  • Even though the electric bike rider was an A-hole initially, and he nearly put me in hospital with a ~60-65km/h relative speed head-on crash, I decided to respect his privacy and trust that it was a one-time event. On top of that, since he has a delivery box at the back of his bike, there is a chance that he delivers food/stuff for a living, and I do not want to take away his income source by preventing him from going on an electric bike, both legally nor mentally. Therefore, please stop asking me to reveal his face.
With that said, the videos have been sent to external legal parties for record-keeping and can be sent to law enforcement for further actions if it is really necessary (like if I notice that he still rides like that).
This video is a reminder to every cyclist or electric bike rider to be aware of the surroundings and ride considerably. Stay safe out there.

Mixed feelings on these: on the one hand, it's alwys the biggest a-holes that seem to use e-powered devices fast on the pavements and through green-man crossings etc (more often than car drivers, although obviously car drivers have their own fair share of shame here). But at the same time, there's been an abject failure by the government to properly regulate these machines. Looking at how many food delivery riders use them, this could be the Pride of Hong kong - a clean, fast, electric bike fleet delivering food all over the city. Put the right spin on it and it's the "tech/innovation hub/green" blah the government looks for in every statement on development. So why doesn't the government OWN the technology, support it and promote it? Instead they ignore it, a few police operations to crack down on them, meaning product and rider safety culture tends to the "wild west".

This is one of the most logical comments I have ever seen on my channel, thank you so much! 😊 Totally agree 👍🏻 I feel sad to see Hong Kong government being extremely slow when it comes to regulating new technologies

There are a lot of Hong Kong grand ma grand pa cyclist who ride really dangerously as well. And I have seen a lot of very polite foreigners. Hope everyone respect the rules and safety🙏
