I love listening to Maverick. Such a smart little dude. Tell him to please keep up the common sense because it's something that is missing in much of our world.
Every time you did the knee kick, my knee would hurt. Installing carpet a long time is such a hard job. Doug, you are such a hard hard worker. I get so excited for every post. Your house is beautiful. 🤗❤️
3:47 Love how Maverick puts his Lil hands on his hips after helping you place the first section of padding...... Like a Supervisor and looking at his handy work. Too adorable!
I've been in construction for over 50yrs and can tell you the hardest job is flooring, especially carpets. It is one of those tasks that should be left up to the professionals.
From his smiles and grins, you can tell Maverick loves being his Dad’s helper. I’m sure his Mom’s too. The room looks beautiful, I’d expect no less with your skills.
You’re choice of color and materials are so great !! It was so fun watching Maverick help, he’s such a grown up little man!! I’m so proud of you two 👏👏
Parents letting their kids help (instead of plopping them in front of a screen to get them out of the way) will change the world. Bravo Dad and Mom. And hooray for demonstrating how to make sustainable and non-toxic choices.
Accidentally I tumbled upon your channel. I like your channel instantly. Your channel is very very informative and inspiring. Your channel is fun to watch. We enjoy it very much and learn a lot. Ashley and you both look cute together.
This was such perfect timing! I was just researching natural carpets with less chemicals and toxins the other day. I LOVE carpet in the bedrooms! Though most people say its outdated now. It makes me feel more cozy and at home! I was starting to give up on finding more natural carpets and i was looking to put giant rugs in the bedrooms 🤣
Wow, that carpet looks awesome! It’s wonderful that you don’t have to deal with seams in the middle of your room. I say job well done Doug! I love it. Maverick you’re such a great helper ❤️ God Bless each and everyone of you.
You can take leftover pieces of carpet to a carpet outlet kind of store and have an edge stitched on to it. so then you could use it somewhere else in your house as an area rug.
My husband has done carpet and flooring for over 40 years, He said you did a good job for your first time. Good job can't wait to see how nice your bedroom will look....love in Christ Sherril...
Save your strips they make excellent bedside foot warmers when you get up at night or maybe by the front door to knock the sand off your shoes or just to have in case carpet gets damaged and you have to cut out a piece and have a new piece put in to correct a damaged spot or stain you can't get out. Text some of the really good quality carpet stores in your area so you know how to finish the edges on a piece use that way. Using material that blends with the carpet is usually the best way to go then you can hand sell it Onto the edge and then hand sew it in at 3 inches of 4 inches so you don't have the edges s unraveling. Everything is looking so pretty, I guess the last thing to do is the kitchen? Will it be like the one you built in your last house in Michigan? I liked the pot filler and spot for your Berkey! Thanks for sharing so far you've kept me very interested!
I will say that carpet surprised me but it’s gorgeous. Love love the choice of truly organic material. Maverick is very thoughtful of his words. What a smart young man. Watching him standing with his hands on his hips is sooo u guys. Great video.
Doug and Ashley, I grew up in a house built in 1928 so I can appreciate the look you are going for. You have my admiration for all the nice work you have done. Your carpet choice is awesome. 😊
Moments I like so far before I forget: Love ❤ when Maverick helps out! He is such an intelligent little boy. As his parents, you give him great opportunities to learn and grow. His vocabulary and sentence structure is beyond his age. Bella is growing into a beautiful young woman. She looks so much like her mother! She is also pretty strong helping to move the carpet. Both of your bottons up in the air smelling the wool carpet made me giggle. Doug, you under the end of the carpet was absolutely funny!
Your efforts and time has paid off. Absolutely Beautiful. Excited for the next project. Your a very talented and strong family. I have been living with construction for months. Its not easy and hard with kids. Thank you for always being genuine and faithful with content. Ashley your a strong women to juggle all u do behind the scenes.
I grew up in a house in the country that my father built in the 1930's. It had all oak hardwood floors, but every room had a rug that had about 1 foot of space between it and the wall. The doors were all locked with skeleton keys. Can you imagine? Anyone could easily get in but no one worried about that and they were rarely locked. My father built the framing from cedar wood (from local wood and mills). It had cedar shingles on the outside. The inside had lathe and plaster walls that my mother wallpapered.. It looked like an English cottage and was 1-1/2 stories. Bedroom ceilings on the second floor followed the roof line on the sides. The home is still there and still looks beautiful with new owners. It will probably last a long time being built with cedar. I was born in that house.
I hope you saved that roll of excess carpet. It will be perfect if you ever have an area that needs replacing. Just cut out the bad spot and put down the leftover. No need to try to match the color. You guys did an awesome job!! Good work!!
I love your channel! You are always upfront about your projects and you show us the do's and don'ts. It is heartwarming to see Maverick help Dad! We are missing Belle's artwork!! Ashley love you color choices! On to the next room!!
Oh my goodness just beautiful. Love Maverick’s accent. He is just the smartest little guy. I love watching him help y’all out. Bella I wished I could go barefoot. It’s below 30’s in Tennessee at night. So happy y’all can enjoy warm weather. Well until next video enjoy your great accomplishments. I know your so proud and happy as I’m for you all. ❤
Your attention to detail and willingness to learn, work hard and patience is a great example to anyone watching your channel. Thank you for showing us the possibilities if we just do it. ❤️😃
Snug as a Doug in a Rug hahaha fantastic job guys! My grandparents put in a very high end wool rug back in the 50s in there dining room. We sold their house last year and that rug was still so beautiful and lasted all those years with very minor repairs.
My grandma had wool carpeting put in her home in the late 60s. When my parents sold it in the mid 2010s the carpet still looked new. I like natural fiber area rugs. One day I'll own a home again and put in wool carpets.
I'm so happy that Maverick is taking an interest in how things are coming along and is at the age to want to dip his toe into the water. Your kids are getting a real life experience in what you are teaching them in the curriculum. They seem confident, compassionate, and interested in the world around them. They will have many different areas to draw from in experience.
I had two surgeries on my knee, I was in pain watching Doug hit the tool with his knee😩😁 Fantastisk and beautiful work! 👍💯👏👏👏💖 I forgot to say, sending love to the family 🙏💞
Hello my favorite family I love the way you explain to us what you are doing and how and why you doing this way thank so so much for the journey on your house it turning out beautifully please don’t stop the videos marverick is so cute please say hi to your lovely wife and daughter too God bless your happy home ❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰🥰
Doug, it is so good to see your son beginning to help you with the work you're doing. Keep encouraging him toward manhood by including him in the satisfaction and joy of your work. With the homeschooling that you and Ashley are doing and the freedom to pursue his God-given purpose and calling in life, Maverick could be a free man by the time he is 14 or 16 years old owning his own business and property. I just ordered a book that I am going to be sharing with my grandchildren who are also being homeschooled. It's about a young boy who started his first business (breeding and selling rabbits) at 7. At 9, he bought a 350-acre ranch. A year later, he bought a house. He never attended school, watched TV, played video games, or accepted pessimism. In May 2022, at 14, he self-published his autobiography, Don’t Tell Me I Can’t, An Ambitious Homeschooler’s Journey. The book pulls readers into a view of living that few people can even comprehend today: A family that believes in freedom, responsibility, play, hard work, family love, and letting life teach its own lessons. www.coolriverpub.com/2022/09/29/dont-tell-me-i-cant/?fbclid=IwAR3QFFF5ravrnn286WKIt9DggKAf9vaXfJgB5F6aQusyOPHITFHN0ZxMPNc
I home schooled my 2 boys in the 90s from Kindergarten old school ( no computer) ALS- Accelerated Learning Systems and they really do have so much more common sense. Over the years watching Bell and Maverick growing up has been wonderful ! The carpet looks awesome. Beautiful job Doug !
I'm a 66 year old woman and laid carpet in half my mobile home this summer. I couldn't use the carpet stretcher because my knees won't take it. Most of my carpet came from the Habitat resale store, some from a local outlet. Mine is not perfect but it looks a ton better than the old did. I cut mine outside on the drive and brought it in. Much lighter. ☺☺
Doug and Ashley, the room is absolutely beautiful. You both have done such a great job with this master bedroom suite. Maverick, your Dad could not have done the laying of the carpet without your help. You are getting so big and can help your parents out a lot. Keep being the sweet and gentle boy that you are.
I love Maverick's willingness to help. He's been waiting a long time to help Dada.🤗🤗 Maverick just has good everything.. Hi, Belle. You guys are such excellent role models for your children. Doug, I hope the journey you and Ashley has gone through, you could write a best seller on your life plans and journeys, you guys believed in each other, raising children, restoring homes from the smallest to your forever white castle. I always say, you guys are awesome.
I kept trying to imagine what type of wood flooring you were going to put in that room with all that other wood and surprise!!! You did carpet. It looks great
It’s beautiful! I love the idea of no glue, plastic, or foam. My son & d-n-law bought a brand new house built to their specifications…I can barely spend two nights in the place bc of the chemical smells. I guess they’ve gotten used to it? It’s been six years since they moved in & I still can’t handle it! This house has got to be your forever home. You’re putting so much love ❤️ into it, I just can’t see you leaving. At least not for a while. 😊.
I really appreciate your dedication to reducing non-renewable products. Wish everyone would be sustainable thinking! Looking great! As an interior designer I can tell you the dye lot available can be pretty different from the sample. Getting a cutting for approval is a good idea.
Maverick is such a treat!! At 3:54 his 'pose' cracked me up - he was carefully studying Dada, insuring he was doing everything correctly. I admit I was always surprised your family didn't have carpet when living in cold climates. Now in Florida you have a 100% wool/natural floor covering installed. It is lovely. Less echo is certainly a good thing. It shouldn't be long before you can arrange for everyone to sleep in your room with easy access to a totally new bathroom, for now. After sleeping in the bus for over a year that will be a treat for everyone. (At 3:08 this morning it was 27⁰ just south of Atlanta GA! Thankfully it was dry.) Your videos are always interesting, informative and entertaining - who could ask for more?!?
Little man is so amazing, between his common sense and the experience he will gain from you as he grows into an adult, he will be a wonderful husband and father. You must be so proud of your children, they are truly quite special. PS I love the carpet.
Nice work, crew!! Nice neutral color and the carpet looks great. Nice to see a glimpse of that awesome green glass doorknob, I'd forgotten about that touch. Just beautiful. Happy moving!
Maverick needs his own TH-cam channel, he’s just too cute for words. Room looks great! Yes, you’ll probably need to do another stretch on that carpet in a few months. You’re a lot braver then me to install your own all to wall carpet.
The room looks great and it is so fun that you have your children help at times. They will never be afraid to tackle anything because they have such a good example in their parents 👍
I'm with you, Doug. I prefer tiles and wood floor. But I'm happy for Ashley to fulfill her wish. You are very gentle and clean people, so I think the carpet will work for you nicely. I'm so happy you are finally moving in and excited for future projects.
Beautiful! Loved the comedy. Maverick is becoming a great helper. The color of the carpet compliments the room. And with natural carpet, there are always color variations. Glad you and family are not allergic to wool.
How beautiful that room is now. I would love to see before and after pictures from the spot you were standing at the end (if you have a before picture like that). The transformation is incredible!
I’m renovating a 75yo house that I had moved to my property. Your videos have been extremely helpful. However, I’m going to have to send my flooring bill to you guys because now I want 100% wool rugs 😂
I dye yarn for a living and know exactly the smell you are referring to! I love it, my husband hates it. Thanks for sharing the benefits of wool!! It’s such an amazing and undervalued resource. Another awesome video.
My dad could fix or install just about anything but he only did carpet once. That stretching tool killed his knees. The next time my mom wanted new carpet, my dad ponied up for professional carpet installers. Kudos to you for doing a good job.
They also make a different stretcher now that you don't hit with your knee. It extends across the room and pushes against the opposite wall. It's pretty neat.
You made the best choice possible with the wool carpet and the wool padding. It lasts forever, is easy to spot clean, And it is easy on the lungs. Great job of installation! And I love it that your little guy Maverick is helping you. And Bella.
Looks lovely and the room come along nicely and can’t wait to see it all together with furniture in it. Keep up the hard work and thanks for sharing with us take care
I love listening to Maverick. Such a smart little dude. Tell him to please keep up the common sense because it's something that is missing in much of our world.
Omg Maverick is utterly adorable 🥰!!! He’s so smart and interesting to listen to!! Great job the room looks fabulous!!
Thanks!
Every time you did the knee kick, my knee would hurt. Installing carpet a long time is such a hard job. Doug, you are such a hard hard worker. I get so excited for every post. Your house is beautiful. 🤗❤️

Maverick is so cute smart and not afraid to get involved in the work. And he knows what he is talking about. I just love it😃😃😃😃
From his smiles and grins, you can tell Maverick loves being his Dad’s helper. I’m sure his Mom’s too. The room looks beautiful, I’d expect no less with your skills.

Aaah I love watching Maverick joining in on the work! He is adorable and such a good helper❤️
Great job guy's. Maverick is a smart little man & He did great helping daddy.
Lil man has turned into such a great helper. Glad to see he's so motivated to help. He Really wants to. That's rare

I love the home-y feel carpet has too!
Jute, Hemp and wool are all great choices.

Hang onto that stretching tool, don't sell it too quickly. You will need it in about six months to tighten up your carpet. A tip from experience!
I will say that carpet surprised me but it’s gorgeous. Love love the choice of truly organic material. Maverick is very thoughtful of his words. What a smart young man. Watching him standing with his hands on his hips is sooo u guys. Great video.
Fantastic job, great choice of carpet and lovely to see Maverick so pleased and proud to be working with his Dad.

Maverick you are a TEAM PLAYER . I don't think your Dad could do that job without you. We are so proud of you. You're growing smarter every day.

Not what I thought you would do, but it looks good. I agree with Ashley, something soft to walk on. Wonderful helper, he's so cute.
I had two surgeries on my knee, I was in pain watching Doug hit the tool with his knee😩😁 Fantastisk and beautiful work! 👍💯👏👏👏💖 I forgot to say, sending love to the family 🙏💞
Doug’s getting slap happy 😆

Looks professional! Nothing like getting out of bed and stepping on a soft floor!
Doug, it is so good to see your son beginning to help you with the work you're doing. Keep encouraging him toward manhood by including him in the satisfaction and joy of your work.
Common sense? I'll bet that wasn't learned in or out of school. I'll bet it was learned from emulating parents. Congratulations.
I'm so excited for you guys, you are almost in your bedroom
I love Maverick's willingness to help. He's been waiting a long time to help Dada.🤗🤗 Maverick just has good everything.. Hi, Belle. You guys are such excellent role models for your children. I always say, you guys are awesome.
I kept trying to imagine what type of wood flooring you were going to put in that room with all that other wood and surprise!!! You did carpet. It looks great
We like to be unpredictable sometimes, haha.
Y'all looked like professional carpet installers!! I love the wool carpet and the color is awesome!
Maverick is going to be a diy genius. So nice to see your son working with you. I’m new to the Channel. I’m enjoying watching the evolution. 🤗
Thank goodness y'all had Mavrick's help or you would still be trying to install the carpet..lol. He was such a big help.
Little man is so amazing, between his common sense and the experience he will gain from you as he grows into an adult, he will be a wonderful husband and father. You must be so proud of your children, they are truly quite special. PS I love the carpet.
Maverick is a smart little guy. So cute! Love the carpet. This build is the very best!
Something I learned as a carpet cleaner, don't use a steam cleaner on wool rugs it makes them shrink. Great job Maverick 🥰
Yea, thanks.

Beautiful! Loved the comedy. Maverick is becoming a great helper. The color of the carpet compliments the room. And with natural carpet, there are always color variations. Glad you and family are not allergic to wool.
Mavrick is growing up .... liked how he was helping .... and his speak is really coming along .... all the best
“That’s what I’m talking about” says Maverick. I am just cackling. One smart boy. I love it 🥰 😅😂
Flawless job Doug. Every aspect of this project is fascinating. Not just for the skills but also the design.
Doug an Ashley, you did an excellent job! The room looks beautiful. Enjoy it. Love to you all🇳🇱🌷🍀❤️😘
The rug looks great and the bedroom is awsome
Wow Maverick you're doing big boy jobs just like your Dada. Well done young man x
Regards
Ann
How beautiful that room is now. I would love to see before and after pictures from the spot you were standing at the end (if you have a before picture like that). The transformation is incredible!
Once the room is done we will probably do a before/after video :)
It looks very good and I love the colors!! 👍😍
Another job well done 👍🇬🇧

They also make a different stretcher now that you don't hit with your knee. It extends across the room and pushes against the opposite wall. It's pretty neat.
So nice that it is one piece, no seams.
Maverick is so helpful for such a little boy, his speech is so good an intelligent little boy
Wool is the best, the price will tell you it’s the best! I love it!!!!
When Doug said "start moving in" I clapped and said yay! And I'm sitting here by myself. Well done!
Love it! Maverick "I have a good brain!" Absolutely buddy!
Your son is so funny, smart little boy.
My knees hurt just watching you do that.
You made the best choice possible with the wool carpet and the wool padding. It lasts forever, is easy to spot clean, And it is easy on the lungs. Great job of installation! And I love it that your little guy Maverick is helping you. And Bella.
