Simgot seems to have appeared out of nowhere to make great IEMs. Love how this hobby changes.
They’ve been around for years and was good from the jump. Westerners are now warming up to their greatness.
This is my default recommendation along side the Zero:RED too as for the price they are really good, like these EW200 are absolutely mad for the build and performance.
Edit (for more comparison along the two):
as for comparision for the two, if you wanted more body like on bass guitar, male vocals or midbass in short the I personally find the EW200 have more body and texture than the REDS which are good for organic timbre and that lush subbass. For long periods the REDS are more relaxed on the high end making good for long hours of listening and the EW200 have more extension, making the sound more airy and as well as detailed and spacious. In terms of fit, the nozzles of REDs are definitely larger so if you're concerned with the fit, the EW200 has more pleasant and comfort with my small ears (tho I could also use the REDS comfortably but not as comfortable as the EW200).
Hi, I just wanna ask since I am looking for a direct side grade to the OG zero, and I'm currently looking at the EW 200 and The Zero Reds.
Currently listening to Japanese female vocals like Yoasobi and Aina Aiba and some mix of Fall out boy. Genres are like, Game osts, anime osts, J-idol rock and Some synthesizer.
@@prixivus85 I would consider both as a slight upgrade from the OG Zero but the EW200 are much more detailed and enjoyable in my opinion especially as I was also into AGM (anime/game music) like Hololive Tracks, Ado and etc. as well as you're looking for a sidegrade seems the EW200 is quite a different tuning more than the REDs compared to the OG (as having similar tuned sets may be boring or may felt not worth it for some people). So for me the EW200 is the way (also if you wanted a better build, cable, and fit)
The REDs are the set I would only reommend if you still wanted that subwoofer like driver/separated bass driver (which I would say the REDs has a better implementation and performance than the OG) and more less forward treble and better mids than the OG. And if you wanted as set that is similarly sized or designed with the OG Zero. Edit: also reds are a nice choice if you found the OG fatiguing or too much treble.
I just got the EW200's about 2 weeks ago and I'm loving them, they just fit my preferences so we'll and don't have any glaring deficiencies, I'm so satisfied.
I'm personally partial to the kiwi ears cadenza, even if they're a bit older. They sound great all around, but I find they do vocals the best, both male and female, and I remember using it a lot for jpop until I got the quintet, but they really could handle virtually anything I threw at them
Also Blon bl03 still sounds amazeballs for 30$. Great for rap music, pop music, EDM etc
I will not lie, this comment right here is underrated. I own things many times the price of the BL03 but there's still something mega satisfying about it.
Pinned cuz of nostalgia and it is and always was a great set...worst cable ever...or Senn 2oo...but SQ ..love it
It still remains my daily driver. I have 4 pairs. 2 purple and 2 chrome color. I damaged 2 of them. I'm on my 3rd pair. And since it's affordable I always keep a backup pair
@@narayananmmenon339 I have an unopened purple in my collection. Classic🍷
I bought 2 blondes when they were first hyped. One for blowing and one for blowing😉
All hail the EW200.
Other 1DD contenders that come to mind are the Kiwi Ears Cadenza and EPZ Q5, both worthy sidegrades with different aesthetics.
Tanchjim One (DSP) as well. Perfect gateway IEM for newbies who don't already own a dongle/DAC or aren't used to earhooks and prefer the bullet-style pattern.
EW200 is my overall pick in this range, particularly rock and hip hop. My primary alternative would be the Kiwi Ears Cadenza - which is a great all rounder for all genres and was the first low dollar HiFi IEMs I owned. Both are great, you won’t be disappointed.
between the two which one would you prefer for listening to techno/dnb/idm kinda music - cuz i really love the shell design of the cadenza
@@fappuzen EW200 slightly edges out the Cadenza for those genres in my opinion. But it’s not like it is night and day better. If you prefer the shell of the cadenza, I still think you will be pleased.
Tanya DSP is my favorite budget set. Bullet style is easy to fit, build is great. Great for hip hop, pop, classical even EDM thanks to its clean mid range and bass boost.
Will finally add the EW200 to my collection on 11.11. The debate is settled thanks to your video!
Thanks for the trust
I tried this one live and ended up adding it to our budget case. The bottom line is it eqs very easy, very well, and Ive used it for blues, rock, country, bluegrass and acoustic music. Musicians from drummers to singers all were happy, thats the final decision for me. I haven't tried it with hiphop live, but Im goinna loan a couple to some DJ friends of mine to test. We eq everything of course, so finding something that you can eq to fit almost anything is really good for us. I'm like you , a big Blue Zero fan, but it is not as flexible to eq as the ew200. Its definitely aimed at certain genres , and you come to realize that when you start to eq it.
So we have a few Blue Zeroes for when we have the need for that sound, but we stock a dozen ew200s for the versatility. By the way bro, you have a few dozen of your collabs in that budget case too!! Well loved I might add! I love this type of video where you're asking the fans to comment and compare! Very cool. All the best, Sonny T
Thanks for the love my man Right back at you and the band. Hope the Autumn and Winter is good too you. Summer was brutal..looking forward to holiday season
As a drummer myself I will purchase the EW200 right now, any other suggestions?
Undoubtedly, the ew200 reigns supreme in the sub-$50 category and stands as one of my preferred in-ear monitors. It excels during extended listening sessions, catering to my diverse music tastes, including pop, rock, and even jpop. Its performance across these three genres is truly exceptional, and when you factor in its affordability, it's simply perfect.
how is it with rnb and hip hop?
I still haven't pulled the trigger on a set of EW200, so I can't comment on the quality, but what I DO have, and have continued to recommend is the KZ D-Fi *with* switches ($36)
I personally listen to a lot of progressive heavy metal, rap, hip hop and reggae. The D-Fi isn't as technical as I would like out of a more expensive IEM, but as far as the IEM that I can reach for, and know that it is fully capable of playing everything in my library. I have purchased 3 different sets for relatives, and as non-audiophiles, they have compared the enjoyment experience to something like my Planars (S12, PR2), and only slightly less than the Aful P5.
I will purchase the EW200 on 11/11 and update this post with my genuine thoughts and comparison, but for now I still stay firm to the KZ D-Fi, and I don't believe you need to pay any more than $36 for a good listening experience from an IEM. The D-Fi can handle everything that you throw at it
Haven't tried the ew200s yet but I can confidently say that the QKZ x HBB is the best set for just $20. It delivers more than the value it's being sold at. If you want deep and engaging bass that doesn't muddy the details, these are it. And if you listen to Speed garage tracks then these are a no brainer.
I've got the QKZxHBB and really like them overall But had to order the EW200 after this video and some of the recommendations here. Also, just got the Ziigaat Nuo and it's interesting so far - bit bass thick but kind of a fun listen.
EW200 is great, but the treble gets rough at higher volumes. Tanchjim One DSP is my favorite budget pick under $30 ( probably under $70 ). Because of the programmable DSP, it works well for almost any genre, about the only knock is that the DSP cable is USB-C, so it isn't for folks that love their gear. For rock, I am also a fan of the QKZxHBB, Truthear Hola, and KBear Rosefinch. I enjoyed the impression.
Tanch one dsp is a great set
Under 50, my favs:
1) Blon X HBB Z300
2) Tanchjim One (with Tanya filter on nozzle screen).
Use case - long sessions of live music recording & monitoring.
EW200 simply is just an amazing set. As a matter if fact, I picked them as my most favourite Simgot IEM in your Simgot roundup video. A full metal build just makes it feel so much more premium. The only other IEM I can think of in its price range thats built anything like it is the Z300. Theres definitely 'alternatives' to it such as the Kiwi Dolce, but it doesn't play all genres quite as nice as the EW200. Perhaps the Tangzu Wan'er but only because its essentially a cheaper EW200 soundwise
Chu2? I somehow feel they're a bit ahead of waner in general ise, with tips from Chu1
@@JohnyMcNealehh. Chu2 is so low res sounding. Tuning is decent but quality of sound is like a 2000s cellphone speaker
I haven't heard the 200, so no comments on that front. But I think the FD11 and Lan are in the same ballpark as to build?
Totally agree with you, ew200 is overall the best iem under $50. Since you asked, I think Truthear Zero Red is slightly better in lower mids male vocal, wider soundstage and has natural tonality... Eagerly looking forward for your new iem😊
I’d agree with those who suggested the OG Truthear Zero blue. That’s the IEM to have a party in your head. Somehow, the Zero:Red isn’t quite the same in the bass with the impedance adapter compared to the blue. If club and EDM is in your library, there isn’t much choice other than this. Full disclosure, I’ve never tried HBB’s Kailua collab, but that’s probably above this price range.
I think the Moondrop LAN is still my favorite IEM under $50. Such a clean, energetic, and fun sound signature. Works well for most genres, but really good for J-rock.
the lan is very underrated in my opinion
Truthear Zero, the blue one, for gaming specifically. Boosted bass and trebles are great for immersion and hearing footsteps respectively
both the ew200 and your collab kz pr2 have a very similar frequency response, and theoretically the pr2 could be better due to it being a planar instead of a dynamic, but the build quality of the pr2 cant be guaranteed simply because kz is funny like that
When he was younger,my brother had a friend who would see the same shirt in two different stores but it would be much more expensive in the "fancy" store, and he would always buy it there because it has to be better! I guess the same thinking can apply to IEMs too 🙂
Love your understanding of how most people in the world live. It's a nice touch.
Guess some people have too much money lol.
Will you be doing a "best deals" for 11/11 in different price ranges or simply just your favorite deals? I would be very intersted in that video.
Edit: That comment was made before the end of the video. but still really interested in it
I will go over some good deals on 11/11 I think
I really like the truthear red. i find it to BE a good all rounder plus it comes with an impedance adapter that gives it some added versatility (more bass). i think it's the perfect choice for someone who listens to music while doing other tasks (working on a computer, reading, etc.) as it doesn't grab your attention. it's an easy, smooth and relaxed type of listen with no major flaws. Haven't tried the ew200 but seems like a more energetic, dynamic and technical set. i guess they complement each other nicely. Or maybe they're both good options for different people. pr2 also a good option for someone wanting to try a planar. love it with foams.
I have the Zero Blues... Been thinking of getting the Reds. Would I be wasting money, or do they compliment each other?
@@devonshaffer3819 i have both. they don't overlap. again the blue os the more energetic One while the red is the more relaxed.
HBB I would rec the Zero blue from Shenzen as it's 42.5$ for 11.11 and is one of the very best for HipHop and bass centric music. Like you often say it's one or the very few sets that presents like a seperate subwoofer. I think it beats the EW200 for HipHop even if it's not as resolving.
I am a big BLUE TEAM guy 💙
@BadGuyGoodAudioReviews I haven't heard it with Hip Hop artists but I bet you're right.I can say the 200 can take a little extra bass eq without getting mushy or bottoming out. I used it with a drummer recently and he liked it quite well.
I was going to give you a hard time about this one, because my pick at $40 is the Moondrop LAN. However - I decided to grab a set of the EW200's and it sounds almost exactly the same as the LAN, but with a smidge more bass.
Feels better-made as well.
Ok - you convinced me. This is the best at the price point. 🙂
I find the EPZ Q5 is a really solid option under $50 which competes fairly well against stuff under $100. It is quite suitable for pop and rock in my opinion and it can get a bit too bright and sharp to me.
This recommendation is based on my opinion, Im not an audiophile by any means or form.
Get these two (depending on where you get it both can fit comfortably at 40usd)
A flathead (NicHCK eb2s - not the PRO): A sort of Jack of all trades. (Almost all genre, binaural audiobooks or podcast)
A iem (QKZ x HBB) Fun warm set with minimal compromise - Sample tracks to display signature:
Guantanamera (Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill), Unpretty ( TLC), Dummy by Portishead (Album).
Having two 'types' would provide you different experiences for most your tracks, and both are efficient and can be driven off your phone's jack without much need for an external amp.
I always love the retro vibes. I miss my Microsoft Zune and my Sony usb stick style mp3 players.😊
I like the Tamchjim One with DSP for most genres, in that budget category.
It's pretty cool but I'm havingt album art issues that are 99% my fault..I'm sure
@@BadGuyGoodAudioReviews That's not good. Does it use its own proprietary software?
My opinion.
I have the QKZ HBB, Salnotes Zero and the Ew200. That's the order in which I bought them. I find myself picking up the EW200 every chance I get. They just pair well with any genre. The low and high ends are there. The QKZ HBB is a bass heavy IEM. These are my second favourite and I listen to music with them for the Bass impact. You'll find that Rap and Hip Hop is more fun to listen to on the QKZs. I haven't regretted my purchases.
My pick for under 50 goes to the QKZ X HBB killer set for under 20.
Plays hip hop and rap wonderfully
Happy Diwali!
No alternative set i would rec as i am
Not knowledgeable in this but for 50 bucks i would probably just buy a 8th instead LOL
Rock hip hop!
i haven't listened to the EW200 so i cant really say what i'd recommend over it and i dont want to base it sololy off the graph BUT, i will say the Tangzu wan'er for more vocal heavy songs or more pop music i'd say these are really good.
the blonz300 are really nice budget bass iems and are pretty comfortable i find my self enjoying these for just bout anything i listen to alot of older video game music so i dont know a particular genre but i've enjoyed listening to like megamanbattlenetwork music or megamanzero.... alot of the megaman franchise music with these iems OH and even some of the star ocean music my gawd does it sound good on these.
Maybe it is less versatile but I really like the Truthear Zero original. I love it for my sessions listening to bass music like Distance, Skream and Zeds Dead. You can feel the bass, almost like you’re thousand meters under the water
Under $40 I'd rec blon Z300. For Rock hip-hop both genre It's a really pleasant listen. Sub and Midbass is solid. Mids are ok treble is very good for long listen. Very good set it's been a while nothing happened to that set Unlike one dsp.
Man, Olina launch was good times... A lotta people lost their shet back then. After I heard olina og I sold my oxygen and bought 2 more. Thanks for reminding me. And yeah Jupiter is gonna be a banger too I can feel it.
couldnt agree more, the ew200 is great for 40$, at first i did not like it but after 2 weeks of burnin and some tips change i love them now. nice textured subbass rumble might not have the most quantity bass but whats there it has a good texture, very goood instrument separation for the money. I think it does great for Alternative, indie, acoustic. it does okay for hip hop and edm.
Dope set...underrated if that is possible
@@BadGuyGoodAudioReviewsits not really underrated when all audiophile recommend it
Almost every reviewer recommends this.
It's a $40 and go home set.
Kiwi ears cadenza - great for mids and vocals. Does most genres well. Not optimal for bass heavy tracks
HZSound Heart Mirror, genre: post rock. Not saying it's specifically better, as I don't have the EW200, but the HM is great for the price!
2012 was a great end of the world year. Legato with electro industrial like Cubanate, Funker Vogt, Frontline Assembly, etc. you can be a vocalist for any of them with your old man voice.
Video 3 of commenting on your videos commenting until and after I win an iem...
Bought the simgot ew 200 cuz of your recommendation this is my first iem so cant compare it to anything else, but your comments on that this can play anything very well is true for me. And have been really enjoying it.
I would say the Kiwi Ears Cadenza, just a all around nice sounding iem for the price less then $40 not to mention they have a small nozzle and have a smooth resin shell that feel great in ear.
Is it still good since there soo much new stuff right now.
any idea what genres its good for?
I still rate the QKZ X HBB in that under $40 for bass, works well with Hip Hop, EDM, Psytrance. I prefer its sound to most under $100 IEMs.
That makes perfect sense, Dan Audio reviews puts the qkz hbb close to fat freq in terms of bass warmness and timbre.
I know everyone's been disliking this company for good reason but, the KZ Castor(silver) really impressed me for the money. Great for genres like soul that have lots of strong vocals and instruments. And the QKZxHBB for anything bass.
We don't shame companies, folks can vote with their wallets so rec what you like. That set..maybe the bass ver was great
The Hiby looks like a Sony Ericsson i used to owned back in the college days listening to music while going to class and back home. Good old days.
the blonxhbb z300 would be my alternative to the ew200. Treble is much tamed and bass is warm compared to the energetic ew200. My library is mostly rock music and it plays it really well. Build quality is on par with ew200 and the included cable is really high quality.
I’m going to continue my kiwiears hype train, and the cadenza is a beast. I think it has an overall pleasing tuning that plays pop well, edm, hip hop. Classical is good, not great though
Cadenza is a beast..and colorful too
Chu II, I listen to bass heavy tracks.
Metal, instrumental, female vocals.... etc etc, really loved it out of the box and still enjoy it every other week. for $20? no question!
HBB, I hope at some point you do a collab with Simgot, my choice for an under $50 set would have to be the EPZ Q5. A rock and roll machine.
This video (and comment) got me missing my kiwi ears cadenza. Cheap as heck, beautiful simple resin shell, plays back most genres well. Personally love it for things like jazz, classical, fusion jazz funk, lends good note weight in the mids and lower mids. Had plenty of use for it as a weekend drummer as well (great to follow along with my bassist). At that price, I had no problems throwing it around in my bag/pouch/pocket, no need for bulky carrying case!
Hiby makes really good daps. Looks dope. I still think the kiwi ears cadenza is such a good set for under $50. It plays all genres pretty well. Good sub bass, nice and clear vocals, non fatiguing treble
I totally agree with you. I am currently using Cadenza alongside with Softears Volume. Man Cadenza has its driver potential. If you tweak the cable, Source and tips you get some drastic change. I really recommend cadenza under 50 usd is a solid deal. It has such a natural tonality and the good amount of details and texture in the mid range.
tried the Simgot EW200 this past weekend at an event & found the Oriveti OD100 to be better sounding than these when listening to hip hop, edm & other genres which have more focus on bass & mid-bass. of course not the same price point but similar & I feel worth the extra amount one pays for them. Oriveti OD100 100% recommended for bassheads.
Happy holloween chris and everyone. Will you get an early access and review on 7hz zero 2?
The final version I will...i hope😁
Moondrop SSP, I listen to EDM, Dubstep, Pop, Metal, Rock and a pinch of clasical... I love the v shape it has, bright enough to listen to vocals and thumping base
Add a 4.4mm balanced cable to the EW200 and you're golden for everything!
Around that price range I really like the 7hz Sonus for EDM and Pop
I haven’t tried the EW200 but still for Rock and Rap in the $50 range the Mele is still one of my favorites. You tuned that one right Brother man. New people to the hobby should give it a chance. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Its incredible the improvement of the hobby just in 2 years, as the same as the difference of the SIMGOT between this and the past 4 years
I know u hated the Aria's but they're really good for hip-hop imo and they go lower than 80 specially in 2nd hand market. that'd be my rec. cheers.
For under $50, I still love listening to my Blon BL-03 for any genre with thumping bass. I know it is old, but it still slams!!!
50 dollar range aye? I'd say crinacle project red plays pop, vocals and instruments quite well!!
Okay I've recommended this set before and I realize that this hobby is subjective. But once again it's, IMO, a steal at $49. That set is the Kinera Celest Gumiho. To my ears it does really well with 70's rock and also well with blues artists like Charles Bradley, Joe Bonamassa, Tab Benoit etc.
Didn't see you review the Tangzu Fudu.
Any thought about it?
For grunge, I still listen to my Blon Bl-01 ‘s ($25). Built like tanks!
I bought the crinacle x truthear zero a while ago and its still one of my favourites under 50, especially for hip hop, plays back billie eilish well too due to the bassy nature of some of her songs although the vocals lack compared to other sets
@@Hijynx87 my reason for the blues was that subwoofer type bass, was tryna decide what signature I like.
Currently am on the seeaudio bravery ae, not perfect but in my opinion a great all rounder just a bit expensive
Have the ikko oh10 but find them unnatural, less detailed and too bright for me personally
The Blons 03 still got it, love them, great for rock and electronic, don’t expect details, but warm and musicality.
Looks like a good travel set. Something you wouldn't mind throwing into a bag in between stops on a subway. I'm still getting over that we can have these many sets at under $50 to begin with. Wasn't that long ago that choices in this range were few and far between. More chaffed butt man please. It brightened my day
EW200 with 350 mesh on top of the nozzle tames upper mids by 1-2 db and it becomes very versatile, playing all genres well
There is a lot of good stuff in this range right now but Simgot is one to consider for sure. I'd also point to: epz g10, blon z300 (I personally think it trades blows with the ew200 just fine... does better with rock and hiphop for my tastes), tanchjim one dsp, truthear zero blue.
People who shit on the Olina can kick rocks. The Olina is still a fantastic iem, and definitely on par with the o2, even in the face of something like the ea500 (which I think does exactly what the Olina is doing, but better).
Managed to snatch a 100$ lec this year
You are ready for launch 🚀
What is lec.
I love this part 4:32 😂
Anyways, I guess I'd go for Original TRUTHEAR Zero unless I'd be able to compare it with EW200 side by side to reassess.
For the first timer, any set will be enjoyable unless u found your preference.
Not for a genre of music so much, but for bass lovers in general. Kbear Rosefinch. And quite a bit below the $40 price point as well.
Simgot EW200 is in my radar for a while. I listen to Pop and Rock mostly.
Man I still love th OG Zero from Truthear for hip hop and metal. I know Harman sets are everywhere now but this with the fit and finish and replay just takes the cake and is under 50$
For 11.11, the EW200 is just $23, wow!
where?
Where?
@@jackal8858 On Taobao
Tanchjim one is a great all-a-rounder…but is awesome for rock/metal 😊
For all the genres I listen to (a bit of hip hop, electronic music like synthwave, heavy metal, jazz, funk) I think Tanchjim One is a decent replacement for EW200. One thing I'd like to point out if you decide to get the One: if you have a dongle or a DAP pick a 3.5mm cable over a DSP one as you'll get more bass and you can adjust everything else to get as close as possible to the sound DSP cable produces. Plus, you'll have less problems with the accompanying DSP app.
I love the DSP ver of that set
@@BadGuyGoodAudioReviews yeah it's good but the app is atrocious as it won't let me use my phone number for verification :(
@@BadGuyGoodAudioReviews some reviewers actually prefer it to the ew200.
if you're into Pop music, EW200 is a good starting point
I don't even care about winning.... Just happy watching my bro do his thang
Z300 is really capable for the price. It can take EQ like a champ. Great for Rock and rap, love it. Good cable out of the box too
On this price bracket I gotta throw the OG TinHifi T2 here. Absolute beast of a set for ALL genres so it does a whole lot of things really well. Instruments and vocals sound natural. Bought it 2nd hand for 20eur. With some tiprolling I got that set to sound really good no matter what I was listening to. Need to spend more to best it (like Tin3+ at around 70 bucks) imo.
blon 03 is definitely a contender in this price bracket - hip hop
EPZ Q5 at $50 is great for jazz and instrumental tracks. Also come in two colors - black or white.
The alter ego HBB voice was too funny. 😂
Your impersonation made me think of Kung Pow movie 😂
I believe tanchjim one dsp at 25$ is a bang for buck it has a very useful app & cables are removable with DSP chip it can be used on other IEMS that versatility gets A+ in book & I usually listen to rock & pop I feel it dose a great job. It might not perform technically as well as EW200 if you do not have the budget this is one can be an alternative.
EW200 is a head turner for sure.I bought it as my only iem after trying a lot of items at meets I absolutely love it's character, thickness ,texture
The Tanchjim One DSP plays my library really well which is rock, grunge etc. This is coming from someone with the Mest Mk2 and also had the u12t. For the money they are stunning.
Kiwi ears cadenza. Affordable, all rounder. Scales up very well on good sources!
They don't seem to be interested in shell design. You may not get tired of simple design, but it's the sound that matters.
The kiwi ears cadenza is a great all-rounder alternative. Great for rock and roll.
I was waiting for the annual 11.11 recs haha, you deliver right on time. Mahalo!
I like the EW 200 but if I think for 40$ you're just getting a single DD. So maybe it's better to save the money and get the Tangzu Waner
Or if you really wanna spend more
Get the Crin Zero Blue/Red depending on your preference...✌🏻
For country, folk style, and for rock music, I prefer the Chu II in the under 50 range.
At $40, the EW200 is a godsend especially with rock, pop, and EDM. Energetic but very versatile
your QKZ X HBB is surely budged basshead heaven man, not full only with bass, it decent for everyday listening man. it have decent width & depth, budged set rarely have them
For under $40 QKZ x HBB Khan with it's super clean strong bass for rock/edm or the tangzu wan'er for classical and acoustic would be my recommendations!
I got these ones and it is not only the sound.... I prefer them over the Truthear zeros just because of the size and the fit. The Simgots are insanely comfortable, very recomendable!
Truthear Zero is right at this price as well and could give the Simgot set a run for its money (pun intended) with hip hop, rock, and electronic music I think!
