I just left Cape Town yesterday. Yes, it's beautiful, but it is a tale of two cities and the legacy of apartheid and the treatment of black South Africans, their living conditions and their constraints on access to wealth, entrepreneurship in their own land, etc is so obvious. So yes, the beauty is captivating, but the divide left a sour taste in my mouth. Go visit the place for yourself. You'll see what I mean. It's gorgeous but don't stick your head in the sand either.

Afrinaturality I don't think South Africa (the country I live in and was born in) is the only country that has a divide between the poor and the Ritchie. The views of South Africa are not the only reason people come to South Africa, one of the main reasons I love my country is because we are a nation that might not be a first world country but not matter were you are in the country there is always someone who is smiling or waving at YOU.

I'm certainly not suggesting that South Africa is the only country with a divide between rich and poor. That pretty much exists in all countries. I am talking specifically about the legacy of apartheid being apparent in Cape Town. There's no denying it. Nevertheless, the South Africans I spoke to in Cape Town were friendly, warm and welcoming.
Afrinaturality there are lots of wealthy blacks/coloured people here who still chose to live in the townships in modest housing despite that they're able to afford other accommodation so it's not fair to say that they are poor or that there is a huge divide. There are poor people of all colors in South Africa. Also many people from North Africa here looking for work so it's unfair to assume all are poor locals. .
