Yeah I realized there was something different about him and then I went to some old videos. Man what a difference, happy for him I know the dedication it takes.
Agree that you look great Andrew! At first i thought you got sick because you lost weight fast…glad to know you lost weight because of taking care of your health!
Two thumbs up for using the term "audio capture technology". Bandrew, I'm glad you are staying true to form and not reviewing other gadgets. Your reviews are ALWAYS consistent and I use them as a benchmark for comparison between models. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much Web. I realized that I focus on the audio input/audio capture side, not audio playback. There are people who are incredible at the playback side of things and they're the experts who should be consulted for that information.
Not only destructive… but if used in real time, rX plugins have a ton of latency. If the ghost hunters use good mics they wont have white noise to “find” ghosts talking in. Thanks for a pleasant evening watch. Back to editing for me!!
If ghost hunters used better audio they'd only be proving ghosts don't exist. They need hiss and artifacts so we can try and create audio voices - what's the audio version of pareidolia? Andrew, your humble honesty about your abilities and limits is exactly why I like your reviews most of all. Happy Holidays and I wish you the best for the New Year!
Ghost Hunters: "The ghosts drain the battery in our gear to try manifesting." Skeptic: "Okay, cool. Then...why don't you ever bring in half a dozen car batteries and give them what they apparently need?" 😉 Ghost Hunters: "'Cause...Uhm...Same reason we like hissy mics..."
I feel like I missed a few MOPs so pooh to the algorithm for not highlighting these better somehow. Looking forward to that 500,000 earthlings video! Very glad you did not go full time TH-camr as the ad-free and listener supported route is inspiring to me... and all I see down the full-timer road is stress. Cheers to having a hobby that can actually pay you back a little bit.
I’m the one who has missed a number of MOPFP’s. I just discovered this new members only early access option, and because I was late in finishing production, I thought I’d give it to y’all early. Thank you for all the support, you’re an absolute legend and I appreciate ya.
I'm glad Seb asked "How are you doing, Bandrew?" and you answered that completely. I come back to this channel once in a while for reviews and I noticed the weight loss, evident on your cheeks, I was thinking "I hope Bandrew's feelin' ok" Glad you're healthy and dining healthy man!
Your demonstrations of whispering at different distances was “phenomenal” 😎🤣 I don’t remember what video I watched that made me subscribe but if I had to guess it’s your commitment to sharing your honest and thorough thoughts about a specific question! You answered questions I didn’t realize I wanted to ask! ❤
This is an excellent (as usual) and very informative video. I was shocked how good you made your untreated room sound. The fact that you are not hyperbolic makes your content more authentic and convincing. Thank you!
In terms of what you do with your channel: do what you love. I’ve had plenty of channels I follow stick to their bread and butter, and I’ve had some totally pivot to something different. In either case, I usually stick with them, because they are a trusted voice. Whether you pivot, change, adapt, or stick with the same recipe, we are here for it!
I really appreciate over the years. You’re incredible, candid and comparative reviews especially when it comes to microphones and other audio equipment that relate to podcasting. Thing that I appreciate the most about what you’ve done is really going after maintaining your appearance. Over the last five or six videos that I’ve seen it’s very apparent that you went after losing some weight and you look amazing! Good for you, keep it up!
I'm very glad to hear that life is going amazingly for you :) I hope 2024 offers you much the same as well! The work that you do is always so thorough and impressive so that you should be proud of it too I'm doing well as well, just busy with academic deadlines and looking forward to the holidays next week! Take care :)
Thanks a lot for your work on this channel, I absolutely love to watch (and listen to) your videos! I was very impressed by your self noise demonstration of the two mics. It would be great, if you include these comparisons in your future mic testingd, especially when reviewing SDC mics
Thank you Bandrew for the years of integrity in your reviews and hard work. Really admire your commitment to neutrality and objectivity in your reviews!
You are the Gerald Undone of audio and Gerald is the Podcastage of video. I love your content! I've been following you for almost the beginning of your channel. Please keep doing what you are doing, it's really valuable for the community. Thanks!!
I'm so happy that you don't do midroll ads! I link your videos on a document designed to help new voice actors hear great affordable microphones and the ads would make it really annoying. You're a great person!
Glad you appreciate it. Lots of money left on the table, and maybe TH-cam hates me for not giving them another ad spot, but oh well. Thanks for watching and sharing, I really appreciate it.
Love your videos, a few of my audio purchases were based on them, and I wasn’t disappointed. Keep up the good work. Congrats on the health lifestyle change.
I bought all of my audio gear thanks to your reviews and this code of conduct & ethics you talk about. Thank you very much for everything you do. I have a Behringer xm8500, shure sm58 and just recently I got a Samson Go Mic. I love them all 😂
Audio gear vids are for a niche market of viewers who are more respectful, better behaved and generally more focused than a viewer of say, Mr Beast of some other hyperbolic click thirsty channel that can't sustain the demands and people burn out. I've watched this channel for quite a few years and enjoy the content and the fact that the comment section isn't toxic or a battle ground. Keep up the good work!
Great video - thanks! My fingers are crossed that you reach 500K subscribers in my lifetime, as I want to see/hear you speak the name of each mic. 😄 I'm glad that you are feeling well as you approach your birthday. In the meantime, I hope you are having a great lead-up to the year-end holidays.
Regarding de-noising. Audacity has a great free de-noise plugin. But you can't use it on live audio. It has to be processed. I've used it to several times to save recordings from significant ground hum and noise floor.
What software do you recommend for processing audio for an untreated room but in real-time (for example with Discord calls)? Similar to the question from this vid, but something that isn’t “post”-processing but “in the moment”-processing?
I have strong gear hoarding tendencies, but thanks to your reviews I have bought my one and only microphone and I am totally content with the situation 🙂😁
Great show. I recently upgraded to YT premium where I'm not being shown ads, so related question: do you make more money/user from premium users or from users who see ads and bonus question: how do ad blockers affect your revenue?
You should still always watch my reviews and everyone's reviews with a skeptical eye. Don't just trust any of us. That's why I include all the sound samples, I want people to hear for themselves if they like it, dislike it, think it's worth it or think it's a waste of money. Thank you for the truly kind words Yifu.
If I was a singer, I would have loved to visit a place like your studio, where I was actually able to test and get advice on which MIC would better fit my voice!
I would love to see a review of measurement microphones, just to have an idea of how they stack up against "normal" microphones. For example G.R.A.S. 40AG, or the 1/4" version for example B&K 4938.
@Podcastage Just a minor correction: Spectral Denoise is not the same as Voice Denoise. Spectral denoise can handle more types of noise than Voice Denoise. You should try both and see what works best for you.
Okay slight question (for anyone really). What is the device called that auto levels (live, not recorded audio) your mic volume. I think it's called a compressor (something that will adjust your screaming volume to be normal levels, but boost your low-talking levels)? I was looking to find something of that nature as the few equipments I've seen just auto-mutes it (like the quadcast, or my personal mixer just mutes as well). I've messed around with a bunch of free plug-ins over some months, but not really working how I want them to. Thanks for the video! Cool to see you touch on something like ghost hunting mics haha.
Heya Bandrew! How about reviewing the Steelseries Alias (USB only) and Alias Pro (XLR only) mics? These just freshly came out from shelves. Keep up the good work and all the best!
Yeah, please stick to mic reviews and the sorts. Just as you have been doing. About selfnoise: I engineered a lot of audio books, and if the room is good, then low selfnoise is great. Especially since a lot of listeners use headphones that reveals it more. You can get rid of a lot of noise, in post, by using a good gate, Fabfilter’s Pro-G is awesome, and/or with gentle use of de-noisers, but if there is no noise in the recording, you save time and get a better result. I went from a Neumann M147 to a TLM193, and never looked back!!
How do you feel about all the audio software that tries to expand on the original OS features? Like Equalizer APO, Steelseries Sonar, Voicemeeter, Pulse Audio Effects. Did you find anythingsthat works as intended? I had always audio crackling with Voicemeeter, microphones that suddenly are not working with ingame Voice Chat with Equalizer APO, delayed audio that has timing issues skipping sometimes a few seconds with Pulse Audio Effects. Didn't test the Steelseries app yet...
Hay Bandrew, I hope you're well and merry Christmas 🎅 I have a question. Just got my first Rode nt1 it sounds great, but has intense handling noise is that normal, thanks.
I've learned so much from this channel Bandrew, thank you -- question, 4 wireless headphone with low latency for podcast hosts, I've used Rode Wireless Go's as a jimmy-rigged solution, any advice on a system I can upgrade to?
I frequently practice speaking on a language learning app in a room where I have unexpected children and other background noise. How do I configure my mic to only pick up my voice which is through a Sure SM58 on a pc? I have no issues when I do it to an empty house with no surprise interruptions 🤔
I don't think I would totally hate you being more hyperbolic or having mid rolls, we're so used to it at this point. if you made all these comparisons easy to access on a website or something of the sort it'd be fine.
7:49 I assume getting enough revenue off of fans from things like Patreon, youtube memberships, donations, etc. isn’t sustainable at this current time? Either way, I think you put your argument quite eloquently
..i bought rode 2 podmics about 3 years ago..were the first "proper mics" i had.. but later bought Marantz..love the sound, and just wish they come more in high end mics market, to compete with smb7b.. have special place their amps and pre-amps products....if was now, Lewitt i would by, i think..
I find that being able to reference these mics and compare them to new iterations is incredibly beneficial and useful. That’s why I still have them. I would love to get rid of all of them but a handful because it takes up my living space, but I want to make my videos as useful as possible and that means including the mic comparisons. Giveaways would not be a money generator for me at all because giving stuff away and paying to ship it would be a drain on income. I wouldn’t charge people for an entry because I don’t like the idea of running a pay to play lottery. I also don’t think developing an audience that is there solely for giveaways is conducive to a sustainable youtube channel. Thank you very much for the suggestion though, I appreciate it.
Ha. Regarding Ghost Hunting mics: It doesn't matter. There's no such thing as the supernatural. That aside, for the LARP drama of it all, if these individuals (AKA grifters and/or m*rons) used good equipment properly, it would ruin their show, which, of course, highlights the terms used in the parenthetical.
I still can’t get over how much of a glow up bandrew went through this past year or so. Looking very good my man
Went from Bandrew to DAMN!drew
Yeah I realized there was something different about him and then I went to some old videos. Man what a difference, happy for him I know the dedication it takes.
Agree that you look great Andrew! At first i thought you got sick because you lost weight fast…glad to know you lost weight because of taking care of your health!
the lighting change has accentuated flesh tones very admirably for the podcastager...I may have committed a grammatical no-no...wowser
I've thought this too. He's looking great
for ethics and focus!
Ghost Bandrew was the Bandrew we never knew we needed till we got him.
The ghost test is fantastic. If you ever put up shorts or clips that segment would be so good.
I loved this format of video. Very informative and this info will help viewers!
Thanks for no mid roll ads, Bandrew. You are super awesome and I love you too!

I respect you trying to keep the integrity of your channel and reviews. You described how ads and TH-cam works perfectly and I agree with your view.
Thank you very much for the kind words and for watching.
This has been my favorite gear channel for years and every video makes me more confident in my taste.
I really enjoy your content, keep up the great work

I think that's exactly right. Thank you so much for the kind words and the support Lyvvie, I really do appreciate ya.
Yes its all bs with those ghost detectors
Ghost Hunters: "The ghosts drain the battery in our gear to try manifesting."
Skeptic: "Okay, cool. Then...why don't you ever bring in half a dozen car batteries and give them what they apparently need?" 😉
Ghost Hunters: "'Cause...Uhm...Same reason we like hissy mics..."

For recording in removing reverb & noise, I HIGHLY recommend Supertone Clear. It sounds way better than the RX plugins.
If there's one bit of feedback I can say about RX. Use Gentle not surgical. It's less artifacting and doesn't negatively affect the sound as much.

I just recently found your channel, and it's an absolute goldmine. Thank you for everything you've done and continue to do!
You're my go to audio reviewer, Straight to the point and very knowledgeable !
Oh and i stay for the box YEETS! lmao

11:56 that’s what we’ve been waiting for now we just have to like and share with everyone we know
I love your videos learned so much from them and your personal story was very touching, relatable and inspiring. Thank you and be good.
Wow, you are the rare breed. Amazing. Hats off.
Not the hero we deserve but the hero we needed.
Your niche appeals to me so kudos!
"I'm 10 feet away because I'm a ghost" the subtlety in your comedy is next level
I’m liking this video because I’m a ghost.
You're a g-g-g-ghost!?
Paranormal investigators should definitely be using omni polar patterns.
Yeah that's a good point that they should use omni mics.

2:51 I see you have Eraserhead in your movie collection. Bravo sir. Bravo.
And of course the best Christmas movie ever.... Die Hard!
Eraserhead didn't click for me as a kid, but within the last 10 years it hit super hard. It's a great one.
Air con? Have you been Canadian this whole time?!
I would love to see a review of measurement microphones, just to have an idea of how they stack up against "normal" microphones. For example G.R.A.S. 40AG, or the 1/4" version for example B&K 4938.

any planning to check out akg p820
we need to get this man to 500k subs asap
I appreciate the push! We may get there in quite a few years and this commitment will bite me in the rear.
I frequently practice speaking on a language learning app in a room where I have unexpected children and other background noise. How do I configure my mic to only pick up my voice which is through a Sure SM58 on a pc?
I have no issues when I do it to an empty house with no surprise interruptions 🤔
Where did you get your catchphrases like "Greetings Earthlings?" And is "Diddly-did" from Ned Flanders?
You should do a Top5 favourite mics :) Love from sweden :)
Let's get him to 500k, we need to make him suffer.
I like the q n A😂😅
Don't review other gears, the boxes are huge, Imagine review a 65" TV.
Took me a minute 😂
Heh heh
500K Subs now!
I don't think I would totally hate you being more hyperbolic or having mid rolls, we're so used to it at this point. if you made all these comparisons easy to access on a website or something of the sort it'd be fine.
I’m a simple man. I see a podcastage video I click
It just wouldn't be the same if you told us to check the shadow legends link in the duubuli duu 🤣
You cut it before playing the fixed reverb. Also, would have enjoyed that part being a little more in depth with steps.
😊
Good bye 2023 gift.
Bring back Ghostdrew on Halloween
#1 was enough for me 💪😉👍 sub, like….share ✅
the rest of the q&a very well done.
but you’ve seriously learned from Babe Ruth ⚾️ home run 👏
Bandrew, do you really love me?? 💜
Get him to 500k subs
Thank you!
Thumbnail is flipped, look at the keyboard! 😂

Pretty much hate requests to subscribe but have never hit subscribe so quick - I want to see and hear every mic pretty bad.
Here's an income generator for you. Do mic and gear giveaways. You don't need all those mics. Share the love. Make some money. Win win.
@@Podcastage Thank you for the thorough reply. I do enjoy your channel.
