I find this piece reminiscent of a Chinese John Adams

I'm getting a Moon Dog-meets- Ravel sensibility, which means I'm probably gonna try to listen everything this guy's ever written.
Thanks again for maintaining this wonderful channel.
Exactly this.
I feel the same, i first was introduced to Qigang Chen from this channel but the first piece of his I listened to was Er Huang the piano concerto. I’ve been trying to listen to everything he’s written ever since lol.
@@Scriabinfan593 yes that’s a great piece. The orchestration is so subtle and the sense of poetic development is so clear
Concerto for temple blocks and orchestra basically 😂Seriously though, really awesome piece, thanks for sharing!
Extraordinarily based
Man I love this guy, his music just brings so much joy and cultural diversity! Simply astounding!
I agree!

Yes! I love Qigang Chen, one of my absolute favorites. Thank you for this!
such a unique composition. A splendid use of orchestral colour.
Thanks Cmaj7! Chen may be one of my favorite contemporary composers (as a composer/wide music listener, favorites are very hard for me to pick).
Masterpiece! Chen said every piece is transcending his prior achievement, and this one is no exception. Never had he written anything like this before, with so much varied rhythm, instrumentation and polyphony!
The first minutes makes me feel at peace
it's what most of modern asian compositions evoke
@@GerrlichStudios from the entire continent? you sure?
The title loosely translates as "messing around"
literally "anyhow play"
A journey to beautiful and epic orchestra music with a modern timbre an textures of asian pentatonic. Terrific!
Wow
I listened to that recently at the Paris Philharmonie, that was a great piece!
A thousand thanks for uploading it :)
I love how people are sturggling playing Chinese percussion
Thanks ! A very interesting and "fresh" work !
glad I got onto this end of youtube
He is like the Chinese John Adams!
I would call this a metamorphosis rather than a theme and variations.
oh...how i wish i'd composed this masterpiece myself...
Why
Put that same wish into desire and then into your pieces when you write them and don’t try to copy or sound like other composers
Yeah definitely John Adams with Chinese spices. what a great piece!
太棒了!!!
Graet composer

How can I get the score? I am writing a doctoral dissertation on Chen's music. Thanks!

is a chinesse composer?
Chinese/French, former student of Messiaen.
Yes, he is a very successful composer. He studied with composer Messiaen in France. But it was unfortunate his only son died in a car accident in 2012.
@@Asuperman1992 Wow I didn't know about his son.
lol bolero
還真的是亂彈😂😂😂
確かにミニマル音楽でしょう。
It's definitely minimal music.
