    More! More! More! One of my all time favorite virtual run videos because you got everything right. Good pace, no stopping, great video quality, and no auto focus blur. Obviously, the Eagle Creek area is beautiful and couldn't be more so with the fabulous fall foliage. And, no matter how good a virtual run video might be, I just can't run to one that has no ambient sounds. And this one, although I had to turn the volume way up, was good. I enjoy hearing the patter of running shoes, people talking, kids laughing, dogs barking, and birds chirping. Its just like you're really there, the real thing. I even like the streets sounds of city runs. Although you can run them back to back I suppose, I thought your MacGregor Park and Cool Creek videos were a little short. They also have personal shadows which is not a bad thing but could be avoided on overcast days, or maybe by running midday. Cool Creek has the soft music which isn't as bad as some I've heard but, as mentioned above, I prefer ambient sounds only. Anyways, the Eagle Creek virtual run video is superb! Thank you!

      Thanks for this feedback, Eddie! I will make sure to up the volume on future videos. I guess since I just keep it to ambient sounds I may as well embrace that and set the levels correctly. Cheers!

      I also like the natural sounds of virtual runs. Which is why I don't touch the sound of my videoes at all. This way you'll hear all the sounds as if you were the one actually running. Including my own breathing. But in my opinion, this is ok, because then you have the choice to hear everything. If you don't want to hear it, or prefer music, then it's a better choice to put on your own music from your phone etc. The music that is allowed to put on TH-cam (because of the copyright) is not the kind of music people would want to hear while running anyway :)

    I'm also comparing virtual runs. Yours is smooth, but I'm wondering if you have the GoPro on your chest? For my eyes it looks as if It's a bit too low at times. I record my videoes with a GoPro with a head-strap, which in my opinion looks more correct while running along on a treadmill.
    Thanks for your videoes, good work!

    • @MilefortheCamera
      @MilefortheCamera  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the kind words! I shot this with the GoPro on a gimbal - so you are right about the height of the camera. It is about stomach level most of the time which is a bit odd at times. It would be nice if there was a head-mounted solution that was this smooth. The issue I have even with the gimbal is that over time the horizon gets off. I think 360 cameras could offer a new solution for this kind of video, but their resolution and image quality still need a bit more work before I think they could handle the task.

    • @VirtualRunTV
      @VirtualRunTV 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MilefortheCamera Maybe the best solution regarding height of the camera would be to have it in our mouth! :D
      What do you think about the height of my videoes, do you think it's too high? (remember, i'm 189cm tall, so, the camera is around 192cm above the ground)

    • @MilefortheCamera
      @MilefortheCamera  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@VirtualRunTV Man, I love the scenery you have! Totally jealous of that. On the height - I think yours is a better position than mine but perhaps still just a bit higher than ideal. How do you keep the shot so steady with just a headstrap? Are you shooting on a Hero 8 with the stabilization boost on?

    • @VirtualRunTV
      @VirtualRunTV 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MilefortheCamera Thank you! The scenery is ok now, but it will be way better from mid May. Right now the winter is fading out, and the nature is pretty much dead. But it will be spectacular in a few months, and I can't wait to record it!
      You are right, I bought a GoPro 8 Black, and I've use the following settings:
      4k 30 fps
      Lens: Wide
      HyperSmooth: High
      Bit Rate: High
      Shutter: Auto
      EV Comp: 0
      White Balance: Auto
      ISO Min / Max: 100 / 400
      Sharpness: Medium
      Color: Flat
      Wind: Auto
      I want to try some other settings as well, but for now, this is what I used on all the clips on the channel. I read that the HyperSmooth function is one of the things that has been improved on GoPro 8, and I'm also impressed on how steady it is. And about the height - yeah, we should develop a "runners mouth grip" for GoPro, to get the perfect height! ;)

    Impressive run. No way I could keep up with your pace but I am guessing you're a marathoner? Beautiful trails. Thank you.

    • @MilefortheCamera
      @MilefortheCamera  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! I do enjoy a full marathon from time to time. And after watching this back I feel like next time I should run a little slower when I film. Would love your feedback on the pacing if you watched it while on a treadmill!

    • @khomaha
      @khomaha 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A little slower next time would be great. :-) I am going to guess you were running about an 8-m/m for this video? Much too fast for me. I had to hit pause to catch my breath. I didn't think I was actually trying to keep up with you, but apparently I must have been, at least for awhile. May I make another small request, for next time? I only just discovered Treadmill TV a couple of months ago, and i have thoroughly enjoyed viewing most of what I've seen while I'm putting in my miles. I understand that, while filming, you are also trying to get your run in (your = those of you that entertain us with these videos, collectively), but when you cross over a bridge or some other area of high interest and beauty, can you please pause for just a few, to give us a look at the water/stream/surroundings so we get a sense of everything you're seeing peripherally? I think you guys take it a little for granted (the whole picture you're seeing). Us on the treadmill? We want to see it all! I love the trees and the trail, but a look to the sides (and don't zip it - zoom to the left, zip! zoom to the right, zip! straight ahead GO! - that hurts our feelings and makes us nauseous) would be a nice addition. Thank you so much for 1) taking the time to ask my opinion, 2) for consideration of my request for future filming, and 3) for making these time eaters! I love them and really appreciate the time and effort you and others like you, have put into it all.

      That is awesome feedback!! Thanks for taking the time to make those suggestions. I will definitely take some moments to get more scenery in the next video. I will let you know when I have one online for you to check out. Cheers!

      Gotta admit I don't mind it being so fast. I'm still working my way up to a 10-minute mile but the way you fly through the scenery actually helps me to push faster too. Love your runs!

      @@MilefortheCamera I appreciate khomaha's feedback but disagree with their complaints about pace and stopping to smell the roses. This is, after all, a virtual "run" video. There are virtual walk and virtual hike videos for the slower pace and scenery. Your video is perfect! Thanks!

    Great video!! It would be nice if you cold upload it also on Kinompa with your gps track, so it can be used on smart treadmills with bluetooth support. 👌

    • @MilefortheCamera
      @MilefortheCamera  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the recommendation! I haven’t heard of that before but I will definitely look into it. I have all the GPS data for any treadmill video I upload here, so it would be cool if those things paired together.

    • @juliusmotocikli
      @juliusmotocikli 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      iRunYourRace No problem at all. Just Kinomap has monthly payment of 10$, but it has this cool ability to keep pace and grade of treadmill as in your video when it is sync with gos track (tcx, or gpx). Treadmill needs to have smart bluetooth 4.0 and it should be supported by Kinomap. I have Xplorer treadmill that is supported by Kinomap, and I have account there, so if you want you can share gps track of this activity and I can test if and how it works and let you know.

    I love the camera so low - how did you do that?

    • @MilefortheCamera
      @MilefortheCamera  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! For this video I had an older gopro (3 perhaps?) and I had it mounted on a gimbal that I held in my hand. So it was roughly at my stomach level.

  • @philc9305

    For those that don't like the pace you could play it at .75 speed to go slower or 1.25 to go faster.

    • @MilefortheCamera
      @MilefortheCamera  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good tip! I've been told to slow it down a little bit on the next one! I think the quality holds up better when you speed it up vs. slowing it down.

    • @MilefortheCamera

      After using this particular gimbal for a couple years, I would recommend it overall. The only thing I would change is I would opt for the "quick release" version they offer now. The older version that I have has these screws that you use to mount the GoPro to the gimbal. These are really annoying to deal with when you need to do a quick GoPro battery change.
      Other than that, it's great. The batteries on the Gimbal last a long time. I have run a half marathon using the gimbal nonstop and it lasted for nearly 2 hours. I also have used it for a full marathon where I used it on and off for over 4 hours. It's a solid piece of equipment and worth every penny in my book.
