Nice work Josh. Maybe like yourself (and a lot of others) I'm an inquisitive bugger, yet find after a while it's like being hooked up to a 1000 volts (maybe 1000 volts aint much). I absolutely love the silence and stillness that comes after saying 'Enough'. We tend to forget that looking outside of ourselves (too much), can be incredibly disempowering and disengaging (guilty), yet I get this strange feeling that 2025 is going to be a tipping point where we intuitively know it's time to turn inwards. All perspective of course, be well Sir, hope your reflection shows you've had a ripper of a year...with a few learnings. Cheers 🙏
Interesting! I’ve always struggled to get to into podcasts but when I have listened to them it’s often felt like opinions are being spoken like they are facts so can be hard to know what is right/wrong!
I had a similar realization yesterday. Every time I learned about a new perspective, I compared it to my old perspectives and if it was better I adopted it. Yesterday I learned about the existence of a perspective that was complete opposite to one of my old perspectives and it proved my way of thinking wrong. I then realized that comparing new perspectives to old ones does not prove them best, or better. This is because you can only make the best decision based on the information you have, and I now realize that I know nothing. Wisdom is a process of constant refinement.
I stopped listening to Steven Bartlett. I was really enjoying the podcasts until i realized there was a lot of contradictions. One guest would make a statement about something and the next would say the exact opposite. Another great video, all the best for the new year
His show is the gold standard for misinformation and contradictions from one week to the next 😅. Incoming; Paralysis by analysis. Thanks brother you too 👊🏻
Josh, the Video you have made, is something special. On all the Vids i have seen of you, this Time you are talking very seriously, you are right and thats why you get all my Respect. I hope, this Year will end for you positive. There is a Time for everything, some funny and interesting and also serious Things. All i have seen from you, shows me, you are a great Gut. All the Best for you in the Future, stay the Way you are !. 😉
It becomes quite a quandary.. we seek knowledge and information but is that information trustworthy (hard to tell when even internet searches are being manipulated now)... Listening to a podcast is not in of itself a bad thing, but taking what people say as gospel truth can be dangerous. Just like the bible tells me to do with teachers.. test them. Hear the info, apply logic, research and confirm or deny the truth or plausibility of its words. Without the desire to seek knowledge we can become complacent and/or stagnant but it is good sometimes to just take a step back and smell the proverbial roses. Enjoy the smell of your garden my friend
Exactly that, there’s no regulation on information because it’s much harder to debunk something entirely than it is to make something up or share a strong viewpoint very convincingly without a counter argument. Podcasts are amazing and are invaluable at the right times from the right people 👍
I used to listen to Rogan, but then I realized that I prefer to listen to exceptionally smart people. (He has on a lot of normal people). So I switched to only listen to podcast episodes with exceptionally smart people on them. Lex Friman for example is more likely to have on exceptionally smart guests. That way you are exposing yourself to a level of intelligence that is exceptional and rare to encounter in daily life.
@@100toeface great take, when I return to listen to pods, I think I’ll still prefer to take frequent breaks though to implement things rather than trying to absorb (quite often irrelevant) information constantly. I view JRE more as an entertainment pod rather than informative. Thanks for the comment!
Nice video. Information is great, and many people probably don't think for themselves. I guess it's better to take the information with a neutral mindset, until it can be tested to see if it's true.
Exactly that mate, pods can be great but if it’s either totally contradictory information that’s just opinions or just regurgitated information we’ve heard before, it’s just more noise imo. Thanks for the comment 👊🏻
I stopped listening to podcasts mostly too. After a while it's all the same. Same guests, same conversations, etc.. Once in a while if there's a unique guest + podcaster I'll sort of listen in the background though.
Why the freak would you want to listen to a bunch of know it alls on podcasts? If I listen to a podcast I listen to something what is entertaining not some wannabe guru who’s want to tell everyone how to live their lives.
Maybe the issue was that you were listening to podcasts a young age and just needed some more life experience to build your own ideas. They could be something you come back to after you’ve got clearer ideas. I’ve learned a lot from podcasts, they certainly offer different perspectives on life and can be entertaining even if sometimes they are not always educational.
I agree completely in a bid to not repeat myself I actually cut it out of the video, thanks for the comment. Podcasts have been invaluable to me, just in recent times, I’ve found most podcasts to be conflicting, opinionated and a bit repetitive during a time that implementing what I already know is a better use of time 👍
Never watched podcasts as I prefer to absorb factual news and information and process it myself. Podcasts tend to try to influence and are just a vehicle for someone else's opinion.
Back in the day I usedf to buy magazines. Mixmag, Muscle & Fitness, MBUK.. Kerrang, Metal Hammer... I miss magazines! Some magazines I would buy even though it was a case of deja vu. Seen this before. Heard that before. Likewise every Rogan interview. Blah blah blah DMT. Blah blah blah we love youuuuu machine elves stoned ape. Blah blah blah pussyfoot around something carefully to keep the millions coming in. I listened to an Owen Benjamin interview recently and thought, wow that's good. Tuned into some more Owen interviews and it was the same stuff. He's talented but the repeertoire is not wide. He's doing a bit. Again and again and again. A bit like a stand-up going on Letterman, they do their bit. Their well-rehearsed bit. A bit from their shows.
I stopped listening to this podcast after 2.38 - it doesn't stand up to cursory examination. Sounds as if the problem is that you're unable to process newly-available information - you're describing an intellectual glass ceiling!
I think the intellectual glass ceiling is you misunderstanding the context of what I’m saying and jumping to several conclusions. There’s a difference between not being able to process newly available information and not wanting to process new information when you already have enough to implement. More doesn’t always = more 👍
@@josh.onthemove And 'as much info as I feel I need' doesn't always = 'enough to come to correct conclusions'. That said, I too sometimes feel overloaded. Still loving your travel vlogs though!

You probably explained this better than I did in the video. Totally agree, thanks for the comment mate and hope you have a great finish to ‘24 👊🏻
Interesting!

Exactly this, they’re an amazing resource and super interesting at times but most of it is regurgitated ideas and conversations reworded 👍

Haha that’s a good take
You need to use your ability of discernment. Easily influenced people do not stand a chance. Clickbait rules the space. Garbage in, garbage out.

Certain podcasts will keep you single as well, they’ll turn you completely against women to the point you detest them.
