    While these are primarily considered guitar effects pedals, they're very useful in the world of synthesizers as well. Multi effects pedals can give your synth literally thousands of new sounds.

      LOL No thanks. Don't get me wrong, I might get a week's worth of fun using this with my hardware synths, but its effects are pretty awful. Especially if you're an Ambient composer. Amplitube's X-Space/X-time? Not bad. Strymon Big Sky? A bit better. Eventide "Space" and "Time" or H9? - Superb. And yes they are way more expensive but the sound you get is simply incomparable to limited mono FX you get from this thing. Algorithmic Reverbs and Delays are in a league of their own.

    @3:44 Guitar Face! LOL!! Rock ON!!! Great demo! Yamaha has a series of small portable amps that are pretty amazing... battery powered... get pretty loud... can store presets and save them to PC via USB, and also act as an audio interface for a DAW... and includes a ton of effects that are pretty darned respectable sounding. As someone else here noted,, we live in good times when such great tech can be so affordable.

  • @Spidouz

    And when we know how digital technologies keep getting better and cheaper, it's just a matter of time before this kind of portable multi-effects sound just as good as the current Fractal, Helix, Kemper, Positive Grid and such... Kids those days, don't even know realize how lucky they have since music instruments have never been so affordable and accessible by anyone.

    • @joesatchton212
      @joesatchton212 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +Phil Smith: ^ This. Exactly right. 35+ years of slogging it on guitar and for sure, we have never had it as good as we do now for gear. Absolutely, kids today so frickin' lucky on this score. :)
      As for mini-sized stuff like this that will legitimately compete with the current "Big 4" digital modelers I can only say this - I hope not TOO soon, since I just coughed up for an AX8. lol For 80USD though, this thing does sound OK. Definitely not a threat to even older big boys like my beloved Boss GT-8 and GT-10, but at the asking price, certainly not lousy. Closer, but still no cigar at the moment.
      cheers man...spot on comment - glad I am not alone in stating such things!

    • @Spidouz
      @Spidouz 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I don't think (almost hope?) it will come soon... because I'm also thinking about AX8 (or Axe?) to go with Helix and Kemper rack (trying to build some kind of double 4-cable method with the Helix as core of the rig and Fractal and Kemper as "Amp") to get dual path with two FRFR Cabs. So that's a lot of money I have to save to get there, and I'd sick to see a $100 "gadget" doing it just as well... But somehow, I know that sooner or later, it's gonna happen; that's what happen with digital technologies.
      And I come from a world of analog gear, using valve amps (also in stereo), but I came to the conclusion that today, it's not worth anymore (unless you already have the gear, or you're a collector).
      If I want to get at home the same sounds from the studio, I would need a Mesa Mark V, Fender Twin, Marshall JCM800, Bogner Shiva, LoneStar Special, Dual Rectifier, Vox AC30, Orange Terror and a Translantic 15....Even if I would keep two such the Mark V and Shiva, it will already cost me just as much as buying the Helix Rack, Kemper Rack and AX8... But with the second solution, I will have hundreds of effects, hundreds of Amps and Cabs, and a way better result because I wouldn't have to use mic, preamp, and even treat my home room to get a good sound. I could just pick the IR Cab of my choice. And I will have thousands more possibilities, an easier way to record, and reamp later, and change setting during the mix, etc... Everything could fit in a rack case (even better if it's an Axe FX), could be easily transported, will require very little maintenance, will always have the perfect sound, etc...
      So it's not only cheaper and easier, but it's also better sound, more choices, lighter, etc... That's why I definitely believe now in Digital systems. It was not great until lately, and until they can really capture the whole valve/analog sound... but now they can.
      And of course, it's just a matter of time before this technologies is mass produced. Just look at the BIAS App on the iPhone... So yeah, sooner or later, we will see it on some stuff such this Mooer portable effect. And it's gonna get even crazier with the future pickups with IR (such the Keyztone... it's not famous yet, but when it will come, it will really be the next step too... allowing to have pretty much any kind of pickups response, curve, dynamic and setup... by just having an "IR", without even using digital conversion whatsoever)
      We will really have a way to get a '59 PAF sound on the neck and a single coil Tele '55 in the bridge, and the next song, we could have a high-output active pickup, and the next one a filtertrone, or lipstick, etc...
      Now combine that with the "Game Changer" system from Ernie Ball to have any kind of wiring setup... you will pretty much get the "ultimate" guitar, with the ultimate effects/amp/cab system...
      And hopefully, this is something we could see in our lifetime... I just can't wait (to the point I'm trying to build something similar with existing products combined... but way more expensive for now; as usual with new technologies).
      My 2¢

    I understand these aren’t “professional quality” but I am astounded at what you get for around $45. When I started guitar in 1996 it was $80 just to get a simple distortion pedal. I paid $119 for just a chorus.

    Got pretty excited about this gizmo but it's kind of lacklustre. If it was like AU$30-$40 then yeah maybe. Compared to an iRig + full ToneStack app (assuming you already own an iPhone), it's going to be around the same price. ToneStack has a much more diverse amp/effects library (and sounds better I think), tap/set metronome, tuner, compatibility with the iRig blueboard and some other cool features. And because you're using your phone, you don't need to connect power, plus you're internet connected and can play along with jam tracks on TH-cam or even your bands songs for practising at homes, which eliminates the need for an aux.
    Nice video though Burgs, thanks for showing us what this little fella can do.

      Unfortunately, they no longer make or support the mini. I had to buy the pandora stomp, which is big and bulky, but the same as the mini (when the mini's computer flipped out, no they won't even look at it for repair). As I use it for travel, this little thing may be my next purchase.

    • @ctgblue
      @ctgblue 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I bought one of these last week and, while it's pretty decent for what it is, it ate a set of AAA batteries in 20 minutes. New, out of the package batteries. Now they were just Rayovac's, but the Pandora stomp I have has been using it's 9V for 6 months, so about a true 3-4 hours of playing time. While I understand that they are different batteries, the units are setup for the same purpose and 20 minutes is inexcusible IMO. I am returning it. If I were just going to use it on the adapter (which is included) it would be okay. But I bought it to replace the Pandora mini I had and that used little batteries and lasted for hours too.

      PE 100! It's more versatile. I just order the PE 100. I have the Pockrock a couple of yrs. It's good for the $32 I paid but limited in what it can do.

    Hate to be a downer but I just got this thing and I think it sounds terrible. The Reverb being the worst part. It's unusable! The room verb is a slight echo while all other reverbs have this out of tune note ringing in the background. I thought it was my guitar so I switched, same thing with another. I'm baffled by this.
    The tones are squished but some how lack sustain. I bought this for the amp modeling and some decent reverb and I've found it to be completely useless. I didn't expect Strymon quality reverb but my Zoom 505 from the late 90's is better than this thing. Very disappointed.

    Are we kidding? My old zoom 9002 sounds better than this... plus it's smaller and 30 years old.
