We were taught a bit differently but i think it still ends up the same knot iunno. Once you get one of those high qual adult black belts and wear into it, putting it on is so satisfying

other videos ive seen, didnt show what it should look like from behind. They would just tie everything from the front, without showing that you need to tuck the belt under itself. When i was putting the belt around me, I was making it cross from behind and wondered why it was so loose, thx!
I took taekwondo for a few years and I think the black belts were the same with the double wrap around but lower belts were simply once around with a square knot
Just FYI, I was taught to tie my belt this way too when I trained in Karate, Kenpo, and lastly Wing Chun. Trust me, every martial arts gi and belt follow the same method 🤣
I prefer this method, no cross at the back, wen I first years in judo my belt was way to long, I was way to skinny so my teacher told me wrap it around 3 times. Lol. Imagine how big the belt cross was on my lumber region. Thankyou
For me its 26yrs ago...was just white belt with Orangen Level ( i Practiced 1 year goju ryu karate).now am 44 and i'd like to start Again first with Aikido, cause goju ryu Style is not to find everywhere and don' wanna go to shotokan .i lost the Stills but the Budo spirit, my love for martial is still alive and always calling me back...or is this midle life crisis😳

Yes..at least in mine,you can not advance to yellow,unless you learn and demonstrate ALL Lessons, including tying your belt.
No not necessarily. However by blue belt you should know at least one way to tie your belt.
