I do love the history segments! Thanks for the story of Mary Shelly and Frankenstein. What a coincidence the the cinema showed the movie right over the foundations of the house she stayed in! 😀 x
Thanks ever so much Amanda! The street where she lived in is now just flats, but when you look back on the map when 'the cottage' was there, the grounds are half the size of the harbour!!! We are guessing that all the cinemas showed Frankenstein at the time, but if Mary Shelly had known ... I wonder what she would have thought! xo
You found some lovely pebbles, and I thought that the green milk glass that Nicole found was so beautiful. Thanks for the history, Craig! The fact that the grassy area is the original sod is pretty amazing, too! Thank you for another enjoyable video! Take care! ❤️🙏
Thanks so much Ruth! I love milk glass and these green pieces are from 1930s tiles, so are almost 100 years old now :) It's pretty amazing to think that small grass area is the only surviving old piece of grass in Dundee! Glad you enjoyed the history ! Take care xo
Whilst there were not a lot of the finds you were hoping for, we found those pebbles quite beautiful. Lovely colors and patterns on them and well polished. History talk was great Craig, thank you. Sue and Ian, Australia
So glad you found Jasper and Agat, I have tryed to beachcomb here I live with one of my grandchild, but we did not find much, but a lot of beutiful small rocks and other stuff. Love driftwood. Like to see Nicole make things from that, if you are picking them now/sometimes? (I saw that lantern you made, lovely).
Thanks so much Inger! It's mostly being out and about and searching for things that is the best bit, so I am sure you made lots of lovely memories with your grandchild :) Glad you enjoyed the lantern! xo
The sky was worth it! :D Such amazing light, but yes, not so much in the way of finds! It was fun to visit the steps and try to imagine the estate and grand house that once stood there! Thank you so much! Best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo
Can hardly wait for Sunday. Northern Mudlarks and Scottish Mudlarks in the same day is a really special treat. Thank you for bringing us with you. I love your history lessons. Greetings from the U.S.A.
Agates, Peebles, and Frankenstein, perfect ep. Oh and I love the wee beasties! Thank you for including my photos, always a lovely surprise. Stay safe and well, Love Dena. x
Love the story of Mary Shelly it has to be said your videos are never boring. I’ve loved the idea of visiting beaches you have never been to before regardless of the outcome, you have inspired me to do the same and take a leap of faith, looking forward to Sunday xx
Thanks ever so much! Yes do check out new beaches, we have found so many lovely areas now and we used to just go to a handful of beaches. Hope you'll enjoy the Cabinet of Curiosities on Sunday :) Mary Shelley's story is so interesting and to think she lived in Dundee for a while is so strange....
Wasn't it just Christine!! Nothing like the Neuk that beach - I think it might have been rubble that was dumped there... Hahah yes Craig couldn't believe the length of that Barbie leg !!
I think it’s perfect you found a Frankenstein Barbie leg. Perfect for Halloween! A nice beach even tho the funds weren’t many. Thanks for the history lesson on the making of the Frankenstein story.
Thanks so much Lori! Wasn't the Barbie leg just perfect? It took a minute for Craig to sink in that body parts would be perfect for a Frankenstein special ;) Glad you enjoyed the history on Mary Shelley ! xo
Like my adventures not all outings are fruitful but you still enjoy your day. And I enjoyed your visit to Grassy Beach so thank you Craig for the history lesson ☺️
Thank you so much! Yes, you're absolutely right... we've really enjoyed doing the five new beaches and will definitley do that again at some point! :D So glad you enjoyed it! Best wishes, and very good luck on your next outing! Nicole & Craig xo
So glad you enjoyed that! She was a very interesting and imaginative person - but, for many in her day, a bit too much of a bohemian, free spirit! Thank you so much, best wishes, see you on Sunday! :D Nicole & Craig xo
Thanks so much Nuby! We didn't take very many of the pebbles and mainly display them in little bottles ... Nicole made some jewellery for our etsy shop with beach found pebbles :)
Aye! Thank goodness for that amazing sky! :D It's been fun visiting new beaches! We must do it again.... fingers crossed! :D Thank you so much, best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo
Hello, from California … thank you for sharing your finds! The ‘milk glass’ was an amazing find, the color is wonderful….can’t wait to see what you will do with your finds….thank you and have an amazing week! Ana 🌹
Thanks so much Ana! I love finding milk glass and that green piece is a tile from the 1930s, which makes it almost 100 years old :) Cabinet of curiosities on Sunday ! xo
@@scottishmudlarking thank you for replying. I’m a new subscriber I joined after meeting you with the “Northern Mudlarking” I just love your wonderful art work … you all have amazing talent. It’s sublime to watch your amazing videos… 1930 was the year my father was born. How special to find a piece that old. Again, you are so kind to have responded to me. All the best you!Ana 🌹
How fitting to find a Barbie leg on the Last "Leg" of your 5 beaches. Without that you wouldn't have had a leg to stand on ...with that beach.😁 Sorry, bad puns. I did love the historical bits. Thanks Craig and Nicole. 😊
Haha!! I really could have used those puns on the day!! haha!! :D Glad you enjoyed the wee historical snippets - we always enjoyed discovering these things! :D Thank you so much, best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo
Hi Nicole and Craig, Those pebbles are beautiful! ❤ Ever thought about a rock tumbler? Think they will look stunning after being in that machine. Sorry Craig, but the find of the day was that piece of green milk glass, not that creepy long leg. 😅 Thanks for the history lesson! I really like that. Learning something new with every video you make. Wishing you both a wonderful weekend with lots of sunshine and amazing finds. Big hug and lots of love, xoxo ❤, Ilona
Thanks so much Ilona! We haven't really considered a rock tumbler, as they are said to be noisy and it takes something like a week to tumble rocks... Hahah yes I agree, the green milk glass was a great find ! Glad you enjoyed the history on Mary Shelley :) Have a lovely week(end) xo Nicole & Craig
Loved the History! The pebbles at 5:15 would have been pretty as a bracelet. I pick up pebbles and stones everywhere I go. I have a beautiful wish stone that was gifted to me 🥰. Freaky Barbie leg 🤣. Thank you for the day out. 🦋 xxoo
Hello! :D It was a funny old day, though, as you say, so many lovely pebbles!! And that freaky barbie leg - lol Thank you so much for coming along! :D Best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo
Happy Halloween 🎃 luv the video. I always think it's so cool when the 2 of you find sumthin new or different. I think the turquoise-y plastic bits might be old linoleum flooring. Have fun.
Thank you so much! Sorry for the very late reply! That's so cool - they might be lino - we just found more similar stuff and mentioned that it might be lino - so thank you for pointing that out! :D Best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo
That first agate was a nice deeply colored carnelian, so pretty. That beach was full of beautiful pebbles. It looked like the sort of place to pick up small stones for tumbling. If you start making more crafts and jewelry with pebbles, this beach would be great resource. Please hold stones up to the light when possible, it really shows if the stone is an agate or not, and the color pops if it is.
There were indeed very many really lovely pebbles there - we will try to shine a wee light through them when we can. We might, one day, try to tumble some of these lovely stones - our place is a little too small for that just now. Thank you so much, best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo :D
Hi Nicole and Craig 🥰❤️👏🏻👏🏻 I watched and subscribed to your Channel , I think about a year ago and love it and can’t wait to see the next one I love the pebbles , the jasper and the green glass and the history 🥰👏🏻❤️🙏🏻 (LOL!!😁I saw faces in stones, and at 16:5017:00 is a tiny Frankenstein face just left of the green tile with a white hat 😁👏🏻( just me ) Have a great weekend 🥰🙏🏻🌹
Hi! Thank you so much for coming along on our wee adventures - so sorry for the late reply!! So glad you enjoyed the video - those pebbles were really lovely! WOW!! That one at 17.00 is so creepy!! I can see it now you mention them!! :D Very many thanks, best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo
Awesome video and history lesson on Dundee and the Author. Those stones were pretty nice too take care and stay safe and well. Bye the way have you guys been flooded or was that elsewhere? Hope your all okay. See you tomorrow 👏👏👏👍👍👍🥰🥰🥰💖💖💖🎃🎃🎃🌻🌻🌻🌻
Thanks so much Chris! We were lucky not to be flooded, it's more on the west coast and we are on the east coast... we have had rain the entire week though! Thanks so much for asking xo Glad you enjoyed Mary Shelley's history - the stones were probably the best finds of the day!
Well, now I need to re-read Frankenstein. I loved that red rock you found with the quartz stripe. Very pretty. I often times pick up pretty rocks and put them in my garden. Do you guys have spot for your favourite stones outside or do you keep them all indoors for projects?
Well you just never know if you will find anything on a beach you haven't been to before and I tend to not want to give up on a place.... Glad you enjoyed the Frankenstein connection Suzy :) xo
The steps were in situ whilst the cottage was still standing before it was demolished. Although the house is long gone the home where Mary Shelley stayed with Isabella Booth in Fife still survives
It was such a rainy day , we had to shelter in the car for a while and when we left it started pouring down! Nope, nothing planted, we didn't find much ... nice to explore a new area though! Thanks so much Dean

Hhaha Chris, yes the little beasties needed their dinner so we left that crab claw for them :) xo
That looks like a barbie doll leg Craig
It is a Barbie leg :) Craig just didn't have any as a child, but I had a few so recognized it straight away !! xo
That barbie leg makes me shudder.
Find of the day for sure ;) You wonder how things like that end up in the Sea! Thanks so much Mary
