Turtle Dumpa I have Copic markers and I’ll have to say. Copic has more colors and are personally in my opinion, better looking because you can shade and blend better. Which is basically why you would buy markers. Ohuhu markers are warm but they don’t shade as well as you can with Copic
Update: For Ohulu, the largest set is now (July 2022) 216 markers. Includes Greyscale, Skin tones & Pastels. Comes with 1 blender. Now with brush tips as well! Also, Brush tips are reversible so you get double the life of the nib. Also, to refill, just purchase either the Copic or Touch refills as your markers dry. Same with the tips. That way, you get cheap, but GREAT markers in Ohuhu, and then can slowly refill markers, as needed to make the financial pinch spread over a longer period. I don't love it when people say 'I would recommend Ohuhu for beginners because of XYZ.' I am a professional graphic designer - I elect Ohuhu EVERYTIME. No question. I make more profit by charging the same for my artworks, with way cheaper art material (markers). Also, once an Ohulu pen runs dry, and I reink it with copic ink, the client then has the benefit of the more 'expensive' ink used on their commission (although, they would never, ever notice either way). Also, I am quite confident the Ohulu will bring out refill eventually as they are dominating the market. I see also that Copic is starting to copy some of the Ohulu marketing strategies - Copics are the industry standard, but they clearly feel threatened by the much, MUCH cheaper Ohulu markers.
Thank you for the update! I have a question about replacing the ink. Is there a list to show which ohulu color ink matches the Copic color ink replacement? I hope my question makes since lol thank you again!

I know nobody will probably be reading this at this point, but I just wanted to summarise my opinion on the differences. While Copic markers in this specific video are duller, the brand does offer brighter, more vivid colors. Ohuhu (from what I’ve seen and heard, I don’t own them yet) doesn’t have many pastel or duller colors. Of course, price is definitely a point to consider, but as Rin said, Copic does have refills and a wider variety of colors.
I own ohuhu markers and it came with a little leaflet with what kind of makers u have and that stuff and it also says if ur marker dries out during shipping u can order one for free
Felix is Bored now Ohuhu have their pastel range, and they don’t do refills, but they have a reversible brush nib. Yes Copics are higher quality, but considering the price not many people can afford it :)
@@xxlily01-xx right. I made this comment before they were released. The price is definitely something to consider, and I personally think that Ohuhu is a beautiful brand and the closest thing you can get to the professional copic brand.

Twitxch Lina I agree with her that copics didn’t create alcohol based markers and other brands aren’t copying copics Yeah I didn’t comment it but that’s what I’ve been thinking and commenting on other videos yeah I know now that’s not clear cause I didn’t say that in this comment 🤪
As a self taught artist I always follow the motto that a artist can use any tool, doesnt matter if its Copic or Ohuhu or sharpie or Crayola. Its the artist that makes the art.
Which is true, but sometimes the confidence of new, cooler, better tools can make you feel like your art is better! Or give you the boost to make some art in a new style or out Of your comfort zone! Either way, keep making art guys :)
The racial representation on this channel is EVERYTHING. I love that you use darker skin tones and textured hair as often as you do. It’s really an inspiration. A lot of times, people shy away from drawing POC because of how the skin comes out. However, this really encourages me to try out some darker skin tones
SpiderRealm I’ve always had a hard time trying to draw textured hair like mine, and I’m always worried that darker skin will come out patchy/streaky or dull looking.
Okay, yes the copic markers look more realistic but it actually depends on the way you draw and colour. So overall both can look realistic and cartoony just its the way you use them when colouring.
@@datfatrat7135 That’s why ohuhu is on my wishlist for Christmas this year. Cuz I already have the 12-marker copic skintone set, and if I wish for ohuhu, my parents will probably don’t kill me for wishing for those “expensive things”.
i feel like if you like to color with cooler colors, the copics are better, but if you like brighter, more saturated colors, the ohuhu markers are better(also ohuhu is coming out with brush nibs next year so it’s good)
I actually got the ohuhu brush markers last week, and I love them! If I didn’t know about your channel, then I would literally have no idea what ‘ohuhu markers’ are. And literally the price difference between these 2 markers is HUGE!! Love your vids, waffles! 🤩
They're kind off expensive! Just not for this particular type of marker :) Kind of like how a car can be really expensive but the cheapest option for competative racing!
I actually persuaded my mum and dad, before I wanted copics but now I jut said that they are way cheaper then copics and that in a few years when I get a job I'll pay them back so they can remember when they brought me ohuhu markers. I'm excited
Ikr. I just use my school pen and mec penXD the paper i mostly draw on are the already used pages but not important ones on a reminder's notebook bcuz i dont want to waste anything
I think that no matter what products you use for your drawings (either cheap ones or expensive ones), if you’re talented you’re going to do an excellent job at the end.
i bought my ohuhus a few years back, absolutely love them they are bit patchy at times but that’s fine, i finally got copics too (only 6) and they’re pretty great too, if you’re a young artist starting out/don’t have a lot of money i think ohuhu is a good starter alcohol marker set.
Not even just as a begginer set, a professional artist could totally use them. I have ohuhus, and I’ve got two copics, and they work pretty much the same. The ink quality is practically identical, the only thing is the ohuhu brush nibs are a bit weaker at the tip, so it’s harder to get in to little tiny details, but for a tenth of the price of copics, you can’t go wrong
I use the Ohuhu 80 pack of markers and the 6 pack of copic marker sketch skin tones. I think this was the best option for me because I love art and using alcohol based markers ( Which Waffles introduced me to), but I am not the best and I usually don't color my art. So my opinion ( Not that it really matters), depends on your artistic level, and if you will use these every week or every few days. I personally like using the brush nib a lot, but for price and for quantity, I choose Ohuhu. Whoever read this thanks for reading and have an amazing day/night!
This was super helpful in deciding which to get our oldest daughter, who is a blossoming artist, for her upcoming birthday! We'll be getting her the Ohuhu to see if this is a medium she enjoys, and if so, we will splurge on the Copic markers over time. Thank you so much!
Another brand of marker you could look into that isn't as expensive as copics is Chameleons. Personal opinion but I felt like sharing! ^_^ loved the video
God, Chameleon markers suck, they are a mess and a gimmick. They are weirdly shaped, with a complicated blend system for mediocre blend. Look into spectrum noir, they have relatively similar blend qualities, and their cheaper. They also have better shape and are more comfortable to hold. Also they don't have the STUPID, blend system. Also chameleon markers cant have a brush tip cause the ink transfer thing could mess the bristles up.
chameleon markers are a scam. the videos make it look like they immediately blend and fade into the right exact colors, it’s nearly impossible to get the look you want with them
Here is something I do with markers that do not have brush nibs and I am having a hard time blending my colors. Tools you will need: 1. A plastic lid , I use a old ice cream lid. 2. A watercolor paint brush, size is up to you. I normally use a small brush. 3. The markers 4. A little bit of rubbing alcohol Steps: 1. Take the color you are trying to blend in and scribble it onto the lid. 2. Dip the paint brush in the rubbing alcohol like you would with water. You only want a little, so if the brush is very damp brush off the excess on a paper towel or something. The reason why is because if you use to much rubbing alcohol it will act like a colorless blender, and you could risk lifting the color and not blending it. 3. Use the marker ink like paint. 4. basically blend the same way you would with a brush tip. This trick doesn't work with all colors, i find it works best with light to mid-tones! This is also a way to get very light colors when you have a very limited color selection, just water down the ink a little with the rubbing alcohol. I also use this trick to add a watercolor effect to my marker art uvu
I have them. I got them for Christmas. They actually come I a different container it's a pretty mint blue color with flamingos on it. Btw it's a paper/cardboard material and the caps fit on the bottoms
Like the previous person said, the brush markers they have now aren't the same kind, they're water based not alcohol based. It's like comparing crayons to oil pastels. They behave very differently.
Yup, Ohuhu is for me. I don’t color like most marker artists. I color very concentrated, with a sharp cell shade look. My friends and clients prefer this look over the brusherly strokes, so I think Ohuhu is a good way for me to save and still achieve the same look I currently have with my prisma color markers.
Thank you for doing this video! I think i'm going to get the copic markers only because they come with refills and i'm trying to live a more sustainable life so I'm really excited about that part. To me the cost is worth it to be able to refill. Also your artwork is amazing!
In my pack of Ohuhu markers there's a slip of paper that says when a marker dries out or one comes dried out that they would replace it! Also love the drawings!
I just bought my copic markers yesterday and their coming tomorrow! I have been wanting to use copic markers for a long time now and now I’m getting them!
I think I have nine Copic markers. I have a 48 set of Ohuhu markers, along with a 24 set of Ohuhu skintones. I believe that they both look amazing when doing the same drawing. I also believe that they are both wonderful. When I get a bit more serious about my art, I will have to decide which ones to invest my money in. This video is really doing me a favor in testing them both out!
Just wanted to say: i think this was an awesome review and i LOVE Rin’s art! Personally I like Master’s Touch for alcohol markers. They come in brush nib and bullet nib (both with chisel on the other side btw) and and very affoardable. The only downside is they do not sell refils (like ohuhu) but have a pretty nice color laydown (my opinion). Just wanted to add this for those who are looking for even more of a happy medium :)
@@drawingwiffwaffles me too. Besides, there are saturated colours in the copic collection to if people want to choose them. I just like that there's more variety and subtlety in the Copic selection.
Somehow you've managed to make her face wider on the 2nd copic drawing which is kinda cool, I think it has something to do with the shading. But it kinda gives her this older effect. Compared to the ohuhu marker where her skin is light and her face is slimmer she looks younger. It gave off this "age thought time" vibe idk. It's was cool I liked it.
I think Copic provinding refills intead of making you buy a new complete set is brilliant! I like things that try to be slightly more eco-friendly that doesn't create as much waste. Especially when it hardly takes any effort from what you usually do.
Just so you know, muddiness comes from colours not being saturated enough so if that's how it reads to you what you probably prefer is the very saturated colours that Ohuhu has. Copic sells such saturated colours too so you could get the same look with Copics if you chose to work with their saturated colours. Rin (and I) prefer not to use only the most saturated ones, though. People who have been drawing for a long time tend to steer clear of the most saturated colours. So, the "muddiness" is most likely due to the colour choice rather than the brand. I just thought I should point this out so that if you're thinking of buying some, you're doing it with the full information. :)

I use ohuhu but my blending hurts my paper wheeze what i meant is that it bleeds when you try to blend blues of many shades in your ocs hair(my picture)
i think theyre both amazing markers, all it really comes down to is the persons preference or style. AND ITS CHEAP. copics are great n all but for such a good marker like ohuhu for like 45 ceNTS EACH HOW COULD YOU NOT!

Nice comparison! Makes me like my decision to go with Ohuhu even more. For anyone viewing now... Ohuhu has *320* colors in their largest bundle pack, and does have refills but only 51 colors at present. Also has Brush, Chisel, *and* Fine tip combinations in their bundles now. I just got their 48 count Honolulu B and 36 count Skin Tones, both Brush/Fine combo. I shudder to think what 84 new Copics would cost. :O I'd recommend giving Ohuhu a try. Get their smallest bundle if you're cautious or unsure. ( *Use the creator's affiliate links for them, they deserve it.* )
Friends Forever when the markers run out of ink youll have to buy a whole new set of ohuhu markers, they dont sell markers individually. As someone who has previously used ohuhu, i found myself very frustrated with the lack of ink in the skin tones. Copic markers are definitely worth investing in
Thanks for comparing the two! I had trouble deciding which ones to get but this is exactly what I was looking for video wise. Definitely gonna pick up the Ohuhu cause I'm looking for these bright illustrations. Thanks again & great channel :3
Hello! I enjoy watching your videos a lot! As a kid, I loved drawing, but since “ you don’t get paid for drawing “ , the older I got, the more I concentrated on my other interests and now I just draw whenever I’m in the mood and have fun with it. But as you can guess it’s not that artistic 😅 I do try to improve though! Watching you , I get inspired, motivated to make more time for drawing. I have some pretty important deadlines coming up but after that, I wanna start my very first sketchbook, thanks to you I feel confident to start drawing to have fun with it, and I’ll try my best not to give up on my art and let it improve through time and practice. So, Thank you so so so much♥️ Have a life full of Waffles 😋😍

Diamonds Studio Ikr! Crayons isn’t a knock off of Copic, it’s still a original marker!
A Small Bowl Of Rice that’s what I’m saying THANK YOU!!!
Twitxch Lina I agree with her that copics didn’t create alcohol based markers and other brands aren’t copying copics
Yeah I didn’t comment it but that’s what I’ve been thinking and commenting on other videos yeah I know now that’s not clear cause I didn’t say that in this comment 🤪
FlowerCrown crayons? You mean Crayola? Also I don’t think those are alcohol based markers....
Madylin Gilbert about to say this then I saw your comment lol
As a self taught artist I always follow the motto that a artist can use any tool, doesnt matter if its Copic or Ohuhu or sharpie or Crayola. Its the artist that makes the art.
@Icytugboat there is a red sharpie but nonetheless i dont get the connection
Which is true, but sometimes the confidence of new, cooler, better tools can make you feel like your art is better! Or give you the boost to make some art in a new style or out Of your comfort zone! Either way, keep making art guys :)
Ohuh is better for anime drawings copic is good for realistic drawing
Then I'll take ohuhu, thanks
What's Ohuh?
Sorry, xD

Then I made the right choice, since my artstyle is kinda like anime in a way
Good thing I asked my mom to get me some Ohuhu

The racial representation on this channel is EVERYTHING. I love that you use darker skin tones and textured hair as often as you do. It’s really an inspiration. A lot of times, people shy away from drawing POC because of how the skin comes out. However, this really encourages me to try out some darker skin tones
Ikr! Watching her videos, I'm really learning a lot on how to color in POC characters!
I know this might sound dumb, but what is POC ?
@@kittypawesomevlogs7552 People Of Color.

Okay, yes the copic markers look more realistic but it actually depends on the way you draw and colour. So overall both can look realistic and cartoony just its the way you use them when colouring.
Yep
you could get a copic skin set and have the rest ohuhu

@Kazi Kauser EXACTLY!! 🫠🥲😂😭💗

I actually got the ohuhu brush markers last week, and I love them! If I didn’t know about your channel, then I would literally have no idea what ‘ohuhu markers’ are.
And literally the price difference between these 2 markers is HUGE!!
Love your vids, waffles! 🤩
Funny how i considered ohuhu "expensive markers"
😭I am still persuading my mom to get me markers so I can start experimenting with markers
I'm excited
I have like 72 of them 24 the skin tone set it cost me $60 USD
Bruh the set I have of ohuhu is expensive is was 65 dollars
Honestly the ohuhu isn't bad! Worth the money, and the Copic is worth the money too!
That’s very true!
Wait so are copic pens that expensive cause I bought some of 12 pounds
@LOU Galaxy AG yeah
@LOU Galaxy AG I looked at them 67 times (or more)
@LOU Galaxy AG I think they're cheaper in the UK than the US, I looked at some and they were only like £1 or so per marker?
When you can't afford anything but you just wanna be an artist so you just sadly watch videos hoping that one day you'll have money
if you got paper of any kind and pencils, you can be an artist ^^ just try!
Ikr. I just use my school pen and mec penXD the paper i mostly draw on are the already used pages but not important ones on a reminder's notebook bcuz i dont want to waste anything
VexB that’s me right there
Who says you need expensive things to be an artist? As long as you have something to draw with, you can be one!
same i just yse my moms old stuff but before quarintine i actually bought stuff but not expensive art supplies
I think that no matter what products you use for your drawings (either cheap ones or expensive ones), if you’re talented you’re going to do an excellent job at the end.
And whatever art you produce is unique to you whether its ugly or beautiful
Actually it’s skill instead of talent. Since you’re born with talent.
I’d probably pay an arm and a leg for copics, I’d just probably not use them a lot so..
I'd be too scared to use them up
Colourful Ally I’d go Alphonse Elric and give up my body for copics and I’d give them to my friend
Colourful Ally yea... last night I went on amazon looking and for a 36 pack it was more than 50 dollars which is too much in my opinion
You can use touch 5( lighter) or ohuho
Colourful Ally a six pact of skin tone copic sketch is like 55 dollars i got mine for christmas
i bought my ohuhus a few years back, absolutely love them they are bit patchy at times but that’s fine, i finally got copics too (only 6) and they’re pretty great too,
if you’re a young artist starting out/don’t have a lot of money i think ohuhu is a good starter alcohol marker set.
I have Crazy-z-art markers :(
just ordered mine im so excited
@2024 student7 thanks :)
I'm 10 😂😅

That's cool! How old is she? I might be around her age and I'm really hoping to get copic markers cause I like drawing realistic
Another brand of marker you could look into that isn't as expensive as copics is Chameleons. Personal opinion but I felt like sharing! ^_^ loved the video
'.'
* blink blink *
Also chameleon markers cant have a brush tip cause the ink transfer thing could mess the bristles up.
chameleon markers are a scam. the videos make it look like they immediately blend and fade into the right exact colors, it’s nearly impossible to get the look you want with them
(^ω^)
Patrick Quinn well they did say it was their personal opinion soooo...
Here is something I do with markers that do not have brush nibs and I am having a hard time blending my colors. Tools you will need:
1. A plastic lid , I use a old ice cream lid.
2. A watercolor paint brush, size is up to you. I normally use a small brush.
3. The markers
4. A little bit of rubbing alcohol
Steps:
I also use this trick to add a watercolor effect to my marker art uvu
pastelricky thats so smart!

Ty for the info
Are they more expensive?
I have them. I got them for Christmas. They actually come I a different container it's a pretty mint blue color with flamingos on it. Btw it's a paper/cardboard material and the caps fit on the bottoms
Ohuhu has brushpens, yes. But they are not alcohol based, they are water based so they work totally different. :D
I heard Ohuhu soon is getting the brush nib.

I prefer the dull colors. haha guess I'm weird. but it's good to know there is a marker set for both of us with the colors we like!
You can choose the saturation for each color in copics if you wanted to
@@drawingwiffwaffles me too.

The Copic side almost looks muddy. I definitely prefer the Ohuhu markers. That’s crazy
Same
Just so you know, muddiness comes from colours not being saturated enough so if that's how it reads to you what you probably prefer is the very saturated colours that Ohuhu has. :)
