      The never give up attitude. Never a loser when he was broke and not a winner when he prospered. The whole story about the challenges, credit card dating girl story, pressing on, and about providing lunch for the staff. Good idea with the lunch thing. Hopefully it pays office.

    Love it!! I made a lot of mistakes - although not 100K in credit card debt, i had some in the 90's. Don't max ur credit cards - but always dream BIG and have the methods to achieve your goals! My quote: “DREAM BIG! Always shoot for a different solar system and if you land on Saturn that’s okay!” Meaning, set big goals so that no matter where you land, even if a little short, it’s OK, it still could be beyond your wildest dreams!

    Wow this guy really relates to me. Did a science degree and masters here in the UK. Becoming a doctor is very hard especially trying to get into the degree for it plus seeing how doctors are in hospitals made me think what type of job they have. Was looking at scientist jobs but very little opportunity to train as one compared to opportunity for qualified ones.
    Started looking at mortgage advising, started doing the course for that managed to get a admin position in a brokerage. Hopefully will start getting training as a mortgage advisor then in a few years hopefully look to open my own brokerage

    I'm definitely more conservative. Never going to allow myself to go into that kind of debt. Pay credit cards off monthly. The stress of almost going bankrupt twice? Yikes. Good for him for turning things around and now excelling at what he does but not sure that he will be my role model to success. :)

    • @WhiteBoardFinance
      @WhiteBoardFinance  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for watching and commenting Jennifer! I agree, that's a lot of stress

    • @absoluttchamp
      @absoluttchamp 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with you. I come from the trader community and we speak of Winrate over a sample size and Risk:Reward. Even if this guy had great success of pushing the debt limits, take note that on a bigger sample size where other people are doing the same, the outcome of this approach won`t necessarily be the same. Always control your risk, stay in the game because I will tell you...in finance time will still beat everything. This is based on the very fact that we become more and more people on this planet which we can draw two conclusions from; 1. We need more and more housing. 2. Consumption will go in cycles but over time will always grow.
      The inspiration from his story should be the grit and commitment.

    • @mixedproduct
      @mixedproduct 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I completely agree. I love his energy and his story but that type of stress isn’t beneficial to your physical health or overall quality of life. It is important to take risks in business but never bet more than you can afford to lose.

    To be more specific - so it isn't read wrong I had some credit card debt in the 1990's - to the tune of about 22K. I also check my credit cards weekly for little things that come up. I pay them off instantly. Also, make sure you have the best cc's for you. And only have a few. My Capital One card gives cash back and in a dire emergency my AE Platinum card could be used for something big. OK, I am done with my rant - but I want no one to make the mistakes that I have made!

    • @WhiteBoardFinance
      @WhiteBoardFinance  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Agreed. I use my credit cards like cash. The only reason I have them is for the points which help me get cash back or airline miles. Credit cards can easily become "financial cigarettes" if you don't use them responsibly!
