That was purposeful... they want their viewers (mostly scared older white people) to believe that white people are all victims and have no idea that prisons are actually already disproportionately filled with black and brown people just because they're black and brown! It's anything they can do to keep said white people comfortable in both their own innocence, and victimhood.

I do not agree with anyone over at fox, but as someone from eastern europe, the “average white man” to me lives in a rotting flat, gets a small salary and doesn’t live a comfortable life. And i can hardly believe that there are no white people in america who live this way as well, including farmers. Skin colour should not be the most important factor in business of any kind. And while i do agree that the discrimination against black farmers is terrible, and it should be compensated for in some way, doing the exact same thing but switching the skin colour might not be that, at least in my opinion.

I am learning so much today! I just read about how the town where my parents live came into existence as part of a resettlement program for freed slaves. The slaves were allowed to rent the land; however, when the time came for them to be able to buy, they were not allowed to because the were considered "bad credit risks." The town was one of three areas in Arkansas were black Americans were moved to settle but then they couldn't buy it after living on it and farming it for years. Most of the land there now is owned by white farmers although the population is still predominantly black.
As far as the settlement, my husband's family did not get any of it; I know that they had submitted their paperwork on time.

It's bad simply because hardly anyone will notice when the pendulum has actually swung the the other side, should it ever come to this. This doesn't lead to justice in the long run, but to even more social unrest.
I agree though that something needs to be done to help equalize the damages done through racism. And this particular policy might even help with that regard short and mid term. In the long run Americans should figure out a way to support disadvantaged people, regardless of the source of their disadvantage, to gain a foothold in society. Racism is just one source of oppression, even though a particularly nasty one ...
