It's a Good Video and It's much needed Refreshing One for me.
    Thanks for developing and sharing...
All the Best for Aluxers and Alux Team...
    With Warm Regards,
    MM Rao

    Good Job, ALUX
...The first thing that I tell a person that asks me how to go into business ...for fun and profit
    DEFINE THE MARKET
...look at the last 3 months as the commercial rug was pulled out from under everyone in the world, again (2008, 2001)
...This entire ALUX issue was rendered inert
...as the 'numbers people' spent 24/7 analyzing how and why (and what next)
...the seat of the pants 'motivators' were counting their 'Trump Cards' (no pun intended)
...on the brink of 'coming back', the 'little businesses' were faced with the beast (the public) as hoards of 'feral humans' destroyed their own neighborhoods ...again
...now the 'numbers people' are soothing themselves with specious statistics and the 'little guys' will eat out the hand of any 'romantic business geek'
...we can watch as the MEDIA finds more and more news to stoke the fire of fear ...again, and again
99.99% of the world's MARKET is FOOD ...THE FOOD STANDARD
literally, everything else comes in a distant second (less than 1%)
A meal is paid for and eaten with no equity value to account for
...the other side of the coin goes to CAPITAL (ownership of value) NET WORTH
The electric car was invented in 1850 but was shelved in favor of OIL & GAS 'MARKETING'
...LAND, PROPERTY, OWNERSHIP, BANKING became that 1% of tangible assets ...CAPITAL
...next, came insurance, law, politics, government tyranny in various forms around the world
...NOW, it's THE MEDICAL INDUSTRY (they lost 75% of the Publics Faith)
CHINA REALLY SHOWED THE WORLD (and themselves in the process)

Normally I don't do this but Apple for NR3 is just a bad example, take a cheaper less elite/popular brand and you had a legit point and here is why: If e.g $1500 a phone cost / $450 production cost, + R&D, electricity, designers etc = near its 1500 per unit, then you missed your mark, why? Material cost is actually constant per unit the rest dilutes per unit (its 1 design, all employees are paid per year, rent of building per year, electricity cost per year of producing that specific piece of phone); if apple sells 1.000 units for 1500 e.a = they lost money, if they sold 10.000 units = they are equal, if they sold 100.000 = they have profit, if they sold 1.000.000 = fat ass profit (arbitrary numbers ofc). Which of the cost = constant? material cost of 450$ the rest dilutes. Their brand and material cost is what selling the 1500, there many great alternative smartphones who are much cheaper then the elite brand. Apple makes high quality stuff don't get me wrong.
Another example is Nintendo (apple version in gaming market). They sell mario in 100 form (sports, platforming party games) they ask FULL price and seldom discount, they ask FULL price even after 3 years, they got a freakin brand even though their games are good, they are not perfect. AAA titles dilute their prices over time. If you say nintendo's R&D, electricity, material cost etc is higher then the others, please.... dont lie to yourself. Another E.g Minecraft - 1 guy makes the best selling game ever, if he only got 1000$ of all his work he put in to it, yeah not woth it. however he sold milions, yeahhhhh worth it..... ROT/ROI
I only commented because you talk arrogant with your apple point, but its a bad example...

I got confused with your explanation of equity..
In the explanation, it seems that equity is the percentage that you own in a company..
But what if the company has tons of debts..then it means that the percentage you own in the company isn't precisely what you own, because the liabilities(in this case debt) still needs to be subtracted, then the remaining amount is the equity..
