Great piece of work and it just shows how short sighted cutting up the railway and no tought that Britain would grow, towns would grow and the need for railways as we move out into the Suburbs and beyond. Towns in Kent,Surrey and Hampshire with poor cross conection but direct connections to London so we rely on a poor bus service. We now are playing catch up re-opening lines even making Parkways with bus connections and huge car parks.
More outrageous than sad is how closure came about. Not due to Thatcherite politics at the time (though this was highly significant) but to SUSTRANS acquiring it after British Rail moth balled the line in 1984,
I have cycled this line from Barnstaple to Bideford and this superb video makes what it used to be like come alive
Great work . Visited here last week so was of particular interest.
Absolutely superb, like the Kathleen and May, a long lost treasure revived. If you ever need a camera boat to track the riversides route, let me know.

Great video
Great vid as usual and really enjoyed it .are you going to do the section from Torrington to Halwill as this was once a through route .
I would like to continue that line unfortunately the maps I was working from predated the extension to Halwill!
Know there is one route I would like to see in this format the former West Drayton -Uxbridge ( west London)
