@@keymonkey7352 I was going to make a similar comment. Yes, that’s why the specs are so different. It’s also why maybe he felt no power was coming from the “Pro”. I hope his arm is okay. That’s the first time I’ve seen Nic complain in any way regarding arm pain.
I'd like to see you try the Technifibre TFight ISO series. It has received a lot of good feedback from tour players and the general public. Medvedev, Swiatek, Collins.
"I'm moving better with this racquet" it's the new tech. 😂 I remember getting a new racquet and playing like a totally different player. I enjoy your mental commentary. It reminds of how much self talk goes on.
There is an important remark near the end of the video: the low power return of the racket (the Pro) forces the player to swing harder (and possibly with a different gesture that the player is used to) and create arm pain. This fits my own (limited) experience. I never, ever, got any glimpse of arm pain or discomfort from playing with a PD for 5 years, even strung with polyester strings (23 kg). On the other hand, one hour with a lighter and more flexible racket (Head Graphene Speed S) strung with Head velocity (a relatively low power multifilament) leaves my arm sour for 3 days because that requires one to swing the hell out of it to give the ball some action. I think the cause of arm pain is more frequently due to the technique you need to use with a particular racket than the object itself. The more relaxed the setup allows you to play, the better.
Yeah I agree with you. Most people think that a flexible racquet is more arm friendly, but a flexible racquet has less power so you need to work extra for the ball to have pace. A stiffer racquet will be more powerful so you can work less for the same output and save your arm in the process.
@ Yes, I followed that controversy… it’s possible that in many cases it’s the dead polyester strings that cause stress, not their stiffness, which can be easily counteracted by lowering the tension and not leaving them on for too long. I like the “feel” of polyester, which I find very direct, responsive and with a feedback that allows one to gauge immediately how good or bad the shot was. Multifilament nylon is nice and comfortable but I find it introduces some mushiness and uncertainty and makes it difficult (for me) to “calibrate” the swing.
@@IntuitiveTennis Nick, this story about RA got me thinking. Better said, it got me thinking even more. I played for 20 years between the ages of 14 and 34 and never had any elbow pain. I am now 55 and have been playing tennis again for 3 years. The first 2 years I played with a Babolat Pure Drive, a Dunlop FX500, and an Ezone 98 (also in tournaments) and had no issues. All high to medium (Ezone) RA rackets. But I switched to a Blade 98 (RA 61) at the beginning of this year (a super fine control racket, I love this racket), but,..within 2 months my whole elbow was wrecked. It started with a tired, heavy arm, and then unbearable pain in the elbow when I played a tournament. I stood on the sidelines for 7 months. Pain or a tired arm was never a problem with the other rackets. I thought it was the Blade because it has a very low RA of 61. But everyone contradicted me. Wilson Blades are soft and therefore good for your arm. But I doubted. I am now playing tennis again and after 2 weeks the misery started again; pain in the elbow again. I have stopped playing tennis for now, but I will definitely start again in 2025 with the Dunlop or Pure Drive (RA of 69 and 70) to see if that really makes a difference. Thanks for your story.
I think there is definitely some truth about a racket making you move better. Every time I pick up my Prince Graphite Oversize, I tend to move much faster on the court and just smack the ball with spin even at my old age, but soon about 15 minutes of playing the reality hits me hard 😢. Good luck choosing the right racket (a very tricky process), really enjoy watching this series.
I got the same control (good thing) with some arm pain (bad thing) with ultra pro. I have a sensitive elbow due to a previous injury. At the end, I chose a blade v9 98 (16*19) with no arm pain with a natural gut/poly hybrid (the same 20.6mm beam). It sprays sometimes. But much more stable with lead tapes (total of 4-6g: 3,9 o’clock & handle). Still 2HBH is slightly tough with the blade 98 sqin, open. I wish you test gravity 98 tour 2025 as well 😊 Considering you like 100 sqin and openness, I guess gravity MP (295g, 16*20) may be the best with some lead tapes. Not very thin beam but good control. Please continue the test series until you find the best. Great fun to watch👍
Another great one! I think the new 2025 Head Gravity line will definitely be worth a try. I had a suggestion, although this will probably greatly drag out the production time to make each of your test videos. I was just thinking you may not be hitting at your best if you’re using the “pro” or heaviest version towards the end of the day. Since you’ve already been hitting for quite some time with the other 2 versions. What if you only hit with 1 racket per session. That way you can adjust to it throughout the day.

Everyone has a different muscular structure as far as muscle memory, length of extremities, so many different tendons that some may have calcification or the surrounding muscles may have scar tissue...everyone is different when it comes to how it feels when holding a stick and swinging it one's way. Thank you for sharing. Really liked your analysis of your shot. I have many rackets and like to rotate them. From a stiff to a flex racket, balls often land short, like when you switched to 100 pro. I wonder if it makes sense to aim higher, rather than swing bigger, for better depth.
Seems like you clicked with the Pro as soon as you picked-it up. Shots on wall were right-on target. But did notice you were swinging harder and shots seemed flatter. Set-up opponent for some winners. Arm fatigue may catch up later in match. Lighter versions seemed to lack control. Keep up the awesome videos.
Hi Nick. I love your videos and this series so far. I hope you find a racquet that fits your play style. I would love to see you start a play test with the Walmart racquet just for fun at least once.😂
Nordicdots Model 99. Think it would suit your game, very special stringbed setup (more open bottom half, more dense pattern top half) 16x20. And your friend Jonas helped develop/test it!
Maybe to try to factor out any "day form", take a "control group" racquet that you know you'll be comfortable with and see if you still are not playing that well with it on that day too
I’ve been playing with most of the racquets after the initial test. The ones in the final play test will all have been tested numerous times to count out day form. Some have been disregarded bc of day form as well
@@IntuitiveTennis Also wondering (you might have covered this already), but even though you know your playstyle and prefer you know you prefer power racquets, are you considering testing racquets that aren't power racquets?
Great question. I’m willing to give up some of the power, but generally for true control racquets like Head Prestige it makes no sense for me to test. I really dislike the feel
Ultra Pro has zero dampening tech. Great feel and connection with a flexible frame. But the sweet spot is small and off-center shots are surprisingly harsh. I had to add some weight to hoop and handle to get it to play well for me.
I am using a special edition wilson ultra 100 for a 8 month and as my experience ultra rackets causes an arm pain when they lost performance of the strings so the pain might be caused by your strings rather than the racket.
I think I heard some high pitch sound on the 100 frames and you were always rearranging the strings. The pro sounded like always. Were the 100s strung with syn gut?
All brands that tries to mimic racquets from another manufacturers fails almost always. Specially Wilson. Everybody tries to imitate the Babolat Pure Drive and Pure Aero, nobody can.
Nick i think you should try Pro Staff X - it’s my racket of choince since almost one and half year, and there is a perfect blend of power, control and stability. I think you can like it because is close to heavy pure drive.
Did you try to play a bit with the weight? I felt a bit the arm on my racket the same way as you described when hitting a bit harder and added a bit of weight 5grams on the handle and couple at 12 to keep the balance. Pain dissapeared inmediatly like magic.
Kind of defeats the purpose of the playtest for viewers when you customize them. Most watchers probably want to hear how the rackets perform for him in their stock form.
@@testing8811 Yes but he is trying to find a racket for himself not just testing for giving feedback so is also a posibility if at the end of the video instead of disregarding one he can keep one if he thinks that customizing can give him what he wants
Coach, or was it all psychological and you played better with the Pro because you wanted to like it because of the awesome color scheme? kidding... or maybe not kidding idk
Nik, what about Pure aero 100 or even 98? 100 is much better than prevoius version, great for both two hander and forehand. Previous version was terrible for two hander, at least for me
i have this version of the ultra pro 16/19 and i like it a lot, but you really need to be on your game since it will not give you any margin. i also find it to be fairly string sensitive, so when using thinner gauge, i get a better feel with it. put weight on the hoop for more stability and it's great. i think you should stop trying out the L versions of these rackets. Seems wouldn't fit your level of play since these lighter rackets are for the intermediate and below set.
I've often wondered if pros carry a variety of rackets in their match bags other than string tensions. Maybe start the match with a heavier racket and then switch to a lighter more powerful racket as they get fatigued. Of course, as pros they can get the rackets all painted the same so only they know the difference. The companies don't care as it is simply about the branding to them.
Too bad you can't get your hands on the Ultra Tour 95, only available in Japan, 27.25 length, about 3 pts head light, 340 ish swing weight. Very different from the rest of the line up
I tried the Pro a few months back. The one I got felt low powered and was getting pushed around too much. I think that it is too light for the type of racquet it is.
Will you be testing Prince frames 🤔 I believe you used to play with an OPG as a junior..? I also played with mid plus OPG's and replaced them with Austrian made Head Liquid Metal Prestige MP's. Great racket for my 1hbh.. I believe the following racket is within your specs and the extended length would suit your 2hbh.. Prince Tour Diablo MP Head Size: 100 in² / 645.16 cm² Length: 27.25in / 69.22cm Strung Weight: 11.5oz / 326g Balance: 12.59in / 31.98cm / 8 pts HL Swingweight: 317 Stiffness: 60 Beam Width: 19.5mm / 19.5mm / 19mm String Pattern: 16 Mains / 18 Crosses
Wilson ultra pro (formerly tour) is a known platform racquet that many pros have used. At the minimum, It needs weight in the hoop to bring up sw. Anemic without. Tim smycek showcased his in this tw video th-cam.com/video/v9s8BfITDks/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Zrzs_zw76DC9gFdA
In reality, if he picks a non-sponsored racquet, he will paint it so the brand and model remains unknown. Wilson, Yonex, Babalot, Head, Dunlop and Technifibre are more likely to sponsor a player than a coach. That narrows down to Diadem or Solinco. Given that he has not reviewed the Solinco racquets, he might be working on a deal with Solinco.
i think these play tests are stupid. Atleast the way you're going about it. If you play well, you love the racquet and if you don't you hate it. At this rate you'll never be 100% happy with any racquet.
The Pro or 'H19' is a great racquet but it's not for everyone. It feels very raw to me, no tech to reduce vibration. Some like this some don't. It's not arm friendly IMO. Also it has a low swingweight and most players will want to add lead to the hoop. This low swingweight is particularly noticeable on the two-hand backhand. Without lead it feels anemic and low powered. For context, my current frame is the Head Extreme Tour. Similar spec to the Ultra Tour but I prefer the feel and extra spin. The Ultra Tour is a bit too unforgiving for my level.
Thats surprising that you developed an arm pain that quick with a racquet. Have you considered trying it again with different strings? That aside though I cannot blame you if you honestly did not like the Ultras. I tried different versions of the Ultras and besides the Ultra 100 CV I did not like any of the others The 100 v4 is not great and besides the Pro Stock it seems like Wilson has abandoned the Ultras. In my opinion Dunlop FX-series are better than the Ultras now in every way
1970s technique. Rac stopping in front of the nose during the fh swing and catching it when hitting the wall. When on the court rac stopping opposite side near the side add in front, only caught it sometimes. 1970s fh backswing too. More like modern WTA. Nothing pretty about style. Didn't pay any attention to rac demo. The only rac's that matter are Yonex. Nothing else exists 😕

Ultra Pro has nothing to do with the Power mold of Wilson Ultra … it is based on the classic H19 . Why they call it the same is actually misleading

The ultra helped me angle it off (and a bit of luck) 😂
Too bad you can't get your hands on the Ultra Tour 95, only available in Japan, 27.25 length, about 3 pts head light, 340 ish swing weight. Very different from the rest of the line up
Wow didn’t know
Nick will you try any of the Extreme line?
Not sure
I might
The Extreme Tour (Pro as it's now called) is definitely worth trying.
I tried the Pro a few months back. The one I got felt low powered and was getting pushed around too much. I think that it is too light for the type of racquet it is.
I agree
Will you be testing Prince frames 🤔 I believe you used to play with an OPG as a junior..? I also played with mid plus OPG's and replaced them with Austrian made Head Liquid Metal Prestige MP's. Great racket for my 1hbh..
I believe the following racket is within your specs and the extended length would suit your 2hbh..
Prince Tour Diablo MP
Head Size: 100 in² / 645.16 cm²
Length: 27.25in / 69.22cm
Strung Weight: 11.5oz / 326g
Balance: 12.59in / 31.98cm / 8 pts HL
Swingweight: 317
Stiffness: 60
Beam Width: 19.5mm / 19.5mm / 19mm
String Pattern:
16 Mains / 18 Crosses
I love Prince but not sure if I will test. This series must come to an end soon. Prince probably will not make the cut
Try Head Radical MP and Head Gravity Tour 98 (new 2025 model) 🎾🙂
Nick, is the Wilson Shift 99 one of the finalists?
Shift 300g is 💯
@ Nick, would the Shift 99 fit a OHB?
@@johnnacke4134 It can
Nikola,
Are you going to try Yonex Vcores that is 95, 98 and 100? And what about new Head Extremes in 98(Pro) and MP(100)?
Not sure yet, would like to try them but do t want this going on forever
@@IntuitiveTennis Understood. Same for me as well
Check some of the VOELKL racquets you will not be dissapointed.
Not sure if Völkl will make the list, great racquets tho
Ultra Pro frame looks very similar to Blade series actually🙂
Some similarities but much stiffer feel on Ultra
i think these play tests are stupid.
It is raw 💯
please try the carve all court 100
Never heard of that one
Will there be prostaff v14
Gonna pass on Pro Staffs, not suitable for me
Maybe you feel it in your arm beam cause of the ultra 100, 70 ra is very much.
😂 no
Thats surprising that you developed an arm pain that quick with a racquet. Have you considered trying it again with different strings?
That aside though I cannot blame you if you honestly did not like the Ultras. I tried different versions of the Ultras and besides the Ultra 100 CV I did not like any of the others
The 100 v4 is not great and besides the Pro Stock it seems like Wilson has abandoned the Ultras. In my opinion Dunlop FX-series are better than the Ultras now in every way
Why try a 280g Raquet when its obviously intended for women or junior players?
New Ezone might be a winner!
It’s not even that different. I don’t think he’ll like it if he didn’t like the previous version.
The biggest loser😅
I don’t think I have ever met someone who plays with the Wilson Ultra. How many does Wilson sell? Seems like it should be discontinued.
It’s a great players racquet.
I play with an Ultra V4, I see a few at where I play tennis. I’d say it’s more popular with women than men at least from what I’ve seen.
I've been playing with Ultra 100v4 for the past couple of years since it was released. Love the frame.
Ultra pro 18x20, should be tested as well, test no more, you cannot find a racquet with better feel than the ultra pro, either 18 or 16,
Maybe @tenncon Becket Chung can help you in this journey, you should make some videos😅
