Aston Martin DB7 Review - One of my unexpected favourite drives of 2021! - BEARDS n CARS

  • In all honesty the Aston Martin DB7 is a car which I never had much interest in, regardless of being in its 6 or 12 cylinder form. But after driving the supercharged six cylinder version shown here, this timelessly elegant 90's GT has more than won me over. Smooth, beautiful and uniquely engined by today's GT standards, the DB7 is an excellent alternative to a used Jaguar XK or 996 era Porsche 911. So let's take a deeper look at TWR's brainchild, which led to the birth of the XK itself...

    My compliment to this video! The DB7 is one of the most underrated Classics in the market. I own an early DB7 i6 manual for ten years now and use it often also on long distance journeys. It proved to be very comfy, very reliable and also very economic in terms of fuel consumption and also maintenance if you know where to source the parts from! It is not a race car but will outperform many cars even by todays standards. I love this car!

    Always loved the db7. Has a handmade, imperfect feel to it which I love. This car saved Aston Martin. 6 cylinder cars are tremendous bargain and precious and few. Pure class.

    This DB7 is certainly the most striking Aston Martin Grand Tourer ever made and I absolutely loved it especially with the V12 in the later model specification.

    My old landlord had a new v12 in 2002. Dash trim literally fell off after hitting a speed bump. On following trip I lowered window and it stuck open. It looked stunning but was terrible and was in garage every week with electric gremlins. Yet it’s an Aston and being in it was something to behold! Shame it shared the floors with the XJS as they also love to rust.

    Completely agree on your Aston and Maserati take... the fact that Aston and Maserati were founded within a year of each other is telling. They are both a cut above the ordinary.

    so basically what you're saying is buy one with an automatic and understand Parts interchangeability with Ford and Citroen.

    Great review, I was surprised and enjoyed the over-narrative rather than 'to camera'. I learned that the facelifted model did come with the i6. i6 is my choice. On the handling, which you rate better than I understood the car to have, were changes to the suspension also made at facelift time, including for the i6 engined one?

      Cheers, and yeah I prefer my VO style as its different to what everyone else already does

    Thanks a lot for this video. Not many people on TH-cam say something positiv about the i6. I like very much your very precise comments about the good things and the more risky things. As an i6 owner I confirm that driving the car is pure pleasure. I can also confirm that buying a DB7 is not a very rational or reasonable decision but an emotional one. Apart from the i6 and its very specific supercharger sound (which I like) I prefer the smaller fog lights from the i6 thats fits to my eyes much better the initial design. Strangely the one you drive had the ones from the 12 cyl. Perhaps due to the very late i6 example one sees on this video.

    Love every angle apart from the rear. My ex father in law had the v12 in manual and it was brilliant. I have an X100 Xkr.

      Nice, and yeah I could see the back end being a little too slight or simple for some tastes. I love the rear styling on the Zagato version

    Every DB7 NEEDS the Driving Dynamics bodykit, it completes the look of the car. There's one up for auction on Car and Classic right now.

    Do you think you can tune the ASTON MARTIN Vulcan amr pro in forza 5? I just got it

    • @HSGAutomotive
      @HSGAutomotive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll most likely do a tune for it yeah

    I got the Jaguar because I knew it was going to be a lot easier to live with. Much more reliable, cheaper to buy and much better fuel economy. It's also faster and quicker. I think the interior looks nicer as well, it has a better auto and the exterior looks nicer. The DB7 is likely a better handling car granted but that's not worth the increase in cost.
