      What s different between Pashto and dar ?

    • @crikeybikey1
      @crikeybikey1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sheilashamp504 pashto is spoken among mostly pashtuns in afghanistan and pakistan. dari is very similar to farsi or tajik, and from what i understand it is a very common second language in afghanistan, and the language that the pre-Taliban government was conducted in (i think). they share some words but are grammatically quite different. have a good day

    I came across a man with his two sons today looking for a halal market. I'm a convert to Islam and I recognized the language as pashto from hearing bits and pieces here and there. We tried our best to help him, but it proved very difficult. There seems to be quite an influx of Pashto speaking Afghanis in my state, so the wife and I are trying to learn at least basic phrases.

    I am just learning. I was a teacher and speech therapist before I retired. I only speak English. I hope you don't mind two suggestions that makes learning easier: 1) look into the camera straight on - it is very hard to follow a person when they're moving or when they are not facing straight on to the camera. 2) break up the words into syllables - say each one slowly. Thank you. I hope to learn many more phrases.

      That's interesting, James. I am a native Urdu-speaker. I was at my local Afghan restaurant in Queens (NYC), and the owner asked me what my mother tongue was. He was disappointed it was Urdu, as he thought my accent was like that of a Pathan. Inshallah (God willing), I will learn some Pashto before I see him again. Pashto is a very beautiful language and the Pathans (sometimes also known as Pashtuns through the media) are a very honourable people. Good luck with your research.

    Nice channel! Thanks. My father was a yusuf zai pashtoon from swabi, but I was born and brought up in Lahore. I understand most of pashto but speak only a little bit as my father died when I was 3. I absolutely love the language. Its music to my ears.
    The difficult part it that ethnically I cannot call myself a punjabi and when I say I am a pathan then the question is put forward that why do I not speak pashto. Moreover, sometimes pakhtoon shopkeepers in punjab start talking to me in Pashto automatically because of my looks. I feel odd not being able to reply in proper pashto! Now my son does not know a word of pashto, although his grandfather was durrani from peshawar.😕

    Excellent lesson. My mother is a Yusufzai but the language was never taught to us as children. I was born and raised in Pakistan and can speak Punjabi (and of course Urdu) because we lived in Lahore for many years. But our family left for the U.S back in 1980 when I was 18. I wonder if Pashto is taught in Pakistani universities to non-native speakers or someone starting from scratch.

      Hi again
      We are originally from Laghmann in Afghanistan.
      Officially there is hard and soft Psshto but I feel we all have our subtle differences based on regions.
      I've never felt like I couldn't communicate or understand another person speaking Pashto, whatever her or his region. Sometimes I just have to be a little more attentive :)

    • @Mujiboy
      @Mujiboy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The one she is speaking is the Nothern Dialect. So people in Peshawar, Swat, Mardan should be able to understand this dialect (Thats the Paksitani sides) as for Aghanistan it is spoken there but I am not too sure which regions will understand you. Balochistanis will not understand this because they have a different dialect.

      Pashto is a language, and a pashtun is an ethnicity. However, many pashtuns also do not speak pashto as a first language.

      No it's not Khandahai.
      We are all volunteers with Laghmann heritage so our dialogue is very slightly different. Kinda like British and American English, there are variations but also alot of similarities.
      As you progress through these lessons it will become easier to understand the dialogues.
