Hey mate. Awesome video bro. Nicely explained. I also have a u87ai and the one thing I was tripping over was the fact that the u87 has very little low end….or some may call this “controlled low end”. It’s not as pronounced as the other mics, and for the past 2 weeks I was tripping heavy thinking my u87 was damaged or something 🤣🤣🤣
Just wondering why you think the black would decrease resale value? Reason why I think it won't is - there have been so many knockoffs of the champagne/silver. But not the black so it might be more sought after in the long run I'm guessing. Who really knows. Wondering what your raw thoughts were on that subj?
Microphone is great, but with those electrical sounding zoom preamps youre definitely turning the sound into a entry level mic. You should never put car fuel in a jet engine! If you want next level audio the secret is an analogue preamp, like an Avalon, and any audio interface that has line inputs. No matter what i hope you enjoy this god send of a microphone😍💦
Not sure what all these other comments are saying poo poo-ing the other mics here. All sounded amazing/great. If anything, the u87ai kills with a good pre like a Neve or API. Then, for some reasons, the differences get a lot bigger. But tbh you'd like the sm7 with a Neve as well. Don't sell the other mics. Everyone needs a sm7b. The better I get at audio, the more I value that mic.

Hey man I need your help so bad, I also just upgraded from an at2020 to a u87 and a focusrite scarlet to a apogee symphony desktop and It’s giving me so much headache, is there any way I can fix the latency on my daw ? Also my recordings feel off and just foggy or too loud, maybe I’m just not doing something write, plz help! Thanks
I’m using the driver for the symphony but yes and I use fl studio, but it seems no matter what I do, whether I fix my input and my output level, switching from pre amp 66 to the other ones, my recordings just don’t sound clear, it’s to the point where my focusrite takes sound better so it’s probably me doing something wrong, plz help

I primarily use it on my apogee symphony desktop audio interface and I think it sounds great on that

Are you using asio audio drivers? You should be able to use below 100 buffer easily. Not sure about the 2nd part with little info

And you probably end up selling this one too. After you realize it wasn’t that good of an investment.
Sell the bluebird and the sm7b, both sound terrible compared to that new mic
