Louis Prima was from New Orleans. New Orleans in the 1800s was the place where most immigrants went to. It was extremely wealth as it was the main shipping port for the entire interior of the country

Growing Up Italian at IAFL! This TH-cam episode is heartfelt appreciation for the relative dynamics of the Italian American culture. So grateful to see and hear IAs whom I follow through social media networks, in discussions about various points of view specific to their experiences! My favorite interview question is: "what do appreciate about your Italian American upbringing?"
Thank you to the Italian American Podcast founders! Thank you to the Russo family! And, mille grazie a Umberto Mucci of the We The Italians social platforms to promote and provide ongoing U.S. Of A and Italy international relations! Happy Valentine's day 2023 to everyone!😍🙏💟💚👏

Great Idea! As French Italian 🇲🇫🇮🇹 3rd generation, I feel a bit part of your community that we completly lost in France where Italians were more assimilationists

Excellent episode guys! I had a great time at IAFL with all of you, the Italian American Podcast Crew, Mr. and Mrs. Russo, and especially all the 'Fellows' as John liked to call us! This was such a great weekend, getting to know you guys and working together with you, IAP, and the advisors to help develop a framework for the future Italian-American community! I am looking forward to what the future has to hold for our Famiglia across the nation! Can't wait to update you all about our path in Cleveland, OH as the Fellows expand our visions and values!

Do you know that that "Italian hand sign" really means WTF?/WTF are you doing?/WTF are you saying?
You Americans keep using that sign in wrong contexts.

Congratulations on what you all do. I'm a big fan of GUI. I'm 100% italian and 100% Roman Catholic. (I guess everyone wants me to say I'm IA)
I respect what you do, I know it's not easy. Keep it up. One suggestion If I may -
PLEASE use Rossella as a consultant and participant. She embodies everything that is italian. As l view her - "Rossella, 100% italian, 100% the real deal". She validates. She maintains the Spirit, and everything else in between what it means in being an italian. She is like the undertow of the ocean. Always there for you to remember the STRENGTH of where/what we are.

One major hindrance to the "Italian" diaspora in America that needs to be addressed and worked on is that many people who actually are "Orthodox Italians" (as Rosella Rago likes to say) and are extremely committed to their culture still view Italy as the land of tribes and do not recognize being "Italian" as one cohesive block in which to identify.
Meaning......many people are still so hyperfocused on the heritage of their own region and even village (which is okay), but does not lend itself to seeking solidarity with other Italian Americans who in some cases are viewed just as foreign as German, French etc to them.

Italian culture is disappearing all the generations that were
Born in the US aren’t keeping up the traditions or passing down the family Business. Bensonhurst was a microcosm of what was inevitable . Save your mother and Nonna’s recipes because just cause you make sauce on Sunday doesn’t mean you’re preserving your heritage

The Italian culture started to disappear when Italian migrants arrived in the USA, what you have right now in the USA it's an Italian subculture, usually stuck in the early 1900 and it's typical of America, not only USA, at least Italian Americans unified "Italian" food, in Italy we still have regional cuisines, they are more variegated than the Italian American cuisine and usually a Sicilian doesn't cook Tuscany recipes and viceversa. An Italian American nonna cooks a mix of neapolitan/Sicilian/Calabrian food with what they find in the USA shops, a Sardinian American nonna usually doesn't know anything about Sardinia cuisine, especially if she arrived really young or born in the USA, she usually cooks Sicilian/Calabrian/Neapolitan recipes that she learnt in the USA, she lost her Sardinian culture and heritage when she left her region.

Are you dense. They are talking about growing up Italian American. It’s in the title of the video. This content is geared toward American Italians. Most of that understand that, so when they say Italian we know they mean Italian American. How is this hard to understand.

OK Guys love you ! BUT i told you this before if you want to strive on you-tube and grow your channel you have to stop putting down the Medegones !!! Look at the title " Italian American Future Leaders " .That may include them its insulting and i think you guys need to mature and stop thinking you are better (because that's the way it come off ) or you will not succeed in this Journey ! It takes all kinds to be an Italian American ! Thank you .

That was literally the name of the convention that all of us & guests were involved in. We love everyone who appreciates their italian heritage. At the convention we had 4th & 5th generation Italian Americans from New Orleans, Cleveland, San Francisco. Places we never even met italians from. It’s important that even people who roots date back that far appreciate their Italian ancestry.
