To get labels off: use lighter fluid. I learned this trick working at a used bookstore and it's magic. The lighter fluid evaporates and does not leave a stain.
I love my cats, but they wreck havoc when I'm trying to record. They are so rambunctious! I forgot to turn the camera off when I removed him, so I thought I'd just put it at the end LOL.
No kittens are bad...too perfect to be. Thanks for promoting my sort of stories. And remember: we women found ourselves decades ago; now, we need to be safe and free to be ourselves.😉 -O.xx
I loved Plant Dreaming Deep. It was my first May Sarton book, too! It always makes me laugh when I see you showing books that I love, own or want to read. We've got the same book brain :D Your Saturday morning routine sounds so lovely. I do almost the same on a Sunday morning with my husband. We sleep late, go to the coffee shop to read (I get tea and a banana and he gets coffee and a snack), and then we head to Goodwill on the way home. The vintage books you got are beautiful! I'm still looking for a vintage hardcover William Wordsworth poetry collection. Someday, it will cross my path. Always such a treat to see your book hauls, Gina! :D Btw, if you read any Maeve Binchy let me know what you think. I haven't tried any of her books yet.
Try Un-Du sticker remover. All the ladies use it in planners, that helps them pick up stickers when they place them down and want them back up to move them . And it doesn’t harm the pages or anything.
I just cannot wrap my brain around why a _bookstore_ would put on a sticker like that. They should know better (and I should have learned my lesson by now!)
Big beautiful pile! Anne Morrow Lindbergh is an excellent writer, and her diaries are really something. Do you like to read diaries? Maybe one day you can make a pile of diaries! Thank you for share your books.
I read Paradise last year and loved it. Warning though, it is a very dense read, and cannot be rushed. I feel like that's the case with all her work though lol OMG that Dorian Grey cover is so cool!!!
Great haul! That Saturday morning routine sounds lovely. I love that edition of Our Mutual Friend. You might try heating up the price stickers with a hair dryer until they peel off more easily.
I've heard that before Katie, but I've never tried it. I'm not sure why - probably because usually I start just hacking away at the sticker before I think about it... this seems like a great first step to try.
Oh my goodness, so many beautiful books (and a beautiful kitty at the end 😆 ). 👏🏻 I'm slightly obsessed with the Everyman's Library editions and pick them up when I can. 😬 As others have said, I find that if I _hit_ a stubborn label with the hair dryer (high heat, on low fan) it usually comes right off! 😉 I'm currently reading Barchester Towers and I love your Oxford edition! 📚 Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Lu. I've GOT to try the hairdryer trick! I was so bummed about this book. I love the Everyman and Modern Library editions soooooo much too. I hope you enjoy Barchester Towers, it is one of my favorite books of all time.
I want to know how Lunch in Paris is! Try using oil to get stickers off. Have you read Our Mutual Friend? Some really excellent characters in that one, of course!
I don’t get the sticker thing either! It makes me furious! I’ve seen some incredibly beautiful books with these horrible stickers just plastered over every kind of antique artwork or gorgeous leather… I’ve sometimes had a word with the shopkeepers - gently begging them to use caution or put the stickers on the inside blank page or something… Erg!😡😡

Oooooo that is an interesting idea. I'll try it! Thanks for the tip.
Agh, those wretched stickers! 😡 I’ve fought many battles with them. 😂 Always good to get some Toni Morrison! The ending made me laugh out loud. 🤣

Maeve Binchy wrote some wonderful books: Circle of Friends, Echoes, Firefly Summer, Tara Road, and Light a Penny Candle. Just to name a few.

Congratulations on a very nice book haul. The Picture of Dorian Gray is such a good book.
Thanks. I'm excited to read it - I keep seeing so many people that love it!
Yay for book buying! ☺️ love the cover of Dorian gray! So cool.
I hope that I can get some credit tomorrow when I try to sell my books. Usually I end up with something like 3 dollars LOL.

Oooooo thanks for the tip! That sounds amazing. I just added it to my cart!
Lunch in Paris is a delightful and fun read. There is also a sequel. Please read them both. 💜
Oh fun, I didn't realize there was a sequel. This was such an unexpected find. I knew just flipping through that I would love it!
Stickers! So horrible. That is a great haul . Love your Dorian Gray edition - I loved reading that in Victober!
I just cannot wrap my brain around why a _bookstore_ would put on a sticker like that. They should know better (and I should have learned my lesson by now!)
What a fabulous haul! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!
Gina, what wonderful finds! I love lazy Saturdays which don't happen very often. Those Modern Library editions are stunning!
Thanks Shelly. I love my relaxing mornings!
Well done! You gave some good recommendations there! Thank you!
Thank you back!
Enjoy the book-shopping phase 🥰 Old and vintage books are the best!
Aren't they though? I love them so much.

I didn't realize she had diaries published too. I'll have to search for those, I love reading diaries.
I take my stickers off with Goo Gone. I make sure and not to get any on the pages. All you need is a little.
Good haul Gina. Look forward to your thoughts on A Portrait of Dorian Gray. Always interested in the shorter victoriam literature.
Thanks Amy, I'll probably read it for #Victober. Maybe... we'll see :)

Thanks for the tip Kevvie. I do find Toni Morrison to be rather difficult in general, which I love. It really expands my brain.
Looks like a great book haul!! Happy Reading 📚!
Thanks Kami.

I haven't read Our Mutual Friend (yet!) but I hope to get to it this year. Maybe I'll do that one for Victober...
I am planning to read 'The Picture Of Dorian Gray,' in either March or April.
I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it Jessica!

Right? These people are supposed to love books (I would assume anyway...)
