    Really cool. I think if you used some of the snapping you'd have had an easier time getting them to tile, with cleaner geo. Holding 'v' snaps to vertices and holding 'x' snaps to grid points

    I know that this is an old tutorial, but I'm compelled to comment for beginners using Maya who want to create something similar to this model.
    1. The first thing that should have been imported to Maya should have been a character base mesh, or at least a cube with a length of 1.8 meters on the Y axis and grid display changed to reflect this
    2. The top Arch and bottom Plinth should have been modeled on the grid making full use of Maya's snapping tools.
    3. The pillars constructed supporting either side of the arch should have been reduced to 0ne pillar with one side of the arch deleted and copied back to back to rest on the supporting pillar below. Very important, as this will give the model, not only the structural appearance of being supported correctly by the pillar below, but will blend into other environmental building and props.
    4. All internal faces (faces that will not be shown), should be deleted before using the bend deformer. If, on the other hand, the player or camera will enter the building, all internal details on the facade can be modeled to the inside. Then, stairs, balconies, bannisters, etc; can be modeled using the same radius from the deformer. Agin, very important.
    5. The model should be constructed in as many polygons as the structure needs, ie: Create the model in high poly with all the details then retopologize to low poly and create UV's on the low poly.
    6. Every vertex should be merged with its neighbouring vertex to clean the model and create a single mesh. Combining separate models is not enough. This will cause anomalies in the structure while UV/Texturing.
    Just a few of the things that were wrong in the modeling stage. I've been using Maya for 20+ years. Thanks...

      I posted this video when I was a student myself so I made a lot of mistakes in this one.
      I've been cautious since then and improved a lot .
