I'm 36, been listening to Megadeth my whole life. These songs never cease to amaze me. This is hands down, one of the greatest pieces of music ever written.
@@fogzax Mine too!! Hands doooown!!! Best intro of all their songs and arguably of all metal I ever heard!! (this though: th-cam.com/video/hZKJLEWLoFs/w-d-xo.html comes really close!! And oh boy, do I wish I could find a demo take like that on THIS MASTERPIECE!! This track also got some seriously raaaw and brutal riffs! And one of the fattest most epic set of lyrics AND!! Not to for get! Last but definitely not least.. Their purest most powerful, absolutely soul-piercing solo to date!! But sure.. it's not their longest, not at all! And not their most complex, not by long shot! But the most reverberating, soulful, transcending scream of absolute purity I've ever heard.. it always hits me every time.. and I must've heard this song over a thousand times by now. Coz this was the first Megadeth album I picked up! My first introduction to metal and thrash metal specifically. And what an introduction it was!! Especially at the age of 10 or possibly 11.. A friend of mine - still my best and to this day, longest and still lasting friendship btw - had a brother, five years older than us. He both bullied us a bit from time to time, when his sadistic side needed to be feed, haha!😏 But more importantly, he introduced us to waaaaaay too much shit we probably weren't ready for!😁 Anyhow.. this album is still my personal favourite to this day, with "Rust In Piece" as a close second. Oh, and.. I'm 35 now btw, so I had some time to listen to this magic..😉😋
@@gigachad69775 Shitty. My best friend died from alcoholism, I have diverticulitis and pancreatitis, I have no work and I just lost my home of 23 years. I'm about ready to just un-alive myself.
Sometimes best riffs and songs come out when the artist is on drugs very heavily..you think Dave was sober during first three albums?...Still one of the best albums made in the 80´s.
I grew up with this and never noticed the horns till i heard the remaster now i cant un-hear them, nightmare. EDIT they ain't that bad, everytime i see this comment i start singing the horn lick in my head. Good to have multiple versions! \m/ O_o \m/
Thanks for the heads up! Now Ill be sure to avoid that. Yeah I dont know the fuck is up with re-masters where they end up sounding like shit. Too much tinkering I guess.
@@TH-cam-tied I don't understand, you hate a remaster/remix for doing its job? For bringing out the parts you could never hear before and increasing the genuine audio fidelity? How is that a bad thing? The horns were always there in the first place.
@@copyofacopyofa Megadeth remasters are garbage, they sound far worse then the originals - I can't listen to them. What's even the point of remastering albums that don't sound bad? They should remaster And Justice for all so you could hear bass, not this lmao.
agree, but i'm sure the original i bought back in the day never had the horns coz i was horrified when i heard them on the cd version i bought a few years ago.....or was i dreaming??? they're bloody awful either way
I never heard this like this...i so fucking LOVE this! You can hear all kinds of shit you can't hear on anything else! I better get me a record player :P
It's probably my favourite Megadeth song/s of all timeso can't argue with you there although the rest of the tracks on the album are mixed so I would have to give Peace Sells the edge as an album.
So let me ask this... I just bought a record player and got 3 of Megadeth's album....including this album. On the record... i'm guessing mine is different because in the start, I hear more horns during the intro. Is mine the remastered version?
+adam99x2004 Hi Adam - it sounds like your version is the remixed one done around 2004 - I had no idea the horns were even in the mix until I heard the remix. You can hear them very very faintly in the original mix (the one in this video). I prefer the original mix because it is the one I grew up with but with Rust In Peace I got the remixed version first and mostly prefer that so I guess its a matter of preference as to which one you like best.
+fogzax I grew up with the one you uploaded as well and was caught off guard hearing the horns in the remix/remastered version. It's growing on me because of the fact that I've never heard it before...but yeah, the original will always be better.
this album still today my favorite record from DETH.
Jeff Young is so underrated.
His solos on the album fit perfectly
He's the only dude I know that can come close to Chris Poland.

So underrated - no-one ever seems to mention Set the World Afire - my fave from Megadeth

Lyrics, riffs, solos, drums, bass, analog production vocals and the songwriting that is the glue. It's all in there.
How's life been going at 39?

Wow the sound quality it's just amazing
Incredible Music... Probably why I've been a fan for over 30 years
Sounds better than the Fake Capitol Records lp i bought
I still have the original on vinyl that I bought back in 1988. Glad to see I'm not the only one who still has the Original. Thanks for the upload!!!!
Me either.

I'm pretty sure the first album Dave was actually sober for was Youthanasia xD maybe not even until Cryptic Writings.

Thanks
now that sounds sick
Quality sounds so good.
No good...I still can't unhear the trumpets.
Mood!
This sounds fantastic. I have an original 1988 CD of this and it sounds damn good. The 2004 is good for the alternate mixes and thats it.

horns were a horrible addition to a perfect song. Like painting a mustache on the Mona Lisa.

It's a Systemdek iix900 - an 80s deck
