KELVIN Kevin what has colour got to do with it.go to hell my friend.i am an African from Nigeria and I'm fed up with blacks like yourself constantly complaining about anything and everything.who is stopping blacks from setting up animal shelters and charities to help the animals that inhabit Africa? The bitter truth is that we Africans cannot be bothered to do anything and instead we moan, whine, whinge, groan, then connive with poachers to hunt down and slaughter these most magnificent creatures.what is your point? Instead of just insinuating about nothing,go and contribute time and money towards the welfare and protection of these elephants.

Following on the work she first started and with her late husband, All the people involved in saving Elephants has been a remarkable life achievement, Dame Daphne together with her staff has also shown the world that conservation is very much needed, may she continue to do her pioneering work for many years to come, God Bless her and her elephant keepers who are helping these babies to survive....

Elephants are a sacred symbol for many religions for this reason: they teach us that power, abundance and greatness come from being compassionate, sweet and peaceful, from loving and taking care of those around us, and of our world.

I knew that elephants mourn their dead, but I didn't know they revisited the remains. That is amazing. We have a lot to learn about compassion from these elephants. These videos should be translated and distributed to influence China's market for ivory. I myself am Chinese and I'm not aware of anyone in my family owning ivory pieces, I believe it's seen as a old world tradition/superstition.

    • @robinroshto7006

SOPHIA PANG, China is not the problem. JAPAN refuses to stop buying ivory. They love ivory and don't mind the outrageous cost. One tusk sells for $60,000 on the Black Market. Then it is sold openly and legally in any form in Japan. Many nations are putting hard pressures on Japan but they just ignore it. Poachers can't be everwhere so they set up snares made of razer sharp wire. The elephants step in, then can't get out. An elephant is pregnant for 22 MONTHS. A baby nurses for two to three years. And stays with it's mother and herd until about 10 yrs old or even the rest of it' life. Then about five years later begins having her own babies. Females have a window of just FIVE days once a YEAR that they can get pregnant. It takes about 30 years for tusks to grow large enough to be profitable. All of those years can be taken away with just ONE bullet to the brain. Poisoned arrows take a few days to a week. Snars keep the elephants in place until the poachers come back for the kill. Elephants are not easily replaceable. The woman in this video is Daphne Sheldrick. She created the Baby Elephants Orphanage 50 years ago to honor her late husband, David. and it is amazing. Go to the website: DavidSheldrickWildlifeTrust to learn more about all things Elephant.

I'm a supporter of animal rights, and make donations to animal sanctuaries when I can.
I had an acquaintance whom I had a falling out with when he brought me to his house with some friends. Before that day, I didn't know that he was a collector of animal heads and elephant tusks as trophies, along with animal skins as rugs. As soon as I saw his" COLLECTION " as he called it, I lost my head and started screaming at him for being such a monster before kicking him with all my might when he tried to restrain me, and rushing out.
I later learned that he was also supportive of poachers, and hunting, which I abhorred; I refused to speak with him after that, and I don't want to ever see him again.

      Sophia Pang
Yes, and they also have very long memories.
There is an elephant sanctuary in Tennessee where old circus and zoo females (special facility an California for bulls due to them having Musth...or going psycho for a few weeks of the year) can retire permanently with thousands of acres to roam.
It has forests, huge rivers, and a nice heated barn that the elephants are free to in and out of on their own free will. No chains or bull hooks used.
There was an old episode many years ago where the New Orleans Zoo decided to retire their old lone female elephant to this sanctuary.
She had been a circus elephant, one hind leg was disfigured from being busted, and she had not seen another elephant for over 20 years.
She did NOT want to go into the transport truck.
When they got to the sanctuary she was very nervous (temporary cage for quarantine and to let her settle), but greeted the free elephants as they came up to welcome her.
That light, after everyone left, one last elephant came up from the huge pasture to say high.
There is rare footage of what happened next online on TH-cam.
The old female had her back to the barn door. Probably processing what happened that day, and possible still nervous. When the last female came by to sniff and say hi. When the younger female called out the older female suddenly perked up and turned around to face the new comer.
THEY BOTH WENT BONKERS WITH EXCITEMENT..
That entire night they screamed with joy and actually bent the huge bars separating them in order to try to get closer to each other!
The staff, amazed did some research, and discovered something fantastic.
Both elephants had come from the same circus from over 20 years ago!!
The older female had been at the circus when the younger female had been a baby after being taken from India and forced to preform.
The older female had been like a mother to this scared terrified calf, and after over 20 years they still remembered each other!!
The staff immediately opened the now bent gate and the two immediately set off, the youngster showing her adaptive mom all the wonder that awaited her.
As a young hunter (I shoot it I eat it unless severely injured or obviously diseased. Then it is a mercy kill). it made me cry my eyes out. I swore after that that I would NEVER shoot an elephant. If I ever go to Africa or Asia, the only thing a I would shoot...would be a camera.
I also don’t do circuses or zoos.
Seeing that changed my view on wildlife.
I still hunted. But I have also helped wild animals and other creatures.
If you take, you need to give back too!

This is the opposite end to the stories where human stupidity causes the death of animals and the destruction of nature. In this story, we learn that human love and intelligence can save nature and create new avenues for life to develop. Humanity, when working in accordance to the laws of nature, and from a place of compassion, can achieve miracles. If only we acted from this place more often. Thank you, Argo Films, for this beautiful short film.
