Yo Truett, good on ya for the attempt. 2 ideas for you. 1. maybe weighted pullups could engage a subset of muscles that are not engaged as heavily during "endurance" pullups. Everybody wants to be a beast until it’s time to do what beasts do. Keep inspiring us all brother. We’re rooting for you. And I’m going to keep getting after it myself. 🔨🔨🔨
I hope this makes it through to you. Regardless of what you decide to do with your training, look after shoulder dynamic stability. An increase in shoulder stability can help increase force production by 24% - that’s a lot. So get on the cuff work, lower traps will be key and serratus anterior to keep that scapula-humeral rhythm healthy. If not, the lats are crazy powerful and will over power joint stabilisers which could drag the humeral head into impingement and ligament/tendon shredding territory. All the best legend 🙌🏼
It is all good learning :) One thing which i'd recommend is having days where you do slower reps and touch chest to the bar, less reps but perfect form. Remember you should ideally be training the full range of motion even if you don't need it for the actual challenge. Rest is key but rest doesn't necessarily mean doing nothing - active rest is better for recovery. Look into P.N.F. stretching. You got this!
Most people criticising you cant do pullups. You will get it. You motivated me to do some more pullups. Btw do you recommend I cross my legs when I do pullups?
As you said, endurence is the name of the game. Have you considered doing any work to specifically targeting your slow twich muscle fibers, to jack their strength up? Dude, 1000 calories during a 24 hour challenge? I think I was recommended this video to tell you this: I'm a cyclist and we routinely take in 90+g carbs per hour on the bike. You should be drinking sugary drinks and pounding easy to consume carbs like white rice all day. We call running out of glycogen "bonking".
You can always push the button 1 time for 10 reps and when you hit 100 you’re done. It’ll would make it easier for clicking and resetting but it might have a less dramatic effect to your audience. Not sure if you care about the latter, but just a thought. Keep on buddy.

Crazy impressive dude 😮. I know a huge part is endurance as well but I’m just curious if figuring in weighted pull-ups for reps days before attempting the record again would make the attempt feel “easier” as it would require less strength and endurance in comparison to the weighted pullups.
Can you talk about the overuse type injuries you encounter by doing this much volume, the area where my tricep meets my lat around my armpit flares up like crazy when I start doing volume of 300+ pullups in a day
First of all, great job. Very impressive. Second, if I could, I'd like to provide some unsolicited advice as an athlete (jiu jitsu, calisthenics, weights, a little bit of running, etc.), someone who used to be very overweight, and someone who is married to a licensed physical therapist. I think that it really hurt you to go into an extreme caloric deficit for at least a month straight before a 24-hour, strength-based feat. I lost about 50 pounds (230->180) and now sit around 190-195, most of that gain being muscle. Through that, I've learned that any deficit will hinder strength gains, but the deficit that you were in downright eats away muscle. I think that you would have been way better off if you just maintained or even had a slight surplus. I guarantee that you lost muscle and strength from that severe of a deficit which far outweighs the fat loss. Anyway, feel free to throw this in the trash, but I hope that it helps. Love your content!
As a former gymnast, tending to your callises might help. I cut them with a nailclipper to keep them thin enough that they don’t rip off. But then again I’m not doing 4k pullups
I've been doing 100 pull-ups a day for 70 days straight (goal of 100 straight days)so far but what is most challenging for me is my forearms get extremely tight(also doing my regular lifting routine). Any tips on how to overcome this tightness?
Im trying to get 1500 in 6 hours and hopefully by the end of the year 4100 in 24 hours, currently trying to do a 100 day i dont know if this is the proper way to train for a 24 hour attempt or if I should be doing other things as well?
You should probably keep a honey bottle by your side and chug some from time to time just like Hafthor did when he was training for the 501 kgs deadlift haha Good shit man we all believe you're gonna be able to do it !
Dude you are super inspiring. You got this, don’t think of it as failure just think of it as your first try. Regarding people who have done these kinds of endurance things, Online I found out the person who has the record for the most push-ups in 24 hours - almost 50,000 And it hasn’t been broken in 30 years, He’s older now but maybe you might be able to get in touch with him, not sure if he has how to contact him. His name is Charles Servizio.
I’ve been working out consistently since I was 15, but didn’t take it seriously until I was about 18. I’m now 26 and yes it does take years, but the results happen very quickly when you first start out. Build the base now and your future self will thank you. Definitely a lot more confidence since I started working out and much stronger mentally and obviously physically. All positive and I highly recommend!

Hey Truett, great content! Have you tried weighted pull-ups to help with this challenge?
Truett why dont you like duct tape the sponges to the pull up bar doesnt it get annoying holding them?
How do your finger joints feel, and if they hurt, how do you help them get better?
Any idea on when the next attempt will be?
What brand jeans you rocking?
Origin! Made in the USA, pretty cool
I've been doing 100 pull-ups a day for 70 days straight (goal of 100 straight days)so far but what is most challenging for me is my forearms get extremely tight(also doing my regular lifting routine). Any tips on how to overcome this tightness?
I’m confused… you already made a video of you breaking the record. Was this made before you broke it?
That is absolute gangster 💪💪💪
Wondering, do you think weighted pull ups could also be beneficial? By example 200 but with a 25lbs or 45lbs, etc maybe 2 times a week?
Goggins Said He did that.
Im trying to get 1500 in 6 hours and hopefully by the end of the year 4100 in 24 hours, currently trying to do a 100 day i dont know if this is the proper way to train for a 24 hour attempt or if I should be doing other things as well?
how do you have enough time to do this
You should probably keep a honey bottle by your side and chug some from time to time just like Hafthor did when he was training for the 501 kgs deadlift haha
Good shit man we all believe you're gonna be able to do it !
How long has it taken from when you were a skinny guy to what you are now? And how much more confidence has it given you?
I’ve been working out consistently since I was 15, but didn’t take it seriously until I was about 18. I’m now 26 and yes it does take years, but the results happen very quickly when you first start out. Build the base now and your future self will thank you. Definitely a lot more confidence since I started working out and much stronger mentally and obviously physically. All positive and I highly recommend!
@@truetthanes Appreciate you answering means a lot, love the videos, they're a big help motivation wise now go get that world record!
