What is this sorcery? I'm totally mesmerized. This is what my mum needs she's getting too old for log fires

What moisture content % does the fuel need to be? How do you dry wood chips efficiently??

Wonder if this could be ran on a rough chopped straw? Flax or wheat is no tilled here. Enough stem is produced or to coarse to break down fast or feed through the no till drill each year. Most of the time flax straw is just windrowed then baled and or burned in the field. Flax produces seems that don’t deteriorate fast and is thorny that it can be tough on tires. Wheat is spread behind the combine then harrowed together.

Woodchip store looks like a wicked fire hazard.

@@leodedestructor Nah. Any properly constructed storage room/ container is going to have far too little airflow. Catastrophic incidents can lead to leaks of air, but that's true of oil and natural gas, too; and in those cases at least a pile of wood chips will burn itself out instead of a gas/ oil line that requires shut-off before it stops providing fuel.

You know what you guys need? Can I offer an idea?
Here is an idea: you could design a MICRO-STEAM-TURBINE around this system.
Heat from the ignition-area, creates steam and runs the steam-turbine. At the other end of the turbine, cold water cools off the steam, creating a suction, further increasing the efficiency of the steam-turbine. The cold water, now pre-heated, enters the GASIFIER's ignition-area, and produces more steam.
    > Cooled off steam (60-65 degrees), enter a hot-water storage tank. Any excess hot water enters a cooling-off tank, to preserve water.
    > The hot water can now be used for showers and heating the home!
    > The electricity is stored inside server-batteries and is used to run pumps and ignition system, for the entire home!
    A PERFECT ALL-IN-ONE SELF-SUFFICIENT SYSTEM.
If you get to make this, it will be amazing to see and to buy it. It is then an completely self-sufficient, low maintenance unit, that is efficient and produces house electricity and hot water, for the whole house on demand. Will probably cost no more than $30 000, including the batteries.
I believe this is what many households would want, after today's events. Have a good day!

My Lord, what does these things cost? Got to be around $100,000 if not more, and the maintenance cost on all those moving part will be sky high too. Also, where do they get the wood?

Hargassner isn't in my province, but smaller set ups (for use in agricultural or residential situations) of wood pellet machinery start around $20,000 Canadian in my area (Commercial and industrial units will obviously scale up). More expensive upfront, but the pellets are cheaper than gas so you've saved more than the difference in 5 years or so; well under the boiler's lifespan.
Wood chip burners are a bit more but getting the chips is cheaper and easier; providing your project is large enough to make the investment worthwhile since they don't scale down to residential output levels cost-effectively. Condo sites or apartment blocks maybe, but definitely not in-town or on-the-farm single-family units.

Hich tech solution that does the same thing as a DIY ricket mass heater.
This here complicated electrically drven machines would be useless if power were to go down. It would become a multi thousand $$$$$ paperweight.
On the other hand a DIY rocket mass heater would work perfectly in power down scenario.
