    Our mixer kitchen taps are wobbly. I have ordered a pack of box spanners to tighten it. They are coming tomorrow. Wish me luck!

      @@dereton33 I did it! Cupboard had a layer of water, first I turned the nut the wrong way, then realised it's anticlockwise and now we have a tighter tap. Thank you so much. You gave me the confidence to try it.

    I found this video because I was looking for an extra long tap spanner. I wondered why no one seemed to make one. Two tube spanners together - never thought of that but as soon as I saw it it was a light bulb of course moment. Thank you, you saved the family from a hell of a lot of swearing.

    Good video box spanner’s are great I bought a CK box spanner 30 years ago great for taking off the old metal back nuts but doesn’t fit some of the plastic ones.However the is a tool made by rigid made of heavy duty plastic with slits in it and you can push the the end over the nut it opens up to take a slightly bigger nut alright if there was no plaster holding it like the did in the old days.

    I enjoy listening to your videos. If I ever moved to the UK people would look at me strange, you had a different name for every tool than what we call them in th US. Basin was the only word that matched, except we call it basin wrench, and box spanner are called bells, then vice grips was another tool you had, and channel locks, anyway I enjoy your videos sir, have a great day, a wonderful holiday and a happy New Year.

    Hi Al - Thnaks for the great vid. I bought the Silverline bath and tap box spanner from Amazon for replacing 1/2 inch plastic back nuts with proper brass ones from screwfix as somme of our sink taps were loose and I wanted to replace the plastic backnuts with brass ones. It was great with removing the plastic backnuts and for partial insertion of the brass backnuts, however when it came to applying the final pressure to create a tight seal it simply slipped as if it was 1 mm too big. I eventually got it tight with a basin spanner but it was tough! Could you suggest an altenative to the silverline set?

    • @dereton33
      @dereton33  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The silverline set are budget tools, just stick with good makes, there are lots of them.

    Hi nice videos ! I've got a couple of stuck ceramic cartridges coming out of a wall I've tried to turn them anticlockwise with one of those silver line 19mm af 3/4inch box spanner but they won't budge the steel of box spanner is like toffee . Can u recommend a different brand of box spanner .... or a way of loosening the headgear off? Thanks

    • @dereton33
      @dereton33  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Silverline is a budget rubbish brand. Stick with a well known brand like Rothenburger.

    Good video. I'm still struggling with the changing taps on a basin. I've tried the basin spanner that my Dad had, but still don't have the room up there with the pipes & small area to actually turn this spanner.
