very nice like the simplicity and using many hand powered tools in the video for many years Wood workers in general have been over engineering sanding blocks ?? they all do the same thing there isn’t any need to re invent the wheel
I think this simple design is quite elegant. It has all the elements required without complicating setup and use. And it's easy to vary to suit the maker's needs, such as modifying the size to fit the sandpaper to be used. Well done. I've already made two and plan to make two more. richard -- The second Law of Demos (and Frisbee): Never make a statement more predictive than "Watch this."
Thanks. The dimensions are Length 10 cm, width 6.5, depth 4.5. The overall dimensions were detemined by the width of the sandpaper (it's from a roll) and the width of the scrap fence paling that I used. Have fun!
Hi. Unfortunately I don't know the brand of the bits. I bought them at the Sydney Woodworking show . They are un-branded, but I would geuss they are chinese

You don't need anything as complicated as this to make a "self locking" sanding block. You just need to cut the edges of your block at a 15 degree angle. The narrow face goes at the top, the wider face goes down. Then wrap sandpapder round the block, and crease the paper on the 15 degree edges, take it off, fold along the creases and put it back on. The sandpaper will hold itself to the block! see alexanderguestguitars.com Videos page "The World's Best Sanding Block" for the full run-down.
I made several of these ten years ago and they are still used.. great idea tnx for sharing

I'm glad you like it. I've only made the one, but it's the first thing I grab if I have a sanding job.

I made a sanding block using wood and duct tape. I made another sanding block using a credit card and duct tape.
can you share what what forstner bits are you using?

Very well done, but honestly it is too much work and too many materials to make a simple sander.
True, but it was fun to make and I actually use it a lot. It's the first thing I grab when I do any sanding
