The real question is how does someone play one pokemon for thousands of games and suck at it? Like playing what you like is fine and all but how does one learn absolutely nothing in that time? How is that even possible?
They probably just play a fuck ton of quick matches and solo challenges and don't do anything until that ribbon is theirs. And then the very second they pull up to ranked, they make the actually good players, even the ones that don't have gold ribbons, look like dogshit. Why? Because all they know how to play is these bot matches in quick battles and when it's time to adapt to ranked they(and whoever else is unfortunately placed with them) fall from grace.
Often it's not the Pokemon they're bad at, it's the game. They immediately call centre without considering their team, then run to one lane and stay there for the rest of the game. They think that if they just pick the same character every time, they'll become really good with it and always win fights, because they don't understand that it's a team game.

I can at the very least respect their skill as a charizard but 9/10 they farm the entire game until the team fight comes to them and they always prioritie regieleki. Like I’ll never understand how one tricks play the exact same WAY each game and never get bored.
My main is sylveon. And I barely even get blue ribbon with it. The thing with me is, I rarely play the same pokemon in a row. Different match, always a different pokemon. And also, I try to grind every pokemon achievement.

Yeah, I think its based on the type of the person. Myself for example, I used to really love this one drink. I rarely drink it, because its not common in my hometown. But when I went aboard, there are plenty of this drink sold in every store. I still like the drink, but now everytime I drink it its not as special as it used to be. My friend in other hand, he can eat only spaghetti for months and still love it.

They should use MMR system that reset every season like other MOBA and can only be gained in rank. You win, you gain MMR, if you lose you also lose MMR. Those with many match but negative win rate won't have badge with this, same with those who only spam quick match
I was once kicked out of a guild for PROVING that a friend of the guild leader was a terrible Talonflame, when I challenged him. I play primarily as a defender, and that day I recorded 5 consecutive matches where I scored an average of 12 kills per match and around 80~83k dmg in all of them. While this individual's average stats was 4~5 kills and less that 40K dmg per match. Mind you, junglying is my worst style. The "kid" got so uncomfortable that he started sobbing and threatened to leave the guild. But in the end I was the one who got kicked out for being "mean".🤷🏻♂️
For an entire year, I only played my main at that time that was Lucario, and only with its e-speed/bone rush move set since I didn't like pup/close combat. It wasn't until the next year that I started using more Pokémon and now I consider myself to be useful in multiples roles depending on the needs of the team
some people have favorites and are just really dedicated, doesn’t matter if it’s not meta or anything, it’s why i always came back to tsareena even when she was the “worst” pokémon. I know how to play other mons, but still i prefer to try and perfect my tsareena as much as i can

i can definitely see someone playing flamethrower ho oh for thousands of games, holding a fire extinguisher as a move is definitely a very fun move to mimic in real life not lucario or espeon tho, those 2 i shook my head
I've run into two players that are similar. One goes by VictoriaR and they have over 12,000 games on Lucario and the other player has 11,000+ games on Greedent but I don't remember their name.
I mained Meowscarada for a couple of months and I still played with many other 'Mons and I barely have a blue ribbon on the Weed Cat, I was not even aiming at getting ribbons at all, not even in my main, I did it on accident 💀
I just pick a mon I actually like eevee was my favorite from the jump i played mostly glaceon and some sylveon and racked up tons of games tho i have tried other mons

Because I think I can play hoopa for any number of matches if I cam playing with my friends because you have a lot of things to do with hoopa and you can't feel bored to play hoopa imo 😊?

Gold badge system was a mistake, if it was based on results on that specific pkmn it would be impressive in a better way.
