    Presumably you did this work for more reliability? I am planning on stripping my SR125R aprilia with the same engine into malossi 172cc, 25mm carb, upgrade crank etc etc. I want to avoid more work and maintenance so I want to avoid liquid cooling but I understand it could be a much more reliable but I also would then save this scooter for nice dry days going for a rio around the city so I don’t think I would run it for long and when I do the work I will fit a thermostat to watch the heat levels. Do you think this is safe. It wouldn’t be an every day bike after fully customisation of the scooter.

    • @binostuning
      @binostuning  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did this work because at a certain level of tuning, the air cooled is fine. But if you want to go full throttle for longer and your scooter have a more than a sport cylinder, you should go with liquid cooling. Also for every day use, my opinion is to stay with air cooling because it's less complex (especially for electric water pump setup). For my setup, if you go fast, the temperature is fine but it will raise if I get caught in traffic. Exactly the opposite was happening with the AC setup. Also the LC is easier to tune and in all circumstances is more reliable.

    • @binostuning
      @binostuning  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks my friend. Probably the AC has less power at the top end, but not only from the fan. The LC is more 'stable' on tuning and you can tune it a little on the lean side, so the mixture burns better.

    Hi , congratulations for the great video!
    I am in Australia and the zip sp ac is not available , so I was very interested in what you did.
    Can you be so kind to tell me some parts details/ numbers:
    -Radiator
    -Radiator bottle
    -Bottle cap -Radiator mount an screws
    -Radiator hoses (custom hoses 5/8'' diameter) + 2*90 degree pipes -
    -12V electric water pump -
    -Plastic pipe for inlet ( this the one you see at 5:38 ?)
    The inlet for the water pipe: did you have to drill it?
    did you use the front plastic from a zip sp to allow air on the radiator?
    Would you do a conversion like this using a Top trophy/ DR evo ( same thing apparently ) 2 rings "base" 70 cc.
    As far as "special tools" you used : extractor for flywheel, extractor to separate the cases and impact air gun. Any other " special " tool ?
    How many kms did you do so far?
    Sorry for the 1000 questions :)
    Thanks!!

    • @binostuning
      @binostuning  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for your great words!
      Firstly, the conversion is over a year that has been made, that's why i don't remember all that parts/steps.
      In the description are the most of the parts that you need to complete the conversion. I don't describe some parts like gasket maker (Permatex) or flanges etc.
      Yes the plastic pipe that you see at 5:38 is for the inlet of the water to the cases.
      The hole for the plastic pipe already exists but you have to grind it to fit the plastic pipe.
      I changed the front mask to SP to let the air enter, I bought it from eBay for ~90 euro.
      You can do this conversion with any LC cylinder you want.
      For special tools I used those you said except case extractor. Also it doesn't need to open your cases. I opened mine because I would change the crankshaft bearings.
      I can't tell you how man kms i did so far because my odo is stuck on 20000kms, but I think is around 5000km.
      I am running a hour meter, now it is on 230 hours. No problems at all. Streetrace kit is very reliable and powerfull for fun riding with wheelies.
      Be careful not to overthighen some screws on the cases, and keep the cylinder room very clean. Also use full synthetic oil.
      Good luck

    Do you have to split the engine cases or can this be done without doing so?

    • @binostuning
      @binostuning  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Extract I think is better to split the engine cases in order to install some new gasket on the 2 halfs of the cases because is important to keep any water away from the crankshaft but you can do this without splitting the cases. If you do the conversion without splitting the cases be careful to clean very well the intake of the water pipe that needs to be grind.

    • @binostuning

      My opinion is that you shouldn't split the cases alone if you are not sure what are you doing, don't take any risks because you will damage your engine, get a person who knows how to do this. It's very easy to make a mistake. Of course I can help you with the tools and parts.

    Why grind it when you already install it. I would grind it when it's in 2 pieces.
