Dealing with a manager that is not paying attention to safety can be both difficult and intimidating. This is a method I have found useful lots and has worked for me.

thats a good one, you shoulnt be allowed to be a foreman if you have had a number of worker injuries or deaths under your supervision, yet they are allowed. Same for safety infractions and write ups. A lot of work sites dont even have a appointed health and safety rep who is not the manager but a employee.

Always good to read your view on things Bryn! It is important for work sites to have a H&S rep selected from the workers, in fact it's law. Too bad companies have to be reminded of the legislation! I also think there would be benefit to having some sort of vetting process as far as a safety record goes for managers and supervisors.

Can I report unonimously to OHS the unsafe production speed of meat production plants that I worked in Canada? These speed wears down employees both physical and mental stress are unreported because they are not addressed due to being afraid of loosing job of employees. Companies should be often visited by Government like OHS. And even when visitors visits production the speed line slows down and speeds back up when they are gone. Thanks
