@Labour Law Advisor pls could you make a video on mutual fund taxation.
      1) How do we need to pay the tax when we redeem (thru IT return?).
      2) Are there any tax saving strategies like tax harvesting, rebalancing (need to know what are these) OR is it good to only redeem only say after my goal of 20 yrs (eg.) and pay 10% tax in the end?
      3) Also, when is the right time to exit? 2 3 yrs before when we need the funds?... To take care of any market fluctuations.
      4) what is indexation?
Many are clueless wrt to MF taxation, any video on this topic would be really helpful - Thanks.

The market trend can turn around very quickly. In fact, the indexes often switch from a bear market to a bull market when the news is at its worst and the mood of investors is at its lowest point. I read an article of people that grossed profits up to $150k during this crash, what are the best stocks to buy now or put on a watchlist?

In particular, amid inflation, investors should exercise caution when it comes to their exposure and new purchases. It is only feasible to get such high yields during a recession with the guidance of a qualified specialist or reliable counsel.

      Good morning sir.
I plan i invest 1lakh in SBI multicap fund which has current NAV of 10.9
      My reasoning is this:
SBI has consistently performed well across all segments of MF (Small,Mid,Large,Flexi,ELSS)
And the fund managers of this scheme have managed other SBI mutual funds successfully.
So i am confident that the NAV of this scheme won't be around 10 or lower after 2years.
I expect it to cross 20NAV in two years based on performance of other Sbi MFs.
      Is my reasoning correct?

5:28 Please get corrected at this point in the video you said outstanding shares of mutual funds are like shares of the company and it depends upon the company how much number of shares they want to keep but it's not like that. The NAV is always fixed at the time of launch (eg. Rs. 10) and the outstanding shares are determined by dividing the number of shares from the Total Corpus raised. The outstanding shares always keep changing depending upon redemption and subscription.

Thanks for informative content. I am asking very simple question, lets consider I want to invest 50k monthly then 25k each in two funds or 10k each in 5 funds. I believe 25k each in two funds is more riskier than 10k each in 5 funds. Everyone says Portfolio should be diversified so 10k each in 5 funds would be ideal scenario. Another concern about sector fund but I believe some sectors funds like ICICI prudential technology funds are giving consistent returns over several past years so its not bad to put sector fund in portfolio might be only 20% allocation from entire portfolio and its all depends on requirements. In long term perspective sectors fund are quite good specially IT sectors which always outperform other sectors in long term 10 to 15 years

Great video! I'm still kinda confused about expense ratio though. If returns and NAVs are calculated after factoring in expense ratios, then why do we even need to bother?!

    • @LabourLawAdvisor
      @LabourLawAdvisor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      1. High expenses being deducted from NAV automatically means lower return. This is important, same MF will have 2 versions: regular and direct. Regular plan will have a higher expense ratio.
Meaning, returns from the direct plan will be higher than those of regular plan even though it is the same mutual fund.
      2. You would want to know which mutual funds fail to beat their benchmark and yet charge a high expense ratio. It's a sign to stay away from them.
Only if a mutual fund justifies expense ratio by its performance, we need not worry.

One thing I don't get about MFs is that their declared returns don't match up with their actual returns. For example I have invested in ICICI prudential technology Direct Plan Growth. I've been putting Small SIPs in this fund since October 2020 so it's been 2 years 7 months since then. My total principle invested stands at 80,500/- but my returns stand at -3.85% at 77,402. But when I click on the mutual fund portfolio it says that this fund has given 174% absolute returns in the past 3 years. How can that be when my own investment is at 3% loss?

Form morning I was thinking I’m investing only in 4 large cap mutual funds so I will start to invest in 1 small-cap, 1 mid-cap & 1 liquid but your video come in suggestion and it’s change my full view. I analyze and I understand in my portfolio I have 4 mutual funds but they are investing in same companies.
