    I also got lots of those wire racks. They are life changing. What I always say to my bf is that people that design houses don’t « live » there. My appartement is also weirdly designed, it’s not practical at all like you would have a light socket out of nowhere , and totally not where the table is /would be! And I also don’t understand how they design those shelves, do they not cook at all?

      I didn’t know this! I have trouble with sprouting potatoes too, either that or they turn green which my mum told me makes them poisonous to eat. Not sure if that’s right or not. Anyway, I’ll move them to the fridge as I think our pantry is too warm for them. Great video Kay. Everything looks so clean and tidy and I know what you mean about organising physical items is also good for mental clarity; I feel that way too.

    • @dorisw5558

      @@nataliedavies69 they turn green when they aren't stored in a dark place. And, yes, the green is poisonous. But do not store them in the fridge! That is too cold and will turn them soft and turn the starch into sugar. Cool and dark but not cold. As I said a basement is ideal (root cellar).

      Potatoes should be kept somewhere cool and dry, and definitely not in the fridge. They can increase the amount of sugar in them and lead to a higher concentration of a chemical called acrylamide when the potatoes are fried or baked/roasted at high temperatures. Onions, shallots etc are also best kept on a cool, dark, dry place. Once they've been cut and peeled they can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge

    • @leadvorsak
      @leadvorsak 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Livingthelifeyoulove I don't know, I'm still here, haha. They just get softer because they start using the stored energy to grow. If they are just a bit wrinkly they are still good cooked, like for mash or a potato salad. Or to be put into a soup.
      My parents grow their own potatoes since I can remember and this means we'd have the whole harvest in the cellar for months, towards the end they would inevitably start to sprout and we'd just continually go through them, snap the sprouts and use the slightly wrinkly ones first, but we never threw them away, unless they started rotting or be really wrinkly and squishy. And the very last ones would be left to grow really long sprouts and go back into the soil for the next round. So I'm pretty sure they aren't poisonous if they are just a bit sprouted and wrinkly, as long as they are still fairly firm. :) Definitely don't eat any with green parts though, that is poisonous.
