Fortune and Glory is one of my Top 5 games. This game has a lot of firsts for me. First game I sleeved (that card stock is awful), first game I made an insert for, and the first co-op game I played. After all these years, I still enjoy it and I still have to reference the rules all the time. One of the funny stories I have from this game was by happenstance, one of the treasures that showed up was The Book of the Dead. Playing with a bunch of Evil Dead fans, it was a mad rush to get that particular treasure.

I'm a fan of A Touch of Evil, so guessing I'd enjoy this as well. Thanks.

Thank you for the re-review, Cody! I respect and value your opinion on games, but also enjoy your showman's knack for presenting them. So, a few weeks ago when the reprint was released, and knowing your bent towards both thematic narrative games (as a gamer) and the first half of the 20th century (as a scholar), I sought out, found, and watched your "breakup" review.
Despite your critiques, and yet taking them to heart, I went ahead and ordered it, as the Interwar pulp adventure theme is probably my single favorite out there. (Like you, I am also a theatre kid, for the past decade have been performing and recording Old Time Radio dramas live on stage. I also grew up with the pulp-revival of the 1990. So as long as I can recall, 1920s-50s adventures and (what became known as dieselpunk) are my nerdy niche.) Anyways, in the end, I bought the game for theme alone, and was willing to forgive gameplay weaknesses as it was still more convenient than gm-ing a full RPG campaign from scratch.
But your new review, and refreshed appreciation for the game, really has me wanting to get it to the table now with my regular gaming group, rather than waiting to assemble a group that was theme-first. (And also puts my mind at ease for my birthday-game purchase choice) Thanks you, sir!

I find my gaming tastes go in cycles. I may get bored of a game after many plays but if I ever loved it at some point, it has to stay in my collection because a few years later I'm gonna miss it and get the itch to play it again. FANG, ATOE & SOB are all FFP games that I could never part with.

I am pleasantly surprised to see a review of Fortune & Glory. I own the first edition. My family and I love this game, and we were able to play it recently. I enjoy acting out the cliffhangers. Currently, I’m on the hunt for some miniatures - a submarine, a cargo plane, and something like a 1930s Mediterranean diving boat - to enhance the fun and small enough to fit the board size. Ohhh…, I have a hat that could pass for a Fedora; I ought to try that next time. As always, I enjoy your reviews. Thank you.

It’s such a great bonkers, dice fest of game. I love it. I like it even more because it doesn’t pretend to be anything other than a fun game. I have the original and all the expansions. Waiting on the next expansions which I think have been in the pipeline for over 3 yrs.

I apologize beforehand; I’m going to totally over do this:
I used to think the thugee priest in The Temple of Doom was a man after my own heart. Then I realized that my heart really wasn’t in it. Now, I think that scene is just heart wrenching. You could say that I’ve had a change of heart.

Great review Cody. This is one of those games that I learned about a long time ago and always wanted to get it. However when I finally decided to pull the trigger on it the game was out of print and the price was going through the roof. So no game for me. However earlier this year when I found that they were doing the reprint it was an instant buy for me and I had it on the table playing it the day that It arrived. I have played this game solo and Co-Op a few times each and these are both my favorite ways to play. Co-Op I will say 2 player is my max count and solo I play 2 handed. So I guess that you can say that my favorite way to play is with 2 characters in the game. I absolutely love this game and I am currently waiting for all of the expansions to get there reprint and I will be getting those on day 1 as well. I am glad that I could help you get this one back to the table. And yes that new box and Index... Sexy :)

I missed out when it first came out. But they did 2nd print. Its in the Coffin Baox. It picked it up and the Rise of the Crimson Hand (Asain enemy faction). I like playing the Germans the best only because of the Indanna Jones feel. Really like the clifhangers. I am going see if I can download the latest rule set.

Thanks, very good review. It really makes me want to try the game. Do you have some sort of top 5 video? Edit: lol, found them! :)

I prefer ATOE to this one only because I find the rules in F&G are super fidlly and confusing as times. The theme is fantastic though.

As stated, there is some fiddlliness here for sure. Still, great game.

My grandma who was a dominatrix in the 1980s used to refer to herself as the Indiana Jones of Soho....
    ...
    ..
    ...
    ...
    ...
because she and Indiana Jones both took a ride on subs.

See.... don't give games away lol. There is a trend in your last few videos where you describe giving games away then regretting it.. just saying lol
