hi jason. i have been listening to your tracks for a while now and i really love them. i suffer from a dissociative disorder called maladaptive daydreaming. it affects my ability to be present and consciously aware of the moment, because i am compulsively pulled into an abstract daydream world which, is basically like a fantasy land that gives so much dopamine that i swear it fried my receptors. its like having another world in your head, and being pulled between your real life and what is in your head and you can’t control it. it affects my ability to feel my emotions (i feel constantly detached), form memories (if i dont take a video or picture it will be very fuzzy or hazy in my head because i was daydreaming at the same time). there is a lot more articles that explain it better than i do, if you want to research on it. do you think it would be possible to make a frequency video that helps with dissociative disorders like that? that helps you stay grounded in the present moment, alert and aware of everything? like basically a tone video for mindfulness/inducing a state of mindfulness? or if you already have a video like that and i just missed it. im really struggling and i know a lot of other people are too with these things. i really appreciate your work!
I didn't know about this one, that sounds like an awful lot to navigate in the day to day, every day, all day. :/ I have my own fun stuff to get through, so I understand what a slog is. I hope you find things that help manage.
Wow, never knew that was a thing. Also lightbulb moment regarding what I've been experiencing. You start turning to an inner world since it seems better but then, unexpectedly, it's all where you need to be
Thanks sungodz. I have been asked about maladaptive daydreaming before, so I have looked into it a little bit in the past. Unfortunately, I haven't come across any brainwave entrainment research relating to it. So I'm afraid I'm unable to help you with that at the moment.
Hi, Sungodz, I can feel you on this. I haven't been to any doctor about my problem but I am certain that I have maladaptive daydreaming. Everyday, I spend much of my time fantasizing about my future and if I am not satisfied with my imagination I change it to something more colorful until I get satisfied. This has been such a hindrance to my productivity, it disturbs me a lot, when a thought starts I can't resist it from continuing the scene as if I was making my own movie, I don't stop until I reach the happy ending. I tried reading "The Power of Now" book but, it somehow helped me minimize the daydreaming. Every time I encounter such as a good movie or I read an amazing book, my mind starts to wander and imagine that I was that character of that movie or from that book. I tried meditation and keeping myself busy at the present to stop my mind from wandering, they can work also. May we find peace. . .
I also live with maladaptive daydreaming and heavily relate to this. Also, it's difficult to read or watch anything as I'll never finish it cause I'd want to make up the ending over actually knowing it. Sometimes I can even go into dissociative trances which makes doing any simple task next to impossible and I have to fight to force myself to do anything other than daydream. Not to mention I'm currently being tested for ASD/ADHD which probably doesn't help my attention span, lmao. Honestly, it is kind of comforting to know that someone else experiences this as I've never met/talked to a single other person who struggles with this. Thanks for sharing.
